yes mate i have made normal & spec maps for all models

heres a small prop model i made today again not a weapon but it sort of fits here

I wasn't sure, because your USP doesn't seem to be affected by light very much. Unless its just me, I would suggest upping the specular map.

there just test screens useing just the D2 texture right now mate. i will get full shaders working on the final models,but i have a lot of work to do yet,like learning to animate to a good enough standard

small update on the scar ,im working on the unwrap 4 hours in & heres where im at ( i wounder how long this takes the pros like ERRANT AI ?)it still looks a mess but i still have loads to do.

Now you know why there are tons of gun models on the net and hardly any UV'd ones

I usually spend 4-8 hrs unwrapping a gun depending on the complexity of the geometry. It usually takes me the day's sit-down session to do it but a well UV'd model saves a few hrs when it comes to the texturing phase.

If you're planning to use shaders and a single 2048x2048 map; for a rifle type weapon you can get away with a 2048x1024 partition for the gun which leaves you with a 1024x1024 partition of the hands and another 1024 for accessories.

thanks mate i want to try to get the quality high enough to be able to approach tgc about an offical model pack.

lol yeh i think its the hardest part of game modeling,but worth it in the end.

well i have finished the mapping & started the texture,very early days but heres a render of the work so far.

The stock needs to flow into the gun a bit better
Most of the grey metal textures on it look more like stone than metal. Needs to be slightly brighter in my opinion.
(edit) the font for 123456 could be a bit more stencil like. (/edit)
Very good mesh, and UV map. I'm jealous.

Hi HH- the butt looks too much like a cloud render IMO. Don't be afraid to give the metal upper reciever a color shift to break up the look. It's a little extreme in my example (attached)but looks good ingame. Keep at it; you'll get there.

well here is the basic texture done.im not all that happy with it but i want to move on for now so i will go back to it again later & see if i can rework some parts.

Very, very nice. I can't seem to find anything wrong with it, but when I look at it something just doesn't seem right. I'll post if I can figure it out. I also LOLed when I saw those targets.

gozzy, I have told you many times, no one will do WWII guns because there is a plentiful amount already, FPSC comes stock with some and there model packs that just came out which are really nice. So please, stop spamming the requests of the same thing, you'll only get the same answer

i have a few freelance jobs on the go right now,one is props for an animated short film,the other is simple game assets.

for myself i have been trying to improve my character modeling & texturing skills ( i make a crap student so its hard work )but its a slow process

the best help i can give you is to let you try it yourself the more you do it the better you get at it,there is no easy way to learn texturing (i am far from being an expert)

there are a few very basic tutorials on metal texturing on my website to get you started,but you will need to find the way you like to do it & work from there.

if you need to know anything specific just ask & if i know the answer i will be glad to help
