Just asking, I think I'll create a type of scripting system that will create menus that you can use before the game is run, and while I am at it, I will include the Change Keys too.

The Benifit of this is that you can have pregame menus where you can show pics, show credits, play movies, or not. It is going to be made to be flexible to your needs. The price, of course, is .01£ which can be given to a local charidy of your choice.

Latter, I will try to make a GUI so that you can build your menues, but I want to know if anyone is interested in this before I get it go all crazy over it.

Good idea mate...very useful. If there's a way you can work out how to invert the Y axis of the mouse for a single user in a multiplayer game too that'll be fantastic (but not sure if that's possible!)

Cheers!

Merranvo,

An excellent suggestion - that would be an inavaluable aid to FPSC gamemaking. If it could be incorporated to show multiple screens then one could tell the initial storyline - show an overview of characters descriptions, weapons and that kind of thing.

An options screen would be useful which if it was possible might include a play game option to run the game .exe.

I apprerciate that thats asking a great deal though so anything you can do is likely to be a great help to users - sadly such an interface is lacking currently by default and would make the prog feel much more professional.

Thank you

lol, anyways, since I REALLY don't want to get flamed by EVERYONE on this forum, I am forced to agree, yes, I love the idea Merranvo, your the best! Once again you've rescued us from our own lack of scripting knowledge! This is definently something we need!

You should change the price to $1, all funds go to TGC's!

@1001 0110 0001:

In your post, were you:

a) Creating a company.
b) Asking for people to help you with your FPS Game.
c) Asking what color is Red?
d) Team Request?

More than likely if ANY of the above were done, you were smacked out.

Greetings

First post here and new to FPSC... Just installed the commercial version.

I've been watching your threads, work and site Merranvo and I appreciate what you've been doing for this community.

Seen from here, seems that such a piece of code would certainly solve most of my problems at the moment, even if I'm just testing the software for now.

Go for it and good luck.

@Sunflash

It's not scripting in FPSC. It's a program that eithor is just like Rastaman's, or it makes an FPSC script.

oh, here Sunflash, have a sherbet!

I am glad to report that progress on this is going smoothly.

Just as a note, this is a menu creation system. You start off with a black screen, however, you will be able to load images, video, sounds, and write text to the screen.

I am developing it to be able to load multiple games, so that 1 menu can control upto 20 games (arrays are giving me problems)

Image Support for BMP, JPG, TGA, DDS, DIB or PNG format.
Sound Support for WAV, AIFF, AU, SND, MIDI or MP3 format.
Video Support for MPEG, AVI or Quicktime format.

Latter, I will see about making it more drag and drop, but for now it is in script format.

state:0
text:hello,50,50
text:this is a long sentence,50,52
text:this is a button,50,60
button:1,50,60,10,4

I know it looks complicated at first, but I am trying to make the scripts as simple as possible. (textfont, textsize, textcolor added latter).

If all goes well, it should be out by the end of the week.

Merranvo, I've noticed latly that .TIF images are becoming very popular, and the thing about them are, they're VERY good quality! Would you mind looking into making your program .TIF compatable? Just a suggestion, I know your busy, so please, don't do anything that you don't want to. I just like giving suggestions.

@Merranvo:

I got the array thing working. Shoot me an email when you get a moment, seems like you are working on the same thing (in part) I am. I got the Save Game working with a menu system (you see a screenshot of your save game). Still working on Loading the save Game.

A restatment, this is an outside program that runs the exe. It can (and will) create a setup.ini, but is reliant on you copying the file originally by yourself. Key changing is avialiable, as will window sizing.

I'll start building sample menus while trying to fix a few remaining errors. Mainly positioning and geting a backdrop to work. All in all, things progress at their own rate, but they progress well.

OMG...dude....now monster is just pissing me off.

he takes everybodies ideas, steals them, then charges for them. NOBODY BUY MONSTERS MENU SYSTEM. there will be an open source one released here for free. it will be way better.

....seriously though...theres no other explaination. we talked about and solved the jetpack problem....here comes monster with a jetpack expansion...

we were talking about how much everybody wanted a menu creation system...here comes monster...with a menu creation system.

if i am wrong, then i sincerely appologise, but i HIGHLY doubt i am.

It's annoying, I agree, but I don't have real problem with this.

He sees what we want and supplies it. It's kind of smart if you think about it.

And the alternative jetpack script doesn't work, or I'm not brainy enough to make it work...whatever.

If you don't want it you don't have to buy it.

Of course he'd have more friends if he gave his stuff away, but until people start doing this he's fine.

Lots of people are doing the pack thing, not just him.

Don't bother Bullshock. It's a question of market. If there are free ones, his will have to be better or offer something else for a price.

He is doing his thing, the rest is doing theirs, the community wins.

I agree, it is good business sense. This said when your competeing at this level it is a little underhanded.

Not sure what it is about Moster, but for some reason whenever I see something new from him it just irks me a little.
Nothing against him or his merchandise, but just get this irking feeling. :shrugs:

Who cares anyways, provided there is something. There's nothing stopping people competing.

i know...but it just gets me really mad when something like the jet pack gets released. merranvo worte thet script for the jetpack in that thread...and now monster is selling it.

and raven...i know what you mean about that feeling...he releases stuff on the dbpro forums too. he comes in, posts about what he is selling, then no one ever hears from him again...untill he has something new.

thats why....i asked merranvo if he was going to make this open source...he said yes.

I URGE YOU NOT TO RELEASE THE SOURCE FOR THIS MENU CREATION TOOL. it might end up in monsters next project.
