Hey guys.

This is a character i have been working on for a while now.
It will carry a flamethrower in the end.
I had to begin over and over again. Since everytime i thought it looked horrible.
(so there are a lot of pictures)
High poly versions, low poly versions and work flow on the texture.

Hope you like it! It isnt done yet. Still have to texture it.
And finally will make a little scene with this model in it. Render it. And post it over here.

Sorry for all the pictures. But i just had to post them.

Cheers!

Thanks! Glad you liked it!
Starting on the texture right now. So hopefully i can post another screenshot today.

Crusader2 the polycount is 3939. Thats with all of his props. So i'll also be making some different variations without for example the big shoulder pads.
Or maybe different shoulder pads etc.

Great model, I think it needs a few creases in the clothing though.

Thighs look a bit short and the kneecaps could do with being bigger. Other than that, top work, keep us posted.

Looks Really good. There's just something strange where the head pops out of the suit, I think it could be the neck. I think the armor could have benefited more with your sculpting. Possibly some ultra tiny scratches and wear.

Thanks guys! Glad you all liked it!
Fallen one, i am sorry but creases? You mean like folds in the clothing etc?

Paul112 You mean the model that is already textured?
Because the images that are shown.
Are in order like:
First mesh.
Some add ons.
High poly.
Redone it
Started on the texture.
Redone it.
New mesh.

So basically its showing how i began. And where i am now.

Crav3 I agree! But i noticed it when i was starting on the texture.
So a big mistake of me. But yeah! Maybe i'll change that in a future variation.
Right now i am focusing on the texture.

Crav3 i just used a skylight in 3ds.
No special settings or such.
And for some i used a target directional light.
With "area shadows" set on.

Hehe thanks guys! I hope i can finish this character tomorrow.
But! I do think i'll stick with the old flamethrower model i did in my other thread.
And maybe i'll redo it some other day.

Here are some new pictures by the way!
Some pictures showing the progress in the texture.

And that was the last one! Hope you like it.

Cheers.

Hey thanks guys!

Sid Sinister. I have been looking for something where i can hopefully truly increase my skills in modeling, texturing and animations.
Right now i just follow some small tuts.
Wheter its for texturing, 3d models etc...small tips & tricks.
I almost follow anything! So if i do find something that i can do in my free time. I will!
And thanks again man!

ace93 I have been tweaking some stuff on the textures. And made 2 new renders.
Which are basically the same model only without some armor parts.
Oh and guys! When this model will be released.

You can change it looks very easy with textures, which will make it like a whole different model.
How? Well. The armor parts like his shoulder pads, the little clothe and his sort of gas-tank on his back.
Are not welded to the body itself! So with an simple alpha map on those certain parts will make this a whole different model.

But Darryl(cheese cake)? Than it would still have the same polycount, why didnt you created some variations?
Why? Because Butterfingers will rig this if he has the time.
And i didnt wanted to put him in a lot of stress and ask him if he could rig maybe 4 characters which will be released for free!

So thats why. (i know long story)

I highly recommend checking out the tutorials at http://Eat3D.com, specifically the Next-Gen Materials one. They are geared to work with the Unreal Engine 3, but there is a TON of insanely useful info that even I didn't know coming out of a associates degree in animation. I recommend picking up the Unreal Engine 3 also so you can really start testing out your stuff in a true game engine and maybe even join a UT3 mod team.

This is very nice CC, The only crit I have about it is...
To me it kinda looks weird having a full face mask or helmet that looks like it is for some protection, yet the whole neck area is left open. It makes that part of the soldier look like a target.

if that were a real soldier and i was in a war that would be the first place I aim.

Tatts yeah i know you are right...
I wanted to make a different mask... just for fun not for protection.
Cause i wasnt to happy with the first result so.

But i stopped that and just wanted to create the character itself.
Maybe i'll make some more equipment.
For variations

Anomalous it will be in FPSC also i'll release a few other formats for people who dont use FPSC.
And DEMONAIR is right, the high poly version is just for normal mapping.
