i have taken bullet colision out completely becuase i need a better system to see if the computer can handle it. the fps should incease now that its not doing as many checks

update:
after a long time i have finaly updated the game with 2 new features
1)jump is now limited and you must kill the other player to get more
2)added health, you can now get hit up to 10 times before dying

Well when they fix the slowdown bug in v5.4 ill be able to make more.

but in the meantime im off to make farcry levels.

so, unless i can be bothered to spend half an hour trying to downdate to v5.2 there will be no updates till the problem is fixed.

i would just like to say i think its coming along well!i love the ak and how bout multiple enmies that run little plays on you i.e. 2 of them keep your hed down while 1 flanks you.

I get file not found errors one was at line 700 something so I put the map file in the same folder as the exe and then got "file not found error" at line 1250 or there abouts... couldnt figure that one out tho.... nice title page tho

updates:

1) changed music to one i've made, i also included the old one for people who preffered it

2) changed the intro to a video file, becuase some people had a currupt screen wwhen the set gamma command was used

with the update of v5.5 and the new terrain dll i have had a attempt at using the terrain in my game, and it looks great.

also becuase of the increased speed i was able to enable bullet collision check again, with out a drop in fps.

due to a bug in the dll, the display res is set to 640x480 and cant be changed

I just tried to play the game, but when I chose single-player and it finished loading, it just exited out like that. I run a Dell Pentium 4. Please help!

I've spent about a hour so far trying to find what has made these errors, so far i have only found a missing file in the non-terrain version. however this does not explain why you both got those errors at different lines. i checked line 494 and it was the begining of an if statement(correctly formated), the line was "if ctf = 1" so i dont know why that made any errors. line 597 was a remark starting with a ` symbol.

so i am very confused to why these errors occured, specialy since i dont get them.

i am currently trying to upload both versions, and checking for corruption.

@secret shadow:
the box for the ip is to type the ip of the computer you want to connect to, as this game works on a peer to peer system.

@Jetmech:
please do not give up on this, corruption of files is not a bug i can keep out of the equation, i am trying again as mentioned to upload fully working non-corrupt versions of the game.

uploaded and tested both zips and they work fine, no corrupt files and no errors.

also could people post their fps now that i added the overhead view window. i get 30-33 on the ks.zip, and 33 on the terrain zip(i have a amd 2500+ xp barton, and a gainward(meaning overclocked) fx 5700). max fps you can get is 33

thanx for your comments. good to know it stayed at a good 30 fps even with 3 cameras, 35 collision checks each frame and a detailed terrain

@froggermon
once you test it please come back and tell me you fps as well as your system specs.

things are looking good now, and the terrain version is getting a lot better frame rates.

question:
Should i stick with multiscape levels(easy to build, less bugs and anyone can make their own and import it) or use advanced terrains(more fps, faster colision check(means i can do bullet checks) and its still not impossable to make maps)

so whitch one?

i think ill switch to terrain once the bugs are fixed, making a heightmap and texture isnt too hard so i probaly wont make an editor.

unlocked the sync limit and changed the system so it works on time rather than frames, meaning people with faster computers dont have an advantge agaisnt people with slow computers

A brief history on the name:

I was originally going to use the name for a series of games i was planing to make... When I remembered that i was lazy and decided to give the name to someone who was actually going somewhere with their project....

(plus the name is so unbearabley honest... it tells you exactley what to expect from this game.. plus isnt that really all anyone wants from a fps... mindless killing... storylines are made for rpgs.. It brutal honestey is exactley what makes you want to play it...(or at least that was my theory 3:00 at night and on my twelth energy drink))

yea i agree the a good fps(like doom) is mainly about kiiling, sometimes a bref storyline. and thanks for giving up your wonderful name

so far cry style landscapes seams to be the better from what i've been told. but ill probly have to wait untill the plus commands are out so i can use LOD. at the moment it only goes about a maxium of 25fps on my card.
