Hmm? Does it show as running in Task Manager? If it doesn't and you still have the problem then something has got corrupted somewhere. Perhaps someone else has an idea of what's gone wrong?

The last time I saw something like this was in the good old days of Windows 3.1.

Have you tried uninstalling/reinstalling?

I've been unable to download the latest beta also. I wish it was possible to resume broken downloads on TGC, but I've never been able to do so. I'll just keep trying to re-download until it actually finishes the download.

When I hit the button for a new map I don't get a new flat terrain.
It starts me out with the last terrain instead of a new one. (the very mountain ranges I need to get rid of)
Was hoping a new one would be totally flat like it starts you out the first time.
I saw someone else say the same thing somewhere else, but couldn't find it again for a quote.

I can get a new map by exiting out of the program, then deleting the test folder in the levelbank, then firing the program back up.
But, I have to paste the folder back (without exiting again) before running a test on the level or it crashes.
Anyway, it is an easy enough workaround, but would be nicer if the button worked.

I think there's is a flat terrain file someone distributed.

I just made my own from a default map by flattening the hills and saving it as a new level named "featureless" and keep that as my blank default. When I need to start with a blank terrain I can open it and again save it with a new name for my level and continue on keeping my original intact.

That may help for now until Lee sorts something out for users hopefully.

Hey everyone,
I have downloaded both files late last night and had no issue with it.
I have install the files and started the beta version without changing any settings. Good so far for me. The PC I have is a Acer, with Windows 7 SP1, AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor 3.10GHz, 4GB memory, 64-bit Operating System, NVIDIA GeForce 9200 Video Integrated RAMDAC with a 1919MB Graphic memory, 256MB Dedicated Video Memory, 64MB System Video memory, and a 1599MB Shared System Memory.

After running the Beta version I see that the test mode does run very slow, so I working on the fps speed setting like everyone else is doing. Other than that the program looks great, can't wait for the updated releases.

I finally downloaded it after pausing and restarting the download many times. I'm sort of amazed it worked.

Anyways, I got to testing it and I get a sold 35 fps on the "Get To The River" map. It's nothing too shabby as the gameplay was very fluid.

My Specs:

Amd Phenom II X4 965 @ 4.0 Ghz Overclocked
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660Ti -- Factory Overclock
8GB of DDR3 Ram-- Overclocked
Windows 7 Pro 64 Bit

It's not a super machine but ran the engine just fine and load times were astounding.
