No, I donwnloaded it with Chrome, though I had to download it twice. The first attempt said it finished but was not complete. I'm thinking more of a bandwith issue? Who knows.

It didn't take long to realize that this is a bit more than my work computer can handle, though it all seemed to work, just reeeaaaly sloooowly. I'll have to load it up at home. Oh well.... back to work.

Finally got hold of a copy. The broken downloads might be a server issue if too many people are downloading at the same time - possibly aggravated by bandwidth issues as xplosys suggested.

Apart from the obvious missing things (as expected), the main issues for me were

(1) the spongy camera controls in the test game - the camera continues to drift for some time before stopping;

(2) in the test game, characters seem to float about with their animations bearing little relation to their position on the ground - this was particularly noticeable when I moved the camera backwards away from the characters;

(3) no obvious ways to delete an entity after adding it or of undoing an action - this might be obvious to regular FPSC users if the controls are the same as before but I'm essentially a new user.

Overall it looks like a good start.

No undo anything unless its manually done.

To remove an entity In entity mode you simply point at it until it highlights, left mouse click to select it to pick it up off the map and right click with mouse (not left click to place) which removes it from your cursor.

Thanks.

That worked - after several attempts. I suspect the slow running is causing mouse actions to be intermittently detected. At least I can remove my misplaced entities now if I persist long enough. Hopefully responsiveness of the editor controls is one of the issues TGC will be checking. I guess shader options are set to max at the moment - and there are some heavyweight shaders in that effect bank.

for people that might have issues starting Reloaded, (with windows 7) try right clicking the icon, click run as administrator. Also try turning off UAC.

Hope this helps.

I installed it in My Documents on W7 and have no problems running it other than the software itself.

Yes, the standard controls help a bit but what about turning the camera? Whenever I try to turn the camera precise positioning seems impossible.

I guess the beta takes no account of the actual frame rate being achieved.

I've noticed similar problems with other TGC software and I wonder whether similar code is being used. If I move or rotate the camera I expect the result to be instantaneous and not to linger for a second or so. My guess is that something like the angle increment is being changed every sync regardless of sync rate.

Edit

@Green Gandalf hit Tab in the test game and it comes up with performance stuff. I'm getting 9 fps max on a dual core 3.4 GHz, 3 GB of RAM, and a 1 GB ATI gfx card. I'm not going to claim I have the best system out there, but I certainly wouldn't say it's the worst. Oh, and that's with everything turned off and the bloom set to "1".

I know it's just the beta, but it's extremely hard to even test for gameplay bugs when it runs that slow. Looking forward to the beta patch Lee mentioned in his blog!

The tab thing exists in FPSC Classic. While Classic allows us to change from having the meter bars along the bottom to a hud display on the left side, I assume Reloaded just piggybacked the same idea off the Tab key. Chances are there are other things that Classic and Reloaded share in common, which hopefully will come out in one form or another for users to have available.

There's no problem that can't be solved without applying a little scripting.

I have no idea why I'm receiving such poor FPS rates. I can run some impressive video games on this machine without issue or lag. But FPSC-Reloaded different story.

- Also noticed zooming in and out to be a bit clunky.

- Raising static entities with holding shift and 9 I believe, is quite slow and doesn't allows allow you to drop the item where you have raised it vertically.

- Sound was working fine but sometimes just cuts out completely. Perhaps I hit the wrong key?

* everyone who is experiencing issues with FPSC-Reloaded installing, downloading... turn off all your anti-virus / firewalls. Also make sure your logged into your computer as Admin and run the application as admin (right click and do this). Also turn off UAC *

I do. Rather concerned that there's a bit of a mountain to climb at the moment unless there's something silly going on which is easily fixed.

I get 70-100 FPS constant when playing a game (maximum settings) but also have a pretty powerful machine (GeForce GTX 680, 16GB Ram, Phenom II six-core 3.6GHz, SSD storage). The jumping seemed buggy as if it wasn't using timer-based movement, so with high framerates I'd jump and only get a little bit off the ground then slam back into it very unnaturally.

However, I then had to force-close the app after running a game, the main canvas turned black and I couldn't do anything. When I open it again it gets stuck on "Checking files for you" -- of course I have UAC disabled and everything else set to allow FPSC and it loaded fine the first time and may again after a restart.

Sounds like the testmap (in the levelbank folder) which is saved when you test your map has been corrupted - when I run the program it always loads the testmap game by default so if that got fouled up I guess it won't start correctly. You could try deleting all the files in your Files/levelbank/testmap folder so it starts with the default blank map.

The guy with the facemask seems to be much harder to kill than the guy without. Must be some collision issue with that specific character.

For those having lag/fps issues, try turning down the "camera near" and "camera distance" settings (and of course all the other graphics settings). It's in the right-hand menu, you have to press Tab a few times before it comes up. That reduces the amount of rendering the engine has to do and I managed to get up to 15fps (from 9) on one of the test maps included.

Like many others no sound. Placing a player marker did not help as someone suggested. Will try again with a new level tomorrow.

So far very nice and fun Much easier to use the FPSC. My first peek is a short one as I work tomorrow so only can play a bit.

Have had some random crashes if I switch apps. I also have had the NPCs go through fences and tents when shot up close.

Pretty smooth running in test level. Love the terrain tools. No will start reading the post so I can report those "extra features" that crop up.

A quick question. In my earlier screenshot I was firing a gun. That happened by accident as I don't know how I managed to equip myself with it. Which key should I/did I press? (In the absence of instructions I've been pressing keys randomly in a completely haphazard and non-scientific way. )

Same here - but I've just noticed I've muted the sound because my previous game's sounds were annoying Mrs Gandalf.

How do I get out of "Zoomed In Mode"? And how do I avoid getting into it? The promising Left Click simply zooms out but keeps me in the same mode and no further editing seems possible.

My performance was acceptable to good. In the 40-120 fps range. Am I the only one that has no HUDs and the sample maps are all identical?

*Been experiencing a lot of falling through higher peaked mountains. Example-in one of the starting maps I start looking down a small vally of sorts. I turn left to see a camel humped peak with one smaller than the other, and think,"I'm gonna climb that to see what I can see" I start scaling it only to get to the top and fall through the level. This is repeatable in many spots.

*This may have just been forgotten or not implemented yet but the player has no max height to look up. So essentially I can flip my head like a hinged lid and see the world upside down and behind me with reversed controls.

My graphics card is not up to par for reloaded. It works great with Classic. I just decided to upgrade. I'm still not at GTX 680 but getting close.

Once I replace the card I will seriously look at Beta 1. When I have the time.

somehow believe it or not the casual gamers
are sitting behind something like that

anyways good work so far @TGC

Edit:
turning off
camera near
and distance brought me to 20-40fps
so i would say we are on teh right track here

btw for the ones that didnt knew
you can actualyl use fpsc classic shaders(post fx)
in reloaded
simply replace the bloom
that is located
Files/effectbank/reloaded/post-bloom.fx
with one of the shaders from fpsc classic post effects folders

I tried turning those settings down and not only did it work but it DOUBLED MY FPS! I went from 1 fps to 2 fps WOOHOO I guess I am going to need a new computer. This old quad core laptop's integrated graphics are HD but they still don't cut it. I guess a new desktop with 8 cores and a GeForce should do the trick. I knew this laptop would be sluggish but I was hoping for at least 10 or 12 fps. Oh well, it still rocks FPSC classic.

Hi all on here, are the model packs x9 that you get with the pledges supposed to work with reloaded, the enity's do but not the characters, they jump and dance about and when you search to put the default.fpi from one of the stock reloaded characters it cant be found (IE c:/ prog files/TGC/FPSCR/files/entity bank/people.(like fpscx10 that was in your documents folder) not there either.

Also there is no segment or prefab is that coming later?

getting 21fps has dropped to 4fps whilst walking on certain bits of the map but springs back if keep walking, seem to get the mouse lagg when near a building! and ai walk through the buildings.

cheers si

I'd like to test it out but I could not launch the .exe the first time without error and now unzipping the updated .zip file gives an "unexpected end of archive". Antivirus is not throwing up any warning like it would if it were blocking it either.

I have tried downloading with Chrome and IE to no avail.

No! We don't help. No one can do anything with this information.
You have to give us your system specs. (what computer you have).

Just think about it. What do you believe anyone can do with "will not start" as a reference to a problem..

Hi Everyone:

This is a GREAT beta - moving forward it will only get much better. I have just started to "play around" with Reloaded - so far I have found the following issues:

Playing the sample levels:
- No sound whatsoever.
- No bullet effect on ground, buildings or water etc.
- When I shot one of the enemy (standing near a tent) he fell
through the tent.

Basic Editor Functions:
- F1 Help key - help text displayed is "scrambled".
- When adding some of the provided entities, they would not show
up when testing and would disappear from the Editor after
testing. During this test I randomly selected an entity from
each provided entity category - so i haven't tested each
individual entity. See Attached Winrar file for screen
examples.

So far that is all I have found - I am now going to build some levels using the Editor and will log any issues and report back.

Thanks to Lee & Rick for what will eventually be a FANTASTIC product.

Regards
