Sorry, it just didn't seem like you...
I downloaded it, and I liked it. You should just slow down a little slower, and the enemies should be a little bigger (they are too hard to shoot). But nice game so far. I would like to see the 3rd demo with the new enemy models!

If you follow the update list... You'll see that the only thing I'm missing to do now is to test it! Then demo 3 will be released! I was sure I had more on that list! But apperantly I hadn't

I surely doesn't hope that too! Infact I fixed a huge bug in the game today! I somehow forgot to delete the enemies bullets, which when you had played the game for while the fps would start to drop VERY much. And then followed by a "object already exist" error. But it's taken care of now! So this adds a big + to Demo 3!

Yes Infact there is already a highscore system in it! It is based on how many points you've got and what "army" you made it to. The army is everytime you kill all enemies... And example would be:

There is 3 enemies flying around(This is army 1), shoot them all and there will appear 4 new enemies! You've now reached army 2 etc...

When you're back in the menu, you can read your highscore in the top left corner It will appear until you beat it, and a new one will come! My ultimate goal would diffinately be to get online highscore in the game!

Hi all!

Little new update here. Today I just took the time to implement a little 3D background for the menu, so it would not look as boring
Here you got a screenshot:


Sorry about the buttons, I made them. It's my first try on making buttons anyway, so they will just be placeholders. Also in the picture, the ship is a little too much to the left, it's taken care of.

Also a little note to anyone, if you beta test the game, you will of course be included in the credits.

Oh and by the way, have anyone found the modable file in the media folder yet? You can change the background of the game with that one! Hehe.

Hi!

The beta testing was very quick! And it seemed to work(Yes.. Only 1 person tested it. So the demo 3 is uploaded! I hadn't got the time to collect the others, It was so close to release anyway... I already seek beta testers to test Demo 4 when it's ready. That way I have more time to plan all that have to do with beta testing etc... So if anyone is interested then please tell me Same way as before, email me.

I like it

The options and credits don't work on the menu but my guess is you know that?

The texture on the cloth at the beginning needs work - perhaps a nice log with a black background would look cool as then only the logo flapping rather than the whole square would be visible - also, hide the boxes in the top corners

The Planets in the background still look squished - would you like me to try and edit the textures to make them scale better? Also if you would like some music theres some free mp3s for games on my site using the same log-in details I sent you before for model pro

Anyway good job its a fun game and progressing well I like the enemy ships they look great in the top down view and the particle and shooting effects are cool

Yeah, indeed it needs work. I made it, that's why
Cool idea about the logo thing! Sure I will look into this.

I'm ashamed... I haven't even thought about the boxes... This will change. Thanks for the reminding hehe.

Ok. Good Job! I really like the blanket type effect at the begining of the game
Suggestions:
*Make enemy ships face the direction they are going
*make them shoot more randomly(when they are just created, they all shoot at the same time)
*Make the player ship lighter! It is so hard to see!!
*The credits and options buttons launch the game
*More kinds of enemies(I'm sure you will get to this)
*Sound when you are hit by an enemy bullet

I know why they're shooting at the same time each time they start. That's because all the enemies are giving a variable to count down when they are shooting. And in the very start, it's 0. I could change this

i just played demo3. and it was way better than the other ones
good job. i only made it to army 6 though .^^ you should add more particles, perhaps some flame particles when the player have less life

Hi all!

I just got a little new feature implementet (Thanks to Lukas W for the idea). When your energy is lower than 40, the fire particles behind the player will change to smoke! Here is a little picture of it:


It looks better in the game thought, the picture makes it all a little dark. The particle is made with my Particle Engine Just like the fire particle. The textures I use was following with Cloth and particle pack, so I can't take credits for those.

Also the background is changed so the planets dosn't look squished... Thought it still looks like they do in the pictures... But that's just the pixel size that do it.

Small Update

Right... First of all I've implemented a small new feature to the game... A pause system I find this one very helpfull. Then I've also fixed a bug! Now the ships finally points in the right directions!

And another thing... SpaceBattle Shootout just got a website! I made it in Frontpage... But it looks good enough anyway...

Small updates too.
I've made a small ending sequence when you lose! Looks really cool!
The player ship starts to rotate and at the same time, the camera starts to zoom in on it. And as last, the ship explodes.

Next thing I'm gonna get into the game, is gonna be lifes. And after that, I will hopefully get a power-up system implementet!

Also the new enemy is implementet! I don't have a screenshot right now, but I will get one up tommorow

Update

Hi guys!

Yet again, sorry for the lack of updates But I'm here with a little update now!

First of, it may be time to show more of the newly implemented ending sequence

Here is a picture of it:


When you lose, the camera will start to zoom in to the ship, while the ship rotates faster and faster, and at last it explodes

Also the achievement system is now implementet! So now I can easely add new achievements to the game!

I ain't stopping to update just because I don't get any comments!

Today I will take on skiing holiday! And I will not be home again before around February 11(in 2006 of course... Hehe)

But I still worked on the game today! And some of the new stuff must be that I made the window system timed! So now the window will disapear at the same time on every computer... So you can get a change to read the text I'm very happy with this update!

Then I've also just implemented the first weapon upgrade to the game! It's quite simple, but effective. It will increase the damage done by your lasers with 1. Maybe it dosn't sound as much... But it's very effective in the game.

Also I'm started to implement new buttons to the menu. They look alot better than the old ones!

I haven't bumped into any fps problems yet... Right now the game runs really good. And that's constantly running on 66 fps! Even when the window shows.

If you leave any questions and comments I will answer them as soon as possible(When I get home... I will not have access to the internet on the holiday...)

Update

Okay, a small update here

Today I started to implement new weapon upgrades(and I've done that), also I'm currently working on a shield!

Here's how it currently looks like:


Any comments and critics would be appriaciated on the look of the shield in those early stages That way, it's easier for me to go after what the user want from the very start.

Right now, the shield don't have any functunality at all... So that's what I'm gonna work on tonight. I also have some plans for this shield... Just like you can - by upgrades - increase the laser damage, I think it would be cool if you by upgrades, would be able to increase the shields power and lifetime etc...

What the shield is for? Oh... Just so you can't take damage in a decided amount of time It should be very effective in the higher levels!

Update

Hi all!

Today I just squashed a bug that have annoyed me some time now! I'm very pleased with this! What the bug did? Well... I don't know if you guys have noticed it, but for every new army you make it to, the more the enemy lasers increase in speed. Of course this could have been used to make it harder... But if I did this, I would be impossible to get too far in the game...

I'm gonna work more on the shield today too

Update

New update!

I've optimized the code, and also made the game more stable by removing more bugs

Also I've new got the shield system implementet! And it works very well.

I'm gonna balance some more things in the game, add more upgrades, and then I think we're ready for a demo 4!

DEMO 4 RELEASED

Hi all!

Demo 4 is finally here! Or you could call it Demo 4 beta... Because there are still a bad thing about it... The menu looks awfull right now But it will of course get fixed... Here's the download link!:

Again, a readme file has been included where you can read about changes and new features... And a new achievement and weapon upgrade text document has also been included, where you can read about the current achievements and weapon upgrades in the game, and how to get them.

Use the shield by pressing the "s" key... Note that you'll have to unlock it first! Find out how to do that by looking in the Achievement and weapon upgrades document...

I need to balance the shield more thought... Will be done in next release.

Excellent!! I love it!

A few things:

It's quite dark and hard to see everything
When you kill one enemy some others just come up randomly
I think it would be better if it had a more asteroids type movement


Other than that I find it very addicting! Well done!

Hmmm... It ain't that on my computer... Could you maybe provide a screenshot?

Maybe you're a little confused about the army system It starts off at army 1 with one enemy... Shoot that, and 2 will appear, shoot them and 3 will appear etc... And they do start off in random positions.

Mines now work! You can place mines up blow up the enemies!
