Yeh, Hi. I bought the 3d Gamemaker quite a while back and since then I was wondering if you could make your own 3d models and maps to go into it. And just place it into the folder.

However, if it's possible i need to know what software to use that can be exported in that format.

By the way, most "Objects" have these files:

A DAT file for the animation
A DAT file named "model"
A X File with lots of numbers in (i think this is to make it walk or run)
A DDS file called "slayer"
And a thumb image (don't need any help on how to create these lol)

Anyway, is it possible to make the files above and if so what software do i need?

i have no idea what DAT is, i'm guessing its specific to 3dgm

.x is the actual object/animation file, stores information about the faces.

dds is a texture format.

to make .x files, download blender
for dds, there's some tool i think to convert jpgs or bmps to dds, idk...

A DAT file is some file that games always use if you look in program folders and stuff but i have no idea what they do.

and sure u can convertwith blender and use paint to change the texture.

I don't want to change the texture. I wanted to know if there's a way ti create your own model from scrath, in other words is there any way to create the files above? Like a 3d modeller.

DAT files can contain anything you want, they're essentially data files. Some store player spawn positions, some store speaches AI's in a game will say, really anything depending on how you program your game. DAT files are not model files, but they may contain data on how to handle model files.

but blender creates 3d models in a unique format right? So how do you make .x files with it?
