...So where are you in converting the game to dbp? Can we see a screen of the current build even if it's nothing special?

Edit: Post 101!!!!!!

Alright, good news (to me).. but I just got sparky's dll for DBPro, and I managed to work it out (thank you svenB ), and now, I am simply, restarting

This time it wont be so buggy, and I won't jump right into the project, I have already started doing tests for many aspects of the game, even movement... so now this project will take way longer to make, but it's gonna be worth it.. it won't be that unstable, and it will be more playable

I wont have this thread lcoked incase you want to ask questions about it.

Good news, now the collision is *perfect*, you can't go through the walls no matter how steep they are, or how hard you push That's one bug gone

Remake is going good, just posted to let you guys know that this game hasn't died away. I've been working non-stop on the engine, which is fully modable by changing round the .XBL files that come with all the data. I've also been working on a level editor that you will be able to download and make levels for the game. So progress is good

The new engine is almost complete I just need to finish up the AI, then make a hud and some interfaces etc.. So I shall start a new thread and post a demo within the next few week, so keep your eyes peeled

Catch ya all later

And just to make you impatient guys happy, here's some info and some screenshots.

Info:

The collision is *perfect* - No bugs at all!

Many different controls that you can use. Mouse, arrows etc. and you don't even need to change the settings, you can go from one to the other.

Much better physics, and easier to pass the levels; for those of you who played the last demo, remember the second level, where the was the huge long ramp going up that was very hard to reach, there are no problems with things like that, and you don't even have to hold space.

The jumping is better, you don't have to hold the jump button, you press it once, and it jumps propely

Almost completely moddable!! Change anything you want, from the gravity to the directory of the level model, to the positions of the crisps (used to be coins ^_^)

Runs alot faster. For me it's 65 FPS, and that's when it's set to 60.

Much better engine. i.e. to change the level from 1 to 2, just do "level=2" if you knopw what I mean. Has a few hundred lines at the beggining just reading data, which can all be changed. Basically, the engine is set to default, and can be changed by the user.

That's all the info I have just now. Here's some screenies.

I went full blow to give the levels that kind of cool feeling. I really like the feeling of the city at night time with all the lights etc. And I really like that clear air, being really high up and the blue fog It will be hard to make things look cool for future levels, but I have ideas, but they will be kept secret until you play the demo

P.S. I know, the graphics still aren't our own, but Dan's computer is still broken, and he's getting a very descent one for X-Mas. So they will be changed for when the demo comes out.

Thanks guys, the demo should come soon, but not too soon.

Oh, and one more thing that I forogt to mention. You can't jump on the ground to avoid dieing, but I am thinking about it giving you some time to get off the ground or else you die.

Do it like in mario 64, where if you hit the lava, you fly back into the air and lose some health.

Hey this has really progressed very well - I like the look of it very much The more little touches and polish you add to it could really make this special. I love games with characters based on balls - maybe you could try using Newton, the ball could roll around via the physics, theres a very simple example of rolling ball controls with it Anyway keep it up its nice to see something going from such a rough (but good) start and continue to develop

Hey kang, I checked out that newton thing, there isn't really much a need it for, apart from jumping off ramps etc. but I think that is programmable, I'll look into it.

And thanks for the good replies. It looks like this game is maybe going a little slow, but it still seems to be going very easy.

In other news - I have just implemented control devices. So now I can use the mouse, arrow keys, and a control device (like a video game thing)... I guess I should also do WASD keys too. OH well, catch ya all later

Controls almost finished now, but I decided you should change the controls though the pause menu (which I am working on), all the controls at once really got messy, but it's cool now.

So, I just have to make the pause menu, and the real menu, and some AI, then demo time (same two levels as before I'm afraid)

Nooooooo!!!! Can you believe it, as soon as Daniel and I were about to go full swing on X-Ball, he doesn't get his laptop! His mum was just going round to see her partner and pick up the laptop, but what are the chances of them braking up on that day!!?!?! Om my god, looks like I'm gonna ghave to work on it myself now..

Ummm no lol

I don't mean any offence, but you can't stick to one project. This is long, and hard, and boring. I don't need anyone for coding anyway, I'm doing it all myself , but if I ever need any help, and you help, consider yourself as a helping hand.
