It seems alot of you have problems with shooting in the 3D person.

here are some tips. (this is how i do it)

1) Make a level on layer 0 (normaly you start at layer 5)
2) place your character in the top left corner.
3) Give the charcter in the main the Third person script
4) give it a gun,
5) now go to game core and make the gun and hand textures transparant.
6) now select the gun and place it on the same place the character will start. ( now you have the ability to shoot because you picked up a gun)

Sorry for the double post. But i just played with the rail system.
and you can also use doors. see download

use triggerzones. ( the first door in the clip)

or break entities to open doors. ( the 2ND door in the clip)

Direct from the manual:

BLOOM
bloom = x where x=1 for bloom on and x=0 for bloom off.
bloompower = x sets the power of bloom, this may be a decimal in the range 0-4
bloomscale = x sets the scale of bloom, this may be a decimal in the range 0-2

Bloom example
Experiment with the scale and power of bloom to get the best results. Remember bloom can be very
processor intensive, I'd recommend turning it on only when required for best performance on low-end
machines.

it seems that for all the mods i'v used, everyone ELSE gets lots of bugs and i don't get any. its just like real life for me: i never get sick but all my friends do. this is weird

third person crouching does not work like it should but in all, great mod. I love the way you gave us more control on the ambience and other things. good job.

EDIT, I take this back, crowching does not work period 3rd person or not.

A few questions I feel the manual didn't quite do the job for me on...

1) How do you get bloom working?

2) How do you get 3rd person working?

and finally..

3) The "snow" weather effect looks like the image attached, dunno what to do.

Looks like the snow image isn't being loaded or it's all black, check the 'snow.png' file in the databank folder

Yeah, what bloom script is this talking about? Where is it, and how is it loaded in game, because I cannot find the script, nor don't know how to load a script via trigger zone.

The bloom script is a script I wrote. You can create your own by cutting and pasting the code snippet above.

I've attached a file with this script in, simply unpack it and add it to your scriptbank.

I hope that helps.

Hey, I try to using your mod and Activate the bloom effect and the game is really really slow, 20 fps on my computer FASTER. I think, you need to improve the performance

would bloom work well on:

intel dual core 3.0 ghz
2 GB ram
Dual XFX GeForce 9800gt graphics cards running in SLI?
MSI P7N motherboard

or not?

I get a smooth 20fps on a machine well below your specs.. So I'd guess so.

As stated in the manual, I'd advise controlling the use of bloom for best performance.. Turn it on for certain scenes/room and I'd suggest turning it off for combat.

Gosh, there are so many bugs...

But a lot of these are just not following instructions.

Guys! You are acting like this is the end of the world! Hockeykid just added in 2 more mods into his! You think that there might be a few problems he overlooked? Come on! He'll release a bugfix, I'm sure. He knows it's not perfect, and is working hard to fix it. And some of your problems are just not putting the files in the right spots. Read the manual, if you have a problem with it, discuss it there.

Like I have already said, the bloom is not that great and will be rewritten with the next release. (Actually I considered taking it out until next release but decided that I spent so much time fixing it it would be a waste to remove)

I actually have a very odd bug. The first time I put an enemy in, it's fine, put when he respawns, he has an alphafade of about 20. This happens for all enemies after him to.

What appear script are you using? This might be a source code error not a fenix mod issue as it's been around on and off for awhile now. Try using the appear2 script, this could well solve your problem.

Thanks Scene Commander, that fixed it for now.

@shadowtroid, I see your point about most of the bugs, they are all 90% framerate and how to work bloom, but I had a question on something and I thought I could get a fix for it on the forums, see if anyone else had this and were able to fix it, and I did. If no one said what problems they had how could he release a bugfix. He has t0 know what bugs he has to fix. I see nothing wrong with telling him that this is happening.

I know, and that's ok, but most of this is just functions that don't work, not listening to instructions, or actual glitches that were already stated.

It's ok to state a bug, but just because it happens with Fenix mod does not mean it's a Fenix Mod problem.

I just think it's worth looking around before you ask.

Please keep this thread tidy.

Ask questions on the manual thread, at least there your questions will be most likely put into the manual with an answer. Than they would assist others.

Also, HockeyKid I noticed the flashlight seems to light up certain segments in an odd way. With the main problem being that in some pitch black areas the flashlight won't illuminate a thing, when in others it is superb.

Anyways keep up the work.

I will do my best to make sure this happens

I think a section on frequent problems with answers would be a good idea. I'll start a list of major issues and try to include them in a later edition of the manual.

Bloom instantly turns on. Refer to the manual for a script on turning it on. Also make sure you have lightmapping and shader affects on to notice it. You should also see bloom and a bunch of numbers in your lower left part of screen.

Place your bloom script in main of a trigger zone and place the trigger in your map(anywhere)and you have bloom.

to change the bloom scale enter in the script and change this:

how do you get the 3rd person to work? this is the only thing that i cant get to work everything is fine accept for this one i assign the 3rd person script to the character's main and when i test the game there is no walking animation,the gun appear behind the character and it cant even shoot how can i fix it someone help
