Ya see, its hard to play a song youve never heard when its only the tab without the musical stave because a tab alone doesnt specify the beats per bar and so. Also you have to know the rythm of the song by hearing it first

@ Petrats Bro - Argh *Kangaroo2 hits himself 4 being so stupid* - You're right it is called "Good Ridqnce" not "No Regrets" - 'Doh Sorry I knew that but remembered it wrong - its been so long since I actually looked at the sleeve, I keep all my music on an MP3 Jukebox now

Hey Every1 Petrats Brother recorded Polly by Nirvana for me Ok Admitedly its hardly a guitar showcase style song but I love it and he's certainly done it justice. Some nice dynamics in the vocals, and the harmony's cool

http://www.mywestsomerset.com/polly.zip

Nice1 Man, its pretty good

err..Polly is like way too easy. That's just like...Jammin' a chord or two on three fingers(3-6 months of guitar and you're passed this level).

I TOLD YOU get him to play some Yngwie Malmsteen! That's about the only way he can distinguish hisself from the other guitarists I know...Or maybe Stevie Ray Vaughn although even I play some...

Can't play AC/DC? How about Led Zeppelin? Play The Song Remains the Same, or Achilles Last Stand, or Rock N Roll, or even better ... Dazed and Confused (with a violin bow) I can help, if you need a back-up or solo buster

P.S. Whole Lotta Love anyone?

P.S. This is what the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

What, you didn't even go with Jimmy Page, who is the best In some people's opinion. Tell me he's heard of Led Zeppelin o_O If not, he should start studying Jimmy religiously. I'm serious, get him to play the live version of Dazed and Confused, and i'll bow down to him. It's only 25 minutes long.

Does he know any Jimmy Hendrix?

P.S. This is what the alphabet would look like if Q and R were eliminated.

and petra... you never heard any AC/DC... all tunes from them are good..

he should play:

-Whole Lotta Rosie ,from Ac/Dc

does every one is agree for him to play this tune?...good and hard enough...

Delutions of Grandure

Personally I don't like the way 'Rock' music is going. Linkin Park, POD, all those guys stink. Just give me some Static-X, Stabbing Westward, KMFDM, Fear Factory, Type O- Negative, and Rammstien.

yeah, but you can't deny that linkin park r a class outfit, even if they r not ur cup of tea. I'm an earl grey man myself. Their last album, hybrid theory, sold millions. That isnt the sign of a shit band, is it now kids? and I'm sure meteora will follow in the same trend, dispite the imminant "death of nu-metal", apparently. bye

If sales indicates the quality of an aritst then Britney Spears and many other pop "queens" as well as numerous boygroups can't be shit either.

I'm a fan of 'real' 'old school' 70s/80s metal, and many of what are considred to be respectable new bands too. I agree that many 'nu-metal' bands are very predictable, commercial, soundalike, mass manufactured crap. But imho Linkin Park certainly aren't any of those. Hybrid Theory is one of the most promising debue albums I've ever heard. Sum 41s "All Killer No Filler" is also pretty good. Mind you, that only 2 really new bands I can think of, I certainly am not keen on Papa Roach, Limp Bizkit, or even worse, poppy crud like Busted or Avril.

On a slightly different tac, does any1 like NoFx? I've been getting in2 them recently and about half of their stuff is good imho Also what about Rage Against the Machine (I like ) and Less Than Jake (I'm not sure yet, but I don't hate )

heh

I've been a long time into alternative music(nonono the real under-stuff) and most if not all groups in that industry suffer from the sales and yet make awsome music...Simply because they're not only in it for the fame, money or else...Like Mrs. Spears who really learned how to sing lately and has got more to show than to let hear(daddy paid for the operation)....or better a llama example would be Madonna, just the name says it all

Petrat:Has you brother checked out on Yngwie Malmsteen,I mean, you could blindly buy an album from this guy...He's that perfect.A good example is when he plays classic guitar because this is when you can hear the mistakes he could make...but doesn't.

Yep, and most of them are allowed to do what they want to do, rather than the producers, managers and label bosses.

Madonna is a good example. Her output very much depends on what producer and composer she or her label choose. (Could be the same for Britney Spears in later years.)

Agreed - I loved the William Orbit Stuff, can't stomach the rest

"Could be the same for Britney Spears in later years."

I LOOOOVE Britneys Vocal Qualities - but dislike the vast majority of her music. When I become properly not just slightly famous, if I ever get the chance to work with her, I'd love to get her to do some actually respectable stuff, her raspy yet young sounding voice could be exploited fantastically Pop just doesn't suit her

True, the "Ray of Light" album had some fresh elements in it. Only problem is that good ol' William used these elements in every other album he produced later on, too. And they weren't that fresh then anymore.

Empty - "So you want to be a rock star?" Wags tail and barks

I was one of those lucky yet unfortunate sorts who became very famous very quickly a few years ago then dissapeared in2 obscurity just as quickly I was on TV and Radio a lot and I lapped up the attention, free stuff and money

I'm actually now in an Indie band, a punk(style) band, a Hip-hop combo and I DJ I love them all, but I've had the most success with (and am probably best at) rapping - won a few lyrics contests and freestyle comps etc.

"at least not as long as the stuff she's currently doing sells well enough"

lol yep but it isn't really anymore is it? Maybe when she grows up a bit

"The only thing that I can't stand is to stretch every 4rth woooooooooooooooooooooord over all scales and that multiple times"

OMG Thats like one of my real pet hates in female singers.

Has any1 heard "Don't Falter" by Mint Royale and Lauren Laverne (she used to be in Kenickie I think?) - Just heard it and it has a weird effect on me - I find it strangely moving, not sure why

I think I've heard that story before. Often.
I skipped the part of becoming famous and joined a band who was already famous in 95. But the band split-up only 1 year and 2 months later. So I guess it's basically the same story. But what is fame- as long as I can pay the bills, I don't care.
