Good progress. It looks like you're staying with the 2D physics. Good luck

GB's game got under my skin for the super low pixel character. I had a go at one, man is that a painful exercise.

i've posted a short demo for Maze Devoid @ itch.io.

only 3 "learner" levels, temp sounds, some "dev" stuff lingering about, etc, but it's getting there

i've given it near-unlimited power-boost so you can explore a bit without too much trouble

check your link dude .... did you remember to change it from Draft to Public???

I am getting the 404 file not found error

itch says you have 4 projects, but I only saw 3 games

I did try the Gift Hunter though, and I am impressed with your vehicle mechanics and terrain.

You guys make me want to try working out a driving game. (something that has been on the to-do list for a long time)

@vn Nice work matey. I was a little frustrated at the speed but then i used the boost a lot and it became manageable. I'm not sure if a minimap might make it too easy but wandering around trying to find eyes seemed a bit random.
Fantastic interpretation of the pacman genre.

That's an awesome tiny character @Blink. And that Run n Gun gif looks fantastic. Is that your work for this jam?!

@VN That Trillion thread is super cool. Your animation is extremely well done. Highly readable. Amazing for such a tiny space.

I've not done much at all since my last update but will be working on the game tonight!
Due to the time I need to keep it simple. So just one or two enemies and that will be it.

Spent some time over the weekend on this. My initial stab at a graphical text RPG soon shifted to a Wizardry-like game.
For this throwback to the days of gaming yore, I created a bitmap font to match the old Apple ][ font and found that AppGameKit makes it near effortless to use bitmap fonts.
I also wanted to try to make some of the coding 'retro', so the dungeon view is drawn to the screen SSI Forgotten Realms-style. (screenshot of the wall parts below)

Video is a quick walkthrough of the intro and a few seconds of walking around in the game.

To do list
1) Knock out levels
2) Level select screen
3) Level finish screen
4) Pickups (Mass/Speed/Grip/Shoot)

Not much time and lots to do Arrrrgh!!!

Thanks guys It's just the default GameBoy pallete. Given I'm just starting out with pixelart, sticking with the basics for now seems to work for me (small sprites, 4-color pallets + white/black if needed).

BTW awesome transition @blink!

Not yet, most of the time spent on the project is coding, I wouldn't have enough time for other stuff I'll most likely put the code in GitHub eventually though.

Sometimes the updates can reveal more than intended. lol

Glad I updated my version of AppGameKit, but the extras were not unnoticed. (just like the GIFs in this thread, they stood out)

Some plans remind me of the moonshiner that informed the revenuers where he had his still, just to 'flip the switch' when they all walked into the root cellar loaded with explosives.

It will be interesting to see how this Jam plays out.

Good luck everyone.

Glad to see you all are making great progress.

I think I hit development burnout between all the game dev for the framework, the samples and my job.

I did add an orc enemy but nothing else. Not sure if I will have much of anything to submit but we will see if the game dev drive hits me this weekend.

@Virtual Nomad nice take on asteroids! Quite addictive
@blink it looks great so far, can't wait to play it!

I also just managed to publish my submission. Lots remains to be fixed/done, but I'm happy with it.

The source code is up in GitHub if anyone is interested I learnt a lot about how to organize Tier 1 code. For example, collisions can get messy. Better to handle all in the same place... Otherwise it's not clear where they should go (eg: if player collides with bullet, should the collision logic live in bullet or player?).

i've got both High Scores and Mobile (no keyboard required) in and have added my first APK offering on itch, as well.

play-thru video found HERE.

testing has been limited considering i only started the project yesterday. there's bound to be a glitch or 2 in there, somewhere...

this will be my final submission for the jam; it's been a fun ride!

please do rate? i look forward to trying all of our submissions and will do the same

@Loktofeit: Wow impressive! I love the 3D style. It's done with 2D and the sprites you showed before?

The only "negative" feedback I have is that the sounds give me a headache but maybe it's just me

I have to say, AppGameKit makes it a lot more fun to do jams and little one off projects. It handles most of the rote stuff so that you can focus on the fun part of development.

I like it.

Simple ideas can be really fun sometimes (like many classic video arcade games), and this is one of them.

Reminded me of asteroids and missile command, and the auto fire is an excellent idea to require good timing. (makes it harder then you think)

Here are the results of my first time out...

I can imagine some two hand action with the addition of a gun that is manually fired with limited rounds on screen at once.

One hand controls these and the other hand controls another gun on separate mechanics. (maybe colored differently too and way slower)

That would require a technical difficulty for those who may be coordinately challenged.

Your opposite barrels are a great challenge as it stands, so I am not saying it needs anything, just throwing out a thought.

CE wrote: "just throwing out a thought"

much appreciated initially, it didn't have autofire (and it quickly became a necessity). once i added it, the dynamic changed for the better.

then i added the 2nd "parallel" ship, and that seemed to be an improvement, too. it kind of wrote itself

i also thought about adding smart bomb, giving the planet "health" vs a 1-hit kill, a random alien intruder, etc. IE, it may not be finished

thanks for playing it, and that's not a bad score. it doesnt save scores on the win version (yet) but today has tp be my best:
