Zappo, I inform you dearly that the dead pixel resembles the Nazi symbol. Maybe tilt the upper legs down?

Other than that it does look good ANd I like the design

While that is very good, isn't the contest supposed to be retro gaming themed?

Indeed, the theme of the competition is retro games development inspired designs so if you could all send designs based on that I would be very pleased!

Keep being creative, everyone!

Here is another one from me which should be suitable for any light coloured shirt.

Edit: It looks a little jagged on screen but its in vector format so it prints as smoooooth as silk.

or do you mean to say you took every single one of those shots, or asked for permission to use them?

Not to mention he used alot more than 4 colours, as did everyone else, and yes AA counts as more colours as it has a gradient to round the edges off, and as mentioned above the copyrighted things like those images of those (crap) singers/rappers and the car.

Yours has Anti-Aliasing around the edges of everything, and thus has alot more than 4 colours, but that could easily be fixed.

Guys, just do your best to stick to the guidelines in the first post and I'll let you know if any changes need to be made if I feel your design is the winner. But a general note that should be considered is that I can't use designs that feature famous people or game characters or anything else of that nature as they are too likely to be copyrighted. Creating something original is far more interesting anyway!

Anyone have any ace designs they want to submit? Maybe you could be inspired by the feelings that make you want to play and make games? Why do we love them so much? Is it purely the feeling of being in another world or is it the challenge of completing a game or getting your top score? Maybe you could be inspired by the first game you ever played?

Here's my new one. Original is huge and layered, so no worries there.

dark coder: Mine have only four colours. The versions you see on the screen are PNGs so are antialiased. The printable versions are vector format so only contain four solid colours. They could be printed out to the size of a house and still be smooth and only use four colours.

Edit: Here is another quick one from me. Pretty simple but I thought it was quite funny.

This is going fine! Two more tips from someone who sells 8 million t-shirts per year:

1. Of the last two Zappo submissions, both of which are very good, the second might play better for two reasons: (a) less text is generally better, (b) in the first of the two, the line thickness of the lettering on the monitor screen is a bit slim, and t-shirt printing has much less resolution than what you see on monitors displaying the same size area.

2. Select the color of the blank, if you can, to represent the solid color that will comprise the bulk of the interior of your design. If you are selecting a white background and your design features an illustration of a computer monitor with a large black screen, you are laying down quite a bit of ink. The blank shirts that are to be used are less in fabric weight than what major retailers are selling, and large areas of print might create "breathing" issues.

3. To the extent you care about how well the design sells, and given that the theme is "retro", conceive of the purchaser (for a t-shirt) as a male aged 14 through 22, and conceive of what HE would regard as retro, even if it is time-phased from what you regard as retro.

Just realized that some might not know what I meant by fabric weight. The blanks that your design will be printed on weigh 4.3 ounces per square yard. (This is obviously density rather than literal weight, but that is how the industry uses the term.) Most t-shirts sold in my neck of the universe at retail have a fabric weight of between 5 and 5.5 ounces. So the t-shirts for this compo are going to be somewhat on the thin side. Hence it is best to integrate the color of the blank as much as possible into the interior of the design, and go light on the ink. Fortunately, you have a wide range of choice in the color of the blank.

This sounds right up my ally, however I'm having some problems converting this design to vector form.

oh well, here is a demo of how it'd look. I'll submit the final later.

Haha, that's a great slogan. A similar might have something to do with arthritis: "It's all fun and games until your hands are crippled and you need your nurse to help you go to the toilet"

Thank you, Mr Zappo.

Som it's three weeks in and one more week to go before the end of the competition. Things are getting tense! Do you think you can submit something that would win the competition?

Also, I have some new designs on my site. I think they're great but you can design by viewing them here:

Just a quick reminder that there are only FIVE DAYS until the end of this competition to win $100. If you don't win this but think you have a good design, I am always on the lookout for good designs and will pay for them too. Details can be found here:

This is my last one (probably )

Edit: I toyed with the idea of changing the slogan to "Oh, Joy!" or "Spread Joy!" or "Stick of Joy" (). Any suggestions?

Hi all,

I just want to say many thanks for all of the entries and thanks to The Game Creators for letting me host this competition in this forum. I'm going to look at all of the entries and announce a winner in a week or so. If you don't win, don't feel downhearted as there will be many factors that go into choosing this winning design but feel free to continue to submit design ideas to my site for a chance to get them printed and earn yourself the standard reward!!

Thanks again!

And the winner is.........

ZAPPO!!!

with the joystick design attached! Zappo wins $100 and will get his design used and sold on the site. He'll also get a free t-shirt with his design on it.

I would just like to say thanks to everyone for their input and designs. It was great fun to see what you all had to offer and don't feel disheartened if you didn't win but I felt this design suited the kind of thing I'm looking for at the moment and wasn't too similar to any designs that I'm currently selling.

If you have any more designs to offer, feel free to send them to designs@bangbangt-shirts.com. Payment details are on the site.

Thanks again and I'll post pics of the design when it's printed!
