thanks, but you dont need an absolutely brilliant modelling program to make good models, its more about the persons skills, anyone can model well
weapons are the easiest things to model, you'd be suprised, if you think about it, all they are made up of, are basic primitve shapes, altered and extruded in places... thats the concept of box modelling

in fact, here is my

but thats how i learnt, i just kept making guns over and over, then it got accurate, then i went onto UV mapping, and ripping textures from images
i can make pretty much any weapon now, with proper side referance images, its very easy
i might make a video tutorial on weapon modelling soon, they can actually be made very quickly, when the right methods are used
EDIT:
christ, after looking at that gun, and then the sword i just finished, ive come a long way!
