@ 5Louiz

dont worry, i have some plans for those 'spike things' (i dont know either ) but the viewport renderer in max doesnt work well with transparency (on top of another transparent part) so i'll leave this until the end.

@ RUCCUS

yeah the inside is modeled, and the teeth (can be) seperated (just got to disconnect the polygons)

No, not really, ive learned it all by myself mostly.

Quote: "The spongebob impersonator is actually a re-creation of a real cardboard box costume my cousin and I made to wear walking around his city. We attached a giant piece of paper to the back to get people to autograph. I modeled it with a short lived desire to make a free roaming game around the city he lives in."

lol, how completely random, was there a reason for it or just for the thrill? sounds like a funny sight though

edit:

btw, quite a few people have asked me before about metal texturing, and ive justed finished and uploaded this short little picture tutorial which might help a tad, if anyone was interested.

Small update before I go to sleep, I managed to get the rigging right with the arms and hands, just need to tweak the legs a bit and the rig will be done.

Thanks Sepp! I'll definitely check out your tut. And okay, technically it's not my first model it's my second but I accidently saved the zbrush FILE instead of the TOOL and it was gone forever. (Anyone who uses zbrush will probably understand this problem) Anyway, Here's another pic of my monster, it's rigged now. I might make a lil animation out of it. And Ruccus your model is looking hella good

I think its my monitor, its pretty new. I can see good detail on it, all the wrinkles, skin, everything. I guess Ill have to adjust the levels.

Ill edit the post with a brighter pic in a few minutes.

Yeah, I can't see it too well either. Mostly black and this monitor is fully bright and crystal clear.

Hope this is better, any brighter and it starts fading / losing quality. Ill probably redo the entire texture seeing as its too dark.

It was removed for the painting of skin weights. You shoulda seen me trying to get the brush between its back and the saddle. Frustration to the max, yo!

in by, generally means before that date? If it was end of I'm sure it would have been said.

I'm opening up votes on Sept. 13. It really just depends when I log on the forums that day. Please enter models as they are, or at least have something in the entry thread. Unfortuantly, I'm leaving for university in a few days, so extending this competition would mean another one wouldn't get started for quite some time. Normally I would extend it, but I'm afraid I may be absent for quite a few days.

Mike, how about this is extended until Sunday?
Some here can only work on their stuff over weekends.

If the problem with the next one is that you'll be away, don't worry about that too much. I mean we can get another mod to unsticky the current topics.. just make the new topics and sticky them with "TGC Comp 8:See Inside for Details", and the winner of the comp can post up the details on Monday when you're away.

I'm sure Van or another mod who visits these forums can sort out the rest in your absence.

Wish granted. I'm not sure what day the competition started, but from now on I'll try to ensure that at least 2 weekends are given. Due to the extension, I should be able to organize everything on time, but I'll make a note to the other mods just incase.

So heres the preliminary im slow so this took me 2.5 hours last night. Im using mesh smooth three in these renders for the best resulsts but it lokks the same on meshsmooth 1 and is only 9,300 some polys it could be optimized to ~7500 with a little extra work on the riens. Note the riens are wraped around the knobs in theses it was deliberate and i know that means you cant steer w/o unwrapping them.
Next to zbrush for textures

edit ive already rounded out the arms some and added elbow nubs and did work on the hands/knuckles

They probably saw the two legs, and assumed the tail was something *else*. Because it was a front view, it would've looked like that.
