Do you mean the address

http://jessticular.dbspot.com/?nav=dbhelp

?

If you mean there's a temporary technical problem, I'll try again later.

Thanks.

Yes, there is a technical problem that will be corrected within the hour. Afterwards, the DBP help should be up for a looooong time.

There's no JavaScript or ActiveX controls on the site, it's pure HTML, so Nothing can go wrong on that front...

The hosting was the little issue, but it looks like Jimmy is on it, as always

Just waiting for Jimmy to plug in the MySQL and then the actual database, and she'll be off and away

LiT, I thought about that too, however, I want to wait a while till we get a bit better user-base happening, and I get all of my To-Do's finished, then I might have a chat with Rich

Jess.

Hoo-Rah!

However, Peter, all those Text commands you added... They're gone

My To-Do list now has Backing up the Database as a 100% priority item.

Time to see what I can do about it

Sorry guys

I take it there's no way to edit new entries? I can understand why - too open to abuse and all that, but I missed a couple of typos in the Input commands.

Peter,
Yeah, they're in

Anti,
I'll fix up them entries for you

I've got Users on my To-Do list, but it's not much point once the command list is full, cos after that, they're all only comments or extra examples

Just for everyone who wants to know, Here's my To-Do list;

They're roughly in some sort of order...

A one to note, is the Syntax Highlighting one. So, any BBCode that is inserted into Code examples will become obsolete once I get around to putting in the scripts ( have them mostly done from a previous online experiment with online DBP source highlighting ) then you'll be able to have sexy Default-style Syntax Highlighting

Jess.

Thanks Jess!

It's slow day at work today, so I'm working my way through the Input commands. It's funny actually - figuring out working examples is giving me all sorts of new ideas....

..some of 'em are even related to DB..hehe..

Have you considered coding a simple API to be used by IDEs? Some kind of standard URL format that returns an XML file maybe - it would offer a nice way of accessing the Help DB while coding. Of course, it would also make it a lot more popular, and then there's the extra traffic...hmmm...

If you think it's a good idea, I'd be happy to put together a little PHP interface for you if you like.

(Yeah, I'm a little bored, I admit it!)

what do you mean the txt file ? you mean the new features bug corrected etc ?

ps: no no no i'm telling you , they got miniaturized in there own computers with a device made in lego to hide from the police officers cause they rob a bank (to have funds to build dbpro) and so the updates are made in nanoseconds ... (bugweek) , but since they live in a dx33 the only capable device to recieve them (due to brain speed) they finally end up to wrap in time ... from lag to lag

I see... so *thats* where all those updates come from. Does that explain the strange voices I hear coming from my speakers as well?

BTW, Ministro - check out http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=29734&b=15 for a list of previous updates, fixes and (dum da duummm) new commands!

Which reminds me - what text do we put into the "TGC says:" field if were entering in some of the new commands into the online help files?

Actually, if you leave it blank, you'll get a validation error, telling you to fill it in, so just put in something like "Currently undocumented"

Jess.

so the second option was the good one , but since you read it fully you knew that

other than that all fields were tgc said nothing have great chances to be formated after i think no ? (@jess) else , if tgc has to say something , i think we will know that when we post the manual cause mike will integrate it as he said he would .

were are we at so far , i mean ... there are lots of categories almost 15 ... some are really filled some not , i will try tonight to fill one and make a little time donation for us .

Yeah, I can easily go back an edit in new information if TGC releases any. If not, then it should be fine as it is

Ok, here's the current stats;
132 commands ( Out of about 1150 );
46 User comments;
12 User Examples; and
11 Empty catergories ( File, Bitmap, Sound, Music, Light, Matrix, World, Particles, 3D Math, FTP, Multiplayer )

So, we're still in the infant stages, but we're growing.

All we need is everyone to add a command a day, and that'll keep the workarounds away

Jess.

it works , the command is set . What exactly are you asking for lit ?

ps : Star Wars episode 3 ... great movie , it's so weird a movie can be done commencing with it's end , and begin to be finalized in it's end . I should comment that this is the best piece of art i ever saw , period , for any kinds of creation beyond the lord of the ring . tgc has to say nothing about this .

When I added the command it wouldn't let me or Jess add a user comment to it. I was just wondering if he had it fixed. The help files lead you to believe that the default aspect value is 0.75 when it is in fact 1.3333333 (width div by height).

yea he took care of it .

jess is actually planning to make a dbpro program to convert the html's help file to a standard he can use . soon the many commands are going to be all in there making users able to only comment and not have to post commands themselves .

I think this will be a chapter for us all ... the first user based community reliying ... a major force proof

Hey Lit,
Yeah, I took care of it. It was a problem with how I had the database settup. Stupid mistake, but easy to fix

Also, it turned out that the comments were actually there, but they had defaulted to another command number ( that was the problem ), so there were about 5 or 6 comments for a command that didn't actually have anything to do with them

And, yea, Ec3t here convinced me to write a little DBP app to scan the files in the Help File directory and convert them into some php documents that I just execute once and all the commands get added

Don't have time till weekend after this, so untill then, everyone keep adding

Jess.

LiT, your second comment is gone now

Baggers,
Yeah, it's a bunch of trivial little issues, like not writing in the same command twice, etc... and doing a few test runs before I set the app loose on all the help files, etc...

Just gotta make sure I do it all right so I don't bust the database full of shiza.

PLEASE add in another feature to sort by the most comments, so I can actually see what other people have to say about the commands. It's wearisome to go and click all the commands and then clicking the "back" button and clicking on the next command. At least make the commands pop up in a new window...

Err... They already actually show how many comments there are.

Just underneath the command name, it says "x comment(s)"

Just go into the All section, and you can see all commands, and they all have how many user-comments each has

Admittedly, there aren't any that say "no comments"... But I figured that you be a waste of space, especially if you were looking at the All section.

As an example, have a look at the Basic 3D section, as all but one command in that section have comments
( Basic 3D;
http://jessticular.dbspot.com/index.php?nav=dbhelp&subnav=Basic%203D
I can't link it, as it has a space in it )...

Also, if you go to the main dbHelp page, I have added a section that tells you how many commands, comments, and examples have been posted.

Anymore updates I wont be doing untill after Friday ( 3 assignments due then, so I gotta work my arse off till them ).

Jess.

Quite possibly a little bit of time... around 3 weeks now...

My Uni work has really caught up on me, and I've gotta get that outta the way before I even think of doing anything more with the site.

I have a 4 week holiday, and a whole LOAD of stuff to do during it, so I'll try to make myself time to have a bash at getting it all sorted

Great news, everyone!

All the commands ( besides expansion packs, which includes Advanced Terrain ) are now into the database!

Here's the news posting I made on my Home Page:

Quote: "Woo-Hoo!

I wrote the app, ran the app, ran the scripts, and then jumped in joy!

After Ec3t convinced me to write the app to populate the database with all commands from the help files, I set to it, and had a working app in under 3 hours which spat out perfect php code everytime, and gave me the easiest way to mass-add all the help-file commands.

The only thing you'll notice is that none of the syntax exists for any of the new commands, nor is there any examples.

Both of these me and Ec3t have to do manually, as they are abstract, and cannot be extracted from the help files directly.

If anyone wants to help, then give me an email at sweet_prozack@hotmail.com , and if I think you're trust-worthy enough to access my database information, then I'll delegate a section to you

It looks like it's all coming together now! Hopefully over my Uni holidays, I'll be able to knock a few more items off my To-Do list!

End."

Now, I just have to go and fill-out the syntax for all the commands

lol.

Jess.

Hi,

This is really cool, good stuff Is there a search facility?

p.s. also is there an edit button? I added a code example, which is ok, but what if I want to modify it?

Cheers.
