I've definitely noticed already that the demos aren't a good example of FPS speeds. They are a good example of functionality and usage, but I would suggest nobody loses heart when they see 15FPS in a demo. For example, the bridge demo crawled on my compo which worried me a bit until I turned of shaders and reflection and then it ran so fast I couldn't actually see what was going on.
Similarly, some of the ragdoll demos seem a bit slow, but I switched off the frame limiter on the one where the ragdolls drop out of the sky all over the place, and got between 80 and 300FPS, normally around the 200 mark.
So at the moment the performance looks pretty damn good!
I remember seeing a newton demo where 2 ragdolls falling on top of each other dropped the program down to about 30FPS. No sign of any problems like that in DP. 20 odd rag dolls falling out of the sky and it was all running fine.
