@Tomu:

Nah, I did that on purpose, but I cannot remember why (long time ago). I think you said something bad about my mother...

It is now fixed.

Come on guys, his packs are 4.00 bucks. Nothing in life is completely free. The so called free media has a price tag of giving credit somewhere on your game. Do you know how hard that really is to keep track of. I had a few models from the free world and I really have no idea anymore where they came from. I've removed them so I don't offend someone by not giving them credit.
I prefer to pay 3.99 and not have to include credits in something I might or might not use.
I also think that once Riker 9 is released cellbloc... should take donations to keep the project going (like most open source projects) because there appears to be lots of room for improvement.
Respectfully,
Tomu

I thought I had posted before, but obviously not. What I was thinking on the subject of saving - I think it would be nice (if possible) to have the option between autosave and manual save. For instance, in my game it would be good to add strategy by having to reach a savepoint before I die, something missing from a lot of games today. Ahh, I remember the good 'ol savepoint days...

@Jiffy:

Correct. Currently the "QuickSave" button is "F5" but you can change it to whatever you want (you can change all the keys!), then you "Save Point". These are Trigger Zones in the game where as a Player will hit and it will Automatically Save.

Does that answer your question/statement?

I think what Jiffy is saying is that he'd like the option to disable the quicksave key for games that he wants to force saving by save point.

I was just wondering if at some point in the future it is going to be possible to have projectile weaponry in multiplayer.

I know it won't be in R9, and it's not your focus, but it would be nice to know if it's a possibility for the game I'm making.

This is something I would have no problem paying for.

@Lon & @Jiffy:

If you want to "Disable" the QuickSave key, it is REAL easy.... Set it to Nothing and therefore their is no Key assigned to Quicksave and the person cannot Quicksave.

@transient:
As I have mentioned before, I really don't give a hoot about Multiplayer since I NEVER play multiplayer games (multiplayer games suck on a Dialup connection). But to add to that, since I am developing this as a universal update, I will take a look into it. My main focus is:
1) Get features that were somewhat promised or understood to work, working now (Save Game, Load Game, etc).
2) Speed up the game play.
3) Fix some Entities issues (floating ammo, objects disappering when walking too close).
4) Add to the AI/Scripting Language for more control over other Entites (You can have a allied "table" armed with an assult rifle chasing a enemy Zombie around and shooting at to KILL it).
5) Terrain (Quite! It's really sweet what's working now, for I have increased the size of the grid to 100 x 100, BUT the Editor doesn't support it yet!).
6) Bug fixes that I can fix as shown in the Bug Forum. Some of them are just plain silly, and I am not going to touch them.
7) Check on Multiplayer (Hopefully then I will be in the States with REAL Internet Access insted of 14.4k Dialup!)

Speeding up the gameplay would be cool.

I wasn't submitting a request list as such, just wondering if it was possible.

You should obviously work on what suits you best, it's your baby...and your releasing it gratis which is nice.

Did Raven help you? She said she found a lot of the slowdown errors.

Nice, terain, is is premade?

If Monster steps in, and fixes all the stuff you fixed what will you do? (Don't put it past him)

And finally, what are you doing with Lee's jokes (like 100 weapons?, rem add latters, and Really Bizare Stuff)

@"The Other Monster"
Terrain is not premade. Using the Advanced Terrain plugin, it will create a terrain based on bitmaps you give it (therefore dynamically creating the heightfield). Change the bitmap and you change the terrain.

If "Original" Monster steps in and fixes the issues I have thus describes, more power to him.

I don't have a problem increasing the size of the GunArray to something bigger, but then again, how many Guns can you carry around?

Ladders work somewhat. I have to disable collision detection to get it to work correctly but at the moment, it doesn't know when to stop climbing! Will hopefully have it working sometime soon.

@1001 0110 0001:
Sure! I can send you the EXE. What email would you like it sent to? I will add it to my list.

Not a problem. As I mentioned, I am not releasing squat until they release the Final 5.9 and I have added my changes and tested, then I can email it to you.

Hopefully sometime this month but you never know!

Monster Alter Ego: Now, I don't know if this is excaly works, as I haven't been able to test it, but you might want to add this stuff:

Ok, first go to the gun settings type. It should look like this:

Now, Add This:

Right above endtype.

Now, got to Gun Firing Control. Change it to something like this:

Now, compile and save whereever to test. Before you test, go to Files\gamecore\guns\modernday\mossberg and open up gunspec. Under accuracy = 15, Add:
shotgun = 1

Please test it, and if it works, could you send me an exe with it? I would really like to see if my creation works.

@Conner94:

I will try this weekend. I have change a lot of the code to read from files, instead of hard coding values in the actual program.

You defined the gunsettingtype, which is fine, but all the stuff like "gunmode=101" have been replaces to "user friendly" text files that you can edit at your leisure. So if you wanted the shotgun to be very accurate or in accurate, you change it in the script file.

*BUT* with that said, I will straight import your changes into the original unmodified version of the Source Code and test it for you (since that is what you are viewing anyways). If it looks like a winner, I can send you the exe of just those changes.

Sounds good?

[EDIT]
It didn't compile. Got an error that the "shotgun" type was wrong. Let me look it over again.

Hey, could you make double weild (no hands) that way we could hold the flasslight and a gun at the same time. And what could you do for Melee battles? Could you make the script, then sombody work on making the FPSC characters have a Wound-Censor (shot to the head is an instant kill, leg is a wound, they go slower, two shots to the stumach is a kill .etc it would be neat if you could also change thes settings in the characters properties ). However, I understand that this is a long-term project, but it would still be cool.

When FPSC gets good enough, lets make a Redwall game!

And if you do end up making Melee attacks, would you consider making a crossheir for a slingshot? (the type you swing above your head). It would be cool if you had a circle, and it would move in a continuous round about motion, but the longer you twirl it (hold the mouse down) the steadier it would get. But it would never stop, and if you walked, it would widen out. This might not be the place to ask thing like this, it's just, I can't help but notice, this seems to be the only place that get things done around here.
Thanks for listening

@Sunflash:
No Melee attacks right now. Not even close to being possible due to the collision system is not build to handle that. When the 6.0 update comes out, it is supposed to address all those.

THEN I can add support for Melee attacks, head shots, leg shots, etc.

James, is the exploding debris/gib portion of the engine hard coded? It seems the models for exploding boxes and barrels etc. debris is unchangable. You mentioned you were accessing the engine's features via external text files. Maybe the same could be accomplished with changing these models so they could actually match what blew up if we import our own models.

Yes, I have added a feature to allow you to specify the type of "FragmentDebris". This is also done with the script so yep, not to worry about things being "hardcoded". What I am trying to accomplish when I get back to working on that section is "multiple" Debris, such as if you shoot a crate, there could be glass in there, therefore that would also explode. The problem I ran into was I can see people doing multiple and it gets back to my question, when is "enough is enough".

Wait until you see the steam vent that makes the player float! When you shoot the vent, the physics system kicks in and throws you back from the explosion!

I'm talking to much, let me get back to coding.

Let me fix the Shot Gun Stuff...

Set ACCURACY To 32-64
there is also a number of projectiles thing, that should be 5-8

The only other problem is that the shot gun rate of fire is esentally 0.

no... it is no real code...

Lee just set the VALUES for the shot gun wrong... Both settings are availiable in the same place where you edit ammo and dammage (p.s. Dammage should be low if you have many bullet streams). Most people don't use big enough numbers so it doesn't do much to create REAL shotgun settings. I put in 32, with 5 streams, and it works great, a little too accurate, but much better then before.

I would hate to be on the wrong side of that Mech. lol.

Why did you go back to cell block? It is FUN being monster, although not as much as his suprise originally was when he saw me posting as him... lol. Bugs in Apollo, easy to find if you want to search.

Cool becouse the quality of the games will be so mutch higher when the DBP and Blitz3D users will start using FPSC now when they will hear about this update! (but I guess they dont read our FPSC forum) So TGC can tell them about this for them. They wourld sell hundreds of FPSC copies after this update!

What really funny is that Mr Love told me NEVER to reply to any of his posts! Now he´s praising Cellbloc Studio (well, as Monster)! This is way too funny.

Mr Love:
From my observations, Monster doesn´t *give* anything away free (I could be wrong, but at this very moment in time, it´s true). The person mainly responsible for Riker 9 is your long lost hateful friend Cellbloc Studios.

The Riker 9 project is in part a community project mainly handled by one person, Cellbloc Studios. As of the moment, I have been collecting other people´s wishes and desires in the FPSC and seeing what I can do to make it come true for them.

Rest assued, when it does get released, Monster´s name will be NO WHERE to be found in the credits.

Take care!

P.S.
Don´t triple post. Makes you look like your 13.

OMG..cellbloc...i just remembered about this...i hope its not to late...

but can you do weapon swapping? i know it would be a lot of work...but im making a halo style game...and its not gonna be the same if you have 9 weapons then if you only have to do 2...

merranvo and i attempted it in fpi...but found that was currently impossible. if you can do anything about this, i would be very greatful...

Keep up the good work!!

Everyone's Monster right now. Monster is Monster (who has always been Monster, person from ACCODE), Cellbloc is Monster (Who had been Cellbloc and recently Monster's Alter Ego), and I have no idea who Merranvo is now. Probably Monster! You can tell Monster and Cellbloc apart from the Location.

EDIT: I've come across a revalation! Merranvo is of course the Monster with the location 'Merranvo in Disguise', Cellbloc's is 'a.k.a Cellbloc Studios', and Monster's is the infamous 'Cyberspace'. There. I didn't even know three people could share the smae name!

@BULLSHOCK 2:
Can you give me a better description of "Weapons Swapping". Pretend for the past 2 years that I have never played a computer game and therefore don't have a clue of what a "Halo Style" type is.

@Jiffy:
Good call Jiffy! I didn't realize that people were not looking at the Location part.

@Lost in Thought:
For my old Georgia buddy, yeap me too! Did some more work last night but got very little done. I get scared sometimes that everything is working great and then the final comes out and breaks, oh, collision again or something silly like that. Currently with the betas, it's only wigged out a couple of times, but I have my notes for when it does hit the final and I get the wonderful pleasure of testing EVERTHING again.

Hey, what about a "print=type text here" command? The default position should be where the text goes to say "Press Enter To Open Door" or "Door Requires A Key", but you should be able to set the position by typing "printposition=567*654print=hello world" the only problem is seperating the two commands, you want it to be sorta the same, or at least in the same place. Have your way with it

Oops, I thought up something more, what about fonts? It would be nice if the default font was the one they use in FPSC, but what about editing text size? Think about it, what if there was ten fonts? Nice thought isn't it? Darn, I keep thinking of it as HTML, thats an easy cammand, I'll be coding FPI, then notice I slipped an HTML command in on accident... I love that code (HTML) it's so easy.

Oh well, definently something to think about, if you wanted to take this up in this version, I could see if anybody can make fonts here.
lol, when I started thinking about people making fonts I thought, you'll need there names to put them on credits, then I thought "Credits!" we need a credit page! It would be cool if when you ran the game .exe, along with the, Play Game and Quit to have a Credits page where you could choose what happens (I.E words slowly move up like on movies, fade text in then out for each name .etc).

I don't know, this stuff might be hard to takle, lol, and I meant this to be a SHORT post

@Sunflash:

Credits currently can be scripted.
Text position is also scripted but not in the way you described.

Font. Depends on what type of font your talking about. TrueType would be easy while Bitmap Font would be harder.
