Ply's Mod V1.06

Ply's Mod V1.06 includes everything from my previous versions.

Be sure to look into the ReadMe included so you can get a feel for everything in the newest version.

The download for V1.06 is attached to this post.

[EDIT]

Re-Compiled V1.06, removing the in-game watermark.

Instead, there is a splash screen for "Plystire's Mod" when running the executable outside of the Editor. Also, when running a Built-Game there will be a watermark on the title-screen.

Everywhere else is uneffected.

I hope this encourages more people to use the mod, since the main issue people were having was that the watermark appeared during game play.

[/EDIT]

So many mods and FPSC versions..

Why cant get all features of Lee, EFX, Lemur, Plystire and airmod in one FPSC

Than that would be the ultimate FPSC..

Okay here's my question. Since the weapons are made with right hands, how would you dual wield? Do the weapons mirror themselves or something? If so that would work but otherwise it would look very silly.

I just realized, with the MP10 weapons, wouldn't there be 4 hands on the screen?

Isn't there a 'no hands' variant included in MP10 though? Pretty sure there is...

@FredP:

I understand. When I saw that it was locked, I figured it must have been because the thread was a joke thread.

@Everyone:

No, it's not a joke.

As for models containing hands: the hands will be flipped just like the weapon will be. They will have the same animations as the original model did, so: yes, it will look like you have 4 hands when dual-wielding certain weapons.

I was planning to add an option that would allow you to specify "dual-wield" animations for weapon models, although it wouldn't be required.

@Pus in Boots:

No. This is just a mod for using two weapons imultaneously, not a fix for the "plrdrop" command. I understand the need for such a command, but until I (or someone else) can come up with a way to fix it, we'll just have to deal with not dropping weapons for now. :-

I'm going to touchup a few areas in the mod, such as having the weapon portion of your HUD update when dual-wielding, to allow you to view the ammo of the second weapon. After that, I'll put in it in the trash .. er .. file compactor and throw it up for download.

[EDIT]
Attached requested screeny. This time of a bazooka with a colt. Not a very good combo, but it was interesting to play with.

I am sooo glad to see you guys are still working on Lemur V2. I was starting to get scared of it turning out to be like another Ryker 9 because I have not heard any news in a such a long time. The dual weilding weapons look great. Keep up the great work.

With a simple retexture, you can make your character into an alien and use that to explain the 4 hands...

Sounds great, Ply!

Yes, it was VERY fun!

Quote: "Will it work with 1.08 and 1.09?"

As with all mods currently being made, it is based on the V1.07 source, so any additional features from V1.08 and V1.09 and (sooner or later) V2 will not be there unless stated otherwise by the modder.

Quote: "If you could control each gun, like one button fires right weapon, other button fires left weapon, that would be great, is it possible?"

Sorry, yes, I completely forgot to mention how the mod actually configures the button handling. Well, here it is:

- Holding down the Left CTRL key while swapping weapons will effect your left-hand weapon. This works with pressing numbers and using the mouse wheel to change weapons.

- Zoom/Scope feature is disabled when dual-wielding.

- While dual-wielding: left-click will fire your left weapon, and right-click will fire your right weapon.

- Pressing R to reload will reload BOTH weapons.

- When one weapon runs out of ammo and it has ammo in the "stock" of ammo, it will auto-reload as is normal. This works with both weapons as can be seen in the video (during the last fire-fight).

That about does it for controls.

Quote: "I am sooo glad to see you guys are still working on Lemur V2"

Who said anything about Lemur V2? This is for Ply's unofficial Mod only at this point in time.

Quote: "Will this mod be free?"

You can have one of the following:

1)
Free? Yes
Watermark? Yes

2)
Free? No
Watermark? No

Take your pick.

Quote: "I did realize a little bug... two muzzleflashes are never going at the same time in the video. Only one will flash at a time."

Not a bug.

Each gun has their OWN muzzleflash plain, and it IS possible to have them both visible at the same time. I believe I saw a few points in the video that showed that, but they do flicker so fast that it's hard to tell.

Okay, sorry for not releasing the download as promised. Some personal issues came up, and that always takes priority.

To make up for it, here's a list of things that I'll be fixing up in the mod before it is released:

- Gun HUD will incorporate both guns currently being wielded. This will show both gun Pictures in the SAME picture as well as having both guns' ammo counts.
- Adding a field to the "gunspec.txt" to allow guns that the engine should NOT allow to be dual-wielded. (For big weapons that wouldn't be fair if the user dualed them)
- Each gun will have it's own "ammo clip". As it stands right now, if you used two of the same gun, they would share a clip and would both run out of ammo at the same time.

The watermark will be visible during gameplay, similar to the one that TGC had for the demo of FPSC.

It's actually very small and hardly noticeable.

@Pus In Boots:

You can actually get a feel for the watermark in the video. You see that little black rectangle in the bottom right? That's the watermark. It's the one I've used for all of my unofficial Mods.

Lol, Fred. Nothing like that, but then again......... naw, lol.

I honestly don't see what's wrong with having a watermark. If anything, it'll help with your showcase entries. When people come in and want to know where you got dual-wielding from, they'll see the little watermark and think "Oh, hey, this must be from Ply's Mod! I should go get that!" And not populate your showcase thread asking about it.

And if you ever do want to make your game commercial, you'll have had the FULL mod taken through testing and everything, so you'll know it works and whatnot already. If you're serious about releasing the game commercially then I don't think there'd be an issue with paying for the removal of the watermark.

As for how much the removal will cost... well, I think there will be a pre-requisite for this. You must:

1) Have a game already assembled, USING the watermarked version.
2) The game should be of commercial quality.

I will be the judge of #2.
After those are met, we'll talk about it further.

That is a standard license when using a demo or trial product. It gets a watermark (which doesn't really matter as long as it's not in the middle of the screen) which is removed when you purchase the full product.
This is reasonable.

Now, I don't think this is very fair. Let's say I wanted to buy MP10. TGC says they want to see what i'm using it for. Depending on what they think, they are going to charge me a higher cost, or a lower cost. Plus, I think it's a bit silly that you want someone to show you that they are making a commercial game with it. If I sell something to someone, I don't want to know what they are doing with it, I just sell it.

EDIT: Just read this post:

It's his product and if he wants to be picky about who he distributes it to and hwo then that's fine. It's his name and his rep on the line so he might be a tad bit touchy about who he throws his hat in with.
And,if you do work something out, then forum members know your work will be of the quality that is worth playing.
This is still a standard agreement that many use when distributing their products.
No one can fault a developer if they achieve for excellence.

Look, it may sound silly, but you're asking me to:

A) Remove a watermark on a product that I've put time and effort into.

B) Sell an incomplete product which I don't yet feel is ready for distribution.

Either way you look at it, I believe you are asking a bit much of me right now.

When I feel the Mod is ready in it's own right to be sold, I'll give a set price and it'll go from there. Until then, if you HAVE to have the watermark removed, I'll need a legit reason from you as to why it needs to be removed. The only case I can think of for removing it before I feel it's ready is if you need it for a game that is going to be released BEFORE my Mod is ready for selling.

***** UPDATE *****

Everything is fun and functional!

Right now, I've run into some serious errors, though.

Here's the low down on what's happening:

- During a Test Game, everything runs ABOVE my own expectations of a Mod. This means: Full Shaders are WORKING (Don't know how, but they are, lol), Lightmapping is top quality, and a TON of lag that the regular executable runs into has diminished exponentially!

- During a Run Game (Running the "FPSC-Game.exe" by itself to execute the last built Test Game), everything runs just as it did in the Test Game, save for finishing the level. Upon completing the level it will freeze up... I'm trying to get to the bottom of this. It's not necessary for this to be fixed as not everyone will run the exe in this manner like I do.

- During a Built Game, the menu loads up and has zero lag, however, upon starting a game the loading screen will get to a certain point and then the application will crash completely. This one NEEDS to be fixed before the Mod is released...

That does it for the update, hopefully I can resolve the issue soon and everyone can start playing with it.

I hope the mod will be cheap..
What do you think right now .. 20, 10 dolar?

Ragdoll and Dual wield are the best things of games
And all it will be possible in FPSC X9!
Now i hope that V2 will work with this MOD.

Just discovered what was happening in the built game scenario. Apparently, at some point, some garbage got put into the "select" start frame variable for one of the left-hand guns. (By "garbage", I mean values that are literally trash, like the one I saw was something like -1376593)

Still trying to figure out what's going wrong with the end of level crash, but I'll work more on that tomorrow.

How are you going to go about distributing the mod, a game right? It's illegal to sell on it's own.
