Okay… I’ve updated the demo (
http://skwirle.dbspot.com/files/MKF.zip), even though not as much done as I had hoped (and no kitten rescueage yet
). I ended up scrapping several levels that were just not any fun to play… so feedback on the newer levels would be greatly appreciated, especially if any of them strike you are boring, annoying, or somehow lacking in playability. I’m learning towards more “puzzles” even though it’s been a real bunny coming up with clever ideas that actually work.
Changes (to help you determine if you want to download, it’s almost up to 7MB zipped):
- First 6 levels haven’t changed much except for bug fixes and sound effects.
- Newer levels add things like stationary and shooting hazards and pushable boxes (with a surprise inside).
- Monster AI is slightly better… the wandering monsters will try to avoid each other and look for alternate paths. And in the last standard level included, the bear tries to chase you… but the path finding is still pretty simple.
- Added a menu with some video and sound options. The game auto-saves at the beginning of each level, so you can restart a level and/or continue the game later.
- Kitty can no longer jump. Mostly because I’m lazy and restricting player movement makes designing levels a lot easier. Might put it back as a “power-up” in later levels (yeah, power-ups are coming).
- Music: still sucks. Ignore it. I haven’t figured out what to do about the music yet.
My to-do list is still enormous, but I’d still like to hear about any bugs or problems or ideas for improvement. And thanks to everyone who’ve made suggestions so far!
Oops... forgot to mention, the update now has 13 levels total... 5 new ones plus 2 bonus levels.
