a good way to start is to get a complete version of db

Well mine was accepted (just a simple Sun Flare one) and I was paid just enough to cover the cost of actually buying DBP lol. How fortunate.

Exeat, how long was your tut? I've been asked to continue with mine (the sample was acceptable). I'm currently on page 8 (Word Doc, 12 point text).

I don't think length is really the focus on wether he accepts it or not. I believe Rich is really looking for easy to understand, clear, in depth tutorials rather then terribly long ones. But since you asked, mine was 9 pages I think.

I've just printed the final draft - 19 pages! I haven't tried to limit or extend it, this is just how it ended up. I don't like constraints, but on the other hand I didn't want to embarass myself with a chapter that didn't make the grade by way of quality or quantity of content.
