Ditto, I think he's been very busy lately with the new site and the survey, etc.

Rich did mention the site updates in his last interview with InSider (http://www.darkbasicplanet.com). The tutorials were only one part of the whole process.

@Raven

The writers guide consists of about 14 fairly general points, things like how to introduce your piece, how to finish it, how to explain things, when and where to use source, what to assume about the reader and what not to assume, etc.

And of course, it includes a list of suggested tutorial subjects.

The template contains info on the font, and how to do the various hint / source-code / DBV1 to Pro boxes etc.

Ey rich, I have received an e-mail from my server telling me that the destination computer was not reachable. Here is the full message:

Do I have to resend the e-mail to you, and wait another week?
If you would send me the mail directly, then send it to [email protected]

I haven't received anything back yet of that nature, so Rich presumably received most of the emails sent this week.

I got a tutorial already written and on my site, plus I'm thinking of creating a tut for realistic light mapping. As in lightmapping textured plains with a given light in 3D space. Already got the code working perfectly, now just need a tutorial.

So guess what! Rich, you can add me to the email list too! [email protected] incase it's not listed somewhere else.

I've had a reply (and a good one at that!), but I almost missed it because it got filtered. I can't quite work out why...there were no rude words, adverts for mortgages(!) and it's not on the SpamCop blocked list. Just be aware, check you haven't filtered it out!!!

Thanks in advance.

I don't have a filter, the only emails I get are ones I'm meant to get. I.e. No adverts because I use a personal domain/email.

You're doing well!! I have business email addresses that are only used for business purposes. But it only takes a customer to get a virus and have all his contact addresses stolen for you to suffer through no fault of your own.

I hope you can say the same thing in 6 months time! The longest I managed with a particular address was about 18 months.

Thanks in advance.

I've had mine for 3 years, and only now have I had to start using a filter

A tip to you people: Don't put addresses up like [email protected]. Bots can pick them up and spam them easily. Instead, use Mine (at) address (dot) com. People are smart enough to fill in the At and Dot themselves, but bots aren't.

Secondly, if you have a normalish name (ie. John Smith), don't use [email protected] as an email address, bots are bound to guess it.

For a test I created:

[email protected]

and my current email

[email protected]

Submitted neither to any boards, and mentioned them nowhere. After two weeks:

[email protected] : 15 pieces of spam
[email protected] : No spam at all.

I now receive only 2 or 3 a week with the second address.

I have one important queston, does it count for written tutorials which are DB and DBPro compliant.

When I update to DB pro at end of june, then I will update my star was game, RTS game, and menu system (built form scratch and never before seen on forums) to take advantage of DB pro.

Once done, when it has some nifty features etc. and I learn more of DBPro then I know (I have used other peoples ones before, so I know some already), then i will write a tural for all three things.

if my 2nd tute passes the grade there will be a dynamic object tutorial for you all.

you will not only be able to create and destroy a series of objects but the program shows you how to save them to a simple text file which can be read back in later.

I have to clean up my first tute about limbs, lots of typos and Im still getting the hang of it but after a few small hiccups it should be easier to write them with the rules in mind.

Im building a 3d input panel as another one in the works and a bardstale esque RPG engine is my largest attempt at a tute so far which will take more time than expected but all moving along well.

mouse its grown so large so i will have to cull it down to make it worthwhile my time and peoples sanity

I think one of my tutes made the grade but it needs some more explination at the start relating to more idea usage.
