v1.1 release

Some of you may have tried the original tech-demo/mini game release... this is a completely updated / re-written version. it's now a complete game, with Bowling scoring, sound effects, etc.

GAME FEATURES
Amazing physics courtesy of the Newton Game Dynamics physics SDK (and my wrapper for it)
Fully lightmapped level
Adjustable resolution & color depth
Sound effects based on actual physics data
In-game music (you can specify your own directory)
a few secret characters!

If I remember correctly, you had trouble running my Snowball fight game too, right?

I think there must be something about your video card... you're the only one I know who's had these kind of errors with the menu system (i used the same system for both games).

I'm sorry, but I don't know any way to fix it from my end... what video card do yuo have?

Great game! It really is a lot of fun!

Sadly I found a bug:

'Memblock Position out of range at line 3288'

I had played one frame then went to the options and set the resolution to max and lowered the volume. When I tried to continue playing the program crashed with the above message.

All I can say is... Wow.

Running in 1024x768x32, it was as smooth as a babies butt.

The level and the graphics all-round look stunning, and the physics in it make it so realistic

Great work Walaber!

I suggest emailing Rich about this ( although he may already know ) and ask him to stick it up on the site somewhere, this is commercial quality stuff.

Man, that's cool. Great fun. I've been waiting for this, and man I wasn't disappointed.
It looks great, and it plays great too!!

I only have one suggestion, I know you've finished this now....but it is V1.....so if you ever do a sequel. (Please do), I would suggest that you spread the pins a little further apart. Because, all you have to do at the moment is slightely nudge the front pins to get a strike. The wins adds some problems, but I think if you made the pins a little more spaced you'd really have to hit accurately.

If by Character name you mean player name, then I called myself Scraggle.

My system specs are:

Pentium 4 3.2 GHz
1.5 Gb DDR RAM
Gainward Geforce 4 Ti4600
6 x Hard Drives totaling 640Gb

I couldn't replicate the bug though. I tried several times but it has worked fine every time since.

KamaKase - I'll keep updating the game, fixing bugs, and changing it based on suggestions that people have. After a fair amount of people have played (and given comments like yours), I'll go back and make some adjustments to improve the game. so maybe sometime next week there will be a version 1.1 or something like that.

scraggle - glad the problem seems to have disappeared. I'll be on the lookout for anyone else who reports the same bug!

there is a bug in the current release, if you enter a capital m ("M") in your name, the game will crash.

the bug has been fixed, and will be in the next update to the game (I want to wait and hear about other bugs before re-releasing)

to those getting a "memblock position out of range" error... this happens when you try to run the game in 16-bit color mode. I discovered the problem, and am working on a fix to make the game run smoothly in both 32 and 16-bit modes.

VERSION 1.1 RELEASED

I've made some major bug fixes, and some other minor tweaks to the game. a list of all fixes is in the README.txt

Your scoring is now messed up, you get a 0 for every 'bowl'. Other then that, it's very professional and quite a bit of fun.

I'm guessing you're calculating the score (said) time after releasing the monkey but because it runs slower on my computer it's essentially calculating the score before it's even hit the pins. An easy solution is to just calculate the score when the user presses 'enter'.

I think this is a commercial quality game....

There's no problem so large it can't be solved by killing the user off, deleting their files, closing their account and reporting their REAL earnings to the IRS.

Avhast does not find a virus in the original version 1.0 exe.

Good game Walaber. and very creative.

Wasting CPU Cycles since the 286 was a hot machine.

It's 95% fixed now. There's still cases where a pin is wobbling, it would calculate the score and then the pin would fall over. This wouldn't be too much of a problem except when you're next bowl for the frame comes, that pin that fell over afer the score was calculated has disappeared making it impossible to score a spare for that frame! This only occurs on rare occasions though but I guess it's still a 'bug'.

Great game though, it's a fun way to waste time.

general,

Noone else's downloads of Walabers exe's are corrupt or contain a virus.

I recomend doing a full-system scan using a DIFFERENT virus scanner than the one you are using, and see if it detects anything. I am betting the results will be negative.

There is not a virus with Walaber's exe's, neither on his PC, on the server, or on anyone's PC other than yours.

I have removed your posts bar the last one.

yeah, once you mentioned the bug, I realized the problem, and fixed it right away (or so I thought). then I decided to release v1.1, but after I released it I realized I hadn't fixed it properly (as Exeat pointed out). so then I fixed again, and re-uploaded v1.1

When I try playing it it says "This application has failed to start because d3d9.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." I tried re-installing, but it still wouldn't work.
