You are right, i have the same problem.
But Mr illusionist has made a 3D person script to, that works with PBM, and have the Crouch option and more.
So i think its better to wait when Fenix has combined with PBM.

It looks like that (gun way ahead of screen) when I play a free to play online game. what is the problem making the gun do that (other than crouching)

this is why im sticking to dark basic pro, I was going to use this mod to speed things up in the building prosess but no matter what happens there is always a problem with one mod here or another mod there. I do belive its the way fpsc was writen, I look at the code all the time stating to myself how things could have been done alot difrent in many places. making things alot easier to manage and change in the future. Im not saying fpsc is bad, its real good, Im just saying in some places it could have been writen a little less complecx then it is. but I do understand he had to write it to run along with the editor and he had to make shure no one used it to sell there own engines.I am really concidering writing my own 3rd person engine myself with its own drage and drop editor myself. I have been planing this for a long time but have had alot of other things get in the way.sorry for the ranting, just a little frustrated here,lol.

Maybe that character doesn't even have a walking animation!

but it still has some does it not? when i write a game in dark basic pro I make shure there is no problems at all.The problems arive from fpsc, not the mods.in conjunction with each other there will always be problems somewhere.

You need to use WASD to walk around, for a gun to work you need to assign the character a weapon, for the main weapon make sure the texture is compleatly black

EDIT: Oops I was on page 56 when I posted that

on page 22 there is a download in ZIP. format. Just down load that and place it anywere in your map as long as its in a trigger zone.

Wow, bloom really causes lag.

AaronG remember that you can adjust the bloom strength in such in the .fpi file. Lowering it should still get you a great effect, yet with good frames.

Also, I'm pretty sure to enable third person you place an entity and assign the thirdperson script to his main. Than put a start marker or something behing him.

mmmmm, seems like some kind of skybox error. Usually when you don't have an active skybox the traces appear.

Yes, that happened to me a long time ago, but this is not it. The traces appear, but the level is inside level and it happens on all levels, also the screen is all black.

Well now that I'm back with 3rd Person working, it's quite amazing, although alot of things need editing, haha. If it's possible for the camera to be over the right shoulder a ways, so it's more like GoW, that'd be awesome. (Maybe be making an fpi script for it?)

Just givin' ideas...

...and realistic shooting (muzzleflash) would be great too along with the ability to crouch and be hit.

ok first off: ask all questions about how to get a certain feature working in the official Fenix Mod manual thread
second off: this has already been explained by SanXL and several others and asked about at least 5 times

PEOPLE: read through the posts on this thread and you will find many people answering the questions you are just reposting! I assume hockeykid wants this thread solely for the purpose of feedback and valid bug reports considering he said to ask questions about features on the manual thread

Sorry everyone but lately everytime I check this thread I end up with 2-3 pages of people asking "how do you get the 3d person working????!!!!! the hands are in front of the character and the bloom doesnt work!!!!!" and then someone explaining it to them and then the whole thing repeating itself with new people. Sorry again but its getting annoying.

You need reinstall the update 1.15 or 1.16 open Fpsc-cleaner.exe, press "Y" If finish try again

AaronG has a good computer than me, The bloom is a problem of the performance is not really fixed

Secondly.. I will try to help people with coding issues however I do not have the time to write code for individuals or solve complex issues and I also feel that people should learn to code themselves...

Thirdly, there are 100+ new commands in Fenix mod and I can't pretend to understand to complexities of them all yet... Many of them I have never used.. In addition please note that Fenix Mod and the Manual are FREE to users, that means that you receive help when we can which will be as often as we can....

Lastly.. The features added to FPSC by Fenix Mod have opened a whole new element to the engine and people should enjoy. However if you want a drop and drag system that produces the latest block buster you're all out of luck.. Great games come with hard work!

I can't even run this mod, which is a shame because I was really looking forward to it. Whenever I add any entities, it just crashes at the "built _markers player start.fpe" or any other entities. I do have V1.16, and I did drag the files included with the zip into my FPSC folder. Also, the performance is not too great with the FPS only around 30. With Project Blue, it's going into the 90+ range without full screen shaders.

Is anybody having troubles with the horror mod Flashlight Enabled script ? Ive added it to a trigger zone but doesn't activate >_<

I have the same problem. i used the script that Cyclone gave.
but it doesn't work, only in the 3D person, but also then the light appear behind the character.

@SanXL, Ive made a custom script and it works. Ive attached it

Make a trigger zone over the start marker and apply the flashlight script to it.

Then stop all movment and press F to turn it on and G to turn it off

Enjoy

EDIT :

Rename the script to flashlight toggable, I was making a script so it only turned on the flashlight but got a little carried away

Bug for you Hockeykid: With an alt-fire weapon (and the alt-mode is flak), when you melee it fires the flak projectile. Maybe disable it in alt-mode? I'll send you a test-case for it later if you like.

It does. The gunspec setup is covered in the manual although last I checked it didn't explain how to set up a sound for it (but it may be updated already).

This is on my list of things to do.. I'm currently working through a host of examples for RPG mod Flatlander kindly supplied me with first.

If anyone would like to write a melee tutorial for the manual please let me know, otherwise I'll add it as soon as I can.

Use the third person script in the main script for the entity you want to use 3rd person for. Make sure you still use a player marker.

I wish it was possible to use scripts to read from files which FPS Creator writes, so we could implement true leveling systems which would reimain even after the game has been quit.

why hasn't the frame rate cap been increased to horror mods?

EDIT: is it also supposed to go through building portals twice when testing a game?
