@Nbt, yeah, can't really fix that. The mesh is one of Wizard of id's stock upgrade meshes, and the texture is a retex I made. The lines are crooked on the UVMap Oh well. I'll probably just throw a greyscale rust texture on and see how that turns out. Thanks for reminding me.

@Hamburger, thanks

Hey, I was wondering if you would be interested into donating your game to me (I would then sell it and all profits would go to charity).

Thanks,

I'd have to know more about the company I'd be donating it to and how it would work. I can't just donate my game to a supposedly unknown organisation and have them take over profits and all that.

One word: Brilliant.

Nevertheless, I'm sorry, tired of playing demos.

I'm waiting for the full version to be released, but I'm looking forward to get my hands on that.

And tell me why he would donate his very fine looking game to you when he can sell it perfectly well and give the funds to charity? I mean, he, like many other designers are clearly putting their heart and soul into their productions and deserve money for their work. Personally, I think this game would kill my computer as the environments look extremely high poly. But I'm sure many others will be interested in a purchase. I will try to use a friend's to play this as it looks very exciting!

Good luck!

Actually it's surprisingly not. I've gone through the very tedious process of reducing poly-counts in most of the models I use. The highest poly model is only around 600 or 700 polys believe it or not. The only thing I would imagine would 'kill' your computer is the loading times (not so bad, just the lightmapping) and the particle effects. Thanks for the comment 2 Rogues

P.S. This will be free

Awesome again! I already loved the athmosphere in the first demo.

The whole maps seem filled and detailed and it doesn't look like an FPSC Game anymore. I personally think that every game where you can cleary see "Hey! This is FPSCreator" are rubish. But this one does really look professionally done and even though it kinda looks like Symbiotic unique.

Another great game that shows those Source - Hammer Editor Ignorants what whe are capable of.

Keep it up!

Well this is one heckuva' bump. Ok, kind of. But still, I've come to announce something.

Originally, I'd planned it to be a two level game, but then I started the third level and couldn't resist anymore.

New shots, still very WIP. Working on some more models:

I know, I know - it's only one room showed at different angles. I know, it's a disappointment. But honestly, it turned out great, and I have excellent things planned for level 3.

C&C welcome,

PWP

Also been working on new rigs (I know they're not in the right game - take a guess):

PWP this looks amazing!!

Like the rigs as well, but why's the index finger going through the g36c body?

Is that door glowing in the first screen?

Didn't even see that finger - thanks for pointing it out.

As for the door, yes it is, and for a reason

@DarkJames, yes, they're for the Exposure remake, but I decided to use them in here as well.

@DarkFrost, I could try to teach ya, maybe MSN?

Sorry PWP, only just watched it after reading that last post

Anyway, I love how detailed your levels are, they're not just boxes with entities thrown in, they're well laid out; you've obviously put a lot of thought into where each entity should go. I like your lighting as well, very atmospheric.

All in all, definately food for thought for my own game.

Cool video, dude! A little dark at the part where you can see the other room from the holes in the wall... you know what part I mean right? Maby if you made the light on the other side of the wall so, that the wall wich has holes in it, would cast cool shadows in the room! Just a suggestion.

Reflective shaders...? Like cubemaps almost or environment reflection? Those aren't even in FPSC though, right?

Hey great work, your screenshots look great! One crit though, most of the screenshots seem to suffer from darkititis (too dark). Granted yours is way better than most dark FPSC games, but still.

Here are some suggestions about the lighting (I normally don't do this but your game shows a lot of promise)

It's fine to have dark environments but the places where it is lit should always be clearly visible. After a short while, darkness gets really boring and annoying, no longer scary. Having bright places helps make the dark places seem darker. Lighting-wise the screenshot I like the most is actually the one with the lightbulbs on page 3.

A great example is Dead Space. Really dark game but there are plenty of places where things are clearly visible (some rooms are even really bright which works amazingly well in that game). Maybe you could do the same thing, have some rooms that are really bright, places where the outpost isn't relying on backup power or whatever. Or else in the places where you do have lights, make them really bright. Remember, low-contrast = monotony = bad, especially in an all metal environment where you have limited colors as it is.
Besides, there's no point in having amazing environments if you can't see them clearly.

I attached a screenshot of a WiP of mine. It's not in FPSC (I'm using the free version of Unity, can't live without the real-time previews) but the same ideas still apply. Color theory is extremely important, note the colors I use, contrast etc. (orange lights vs blue lights, red pipes vs green creature, bright lights vs dark shadows, contrast is the key to everything).

You've got the environment down pretty good, the only thing you need now is equally good lighting and you will have one of the better looking FPSC games around. Hope this helps!

Hey, thanks for the advice - you made a whole bunch of points that are definitely going to help me real well. I'll be sure to look into contrast - colour seemed to be my good spot, but now I'll work on shadows versus brightness

And nice Unity work!! At first I thought it was a screen from a professional game that I've probably never heard of
