We had that system in school for a while. It looks good on paper, but the system has a ton of latency and as a result, something as simple as typing in word becomes a total pain.
Now we only have actual computers that are connected to "some companys network servers", the problem is that we are totaly locked out of them and they are extremley expensive.
For a class, we needed to have a newer version of netbeans (upgrading a free program to a newer version) turns out that cost the school 30000 SEK (4500 $) to do on 30 computers. Same thing with installing a webbrowser permanently. If im not misstaken the school is also forced to rent all computer equipment from this company who can now charge as much as they want for something. To add to the frustration, the upgrade took about 3 months to complete.
The advantages are that we get file storage on the servers (100mb per student (go over 20mb and you get one email every 2 weeks telling you to clean it)) and what they call a "stable and bugfree system" which in reality is computers that take 10 minutes to boot and sometimes don't even work because the loginservers are offline.
