Ok i finished my Spleef Arena for our server, might be a bit small but not many people are usually on, 4-5 at most.

I also took the pics and put them in the video.

(if the quality is still bad then youtube is post processing it still)

That's not minecraft, that's a 3d render of minecraft someone did in blender. If you want some texture packs, I'd recommend the Quadary or Painterly texture packs, those are my favorites.

I like mine.

Check it out, it's pretty simplistic, but it suits my tastes pretty well if I do say so myself.

Thanks, but I cannot get it to work correctly in the world. It still resembles the old lava. I'm guessing it has something to do with it being animated with the old texture, and I just haven't changed that yet, but I guess I'll find out what's up when I get there.

Oh, and I've already built 3 spleef arenas. Except two of them are flooded.

For texture packs, I like brown & bloom.
Used for this vid:

(don't mistake the smoothness for the texture pack, there's post-rendering too)

well,

I was happily water proofing the second smaller glass dome thing. Done it all, no water inside all good. Was deleting a small rock ot crop that was close to the glass side. Wait for it.

It was lava. Whos' ever the smaller dome with the trees, is well pretty buggered. Thank god for all the surronding water. but heres a kciker. I water proofed that well the lava cant be flooded. So im now floating in a lava bath aimlessly searching for sponge.

I hate lava so fricking much...

Leaving a message for others (lol):

Sadly the server I was building it on is temporarily (hopefully not permanently) down (server: Yet another freebuild 2 [YAFB2]) so I can't continue with it

Guys guys, who here has alpha? I just got it thanks to a very nice donor. I'm starting the TGC alpha server on Monday night (CST). I'll keep you all posted. Anyway, go get it if you don't have it yet!!

The classic server will remain up.

Not very fun to think that other people can fly around and do whatever when real builders make scaffolding and use skill

On a related topic did a student just buy MC alpha for someone who has a job?

Im not trying to be the predicter of the future, but i think minecrafts popularity will die with this coming fall being as it is game time

Black Ops will have a much bigger userbase and i think it will be fun

Although thats not to say i wont buy minecraft to play on my notebook on trips or something.

Nah, the Black Ops fanbase and the newly instated Minecraft fanbase are two different breeds of gamer...

By the way, does the classic server require a login to play? How do I get onto the TGC server on it?

Well Minecraft has already been around for over a year, and it still got popular even with new releases from the big-name studios. So I don't think it will die that quick.

I think popularity will wane a bit eventually, just like every game, but as long as Notch is still working on it, I don't think it will ever die.

Let's be honest, it survived the launch of Reach. And there was never a more hyped up, over budgeted and extensive advertising campaign than the one Microsoft pumped into Reach...

It's a simple game, lightweight enough in graphics that I can be run while, say, waiting for a map to compile. I use it when I'm running Lightmass on UDK because it has very little impact on UDK when it's running...

I agree it wont die in popularity, but black ops will be making more sales then reach. I think it will wobble down to about the user base of maybe 1/3 of what it is now.

I didn't buy it on account of the fact my XBox died trying to close it's disc tray...

I also never said Reach wasn't a great game and didn't live up to it's hype, but you gotta admit, there was a month period where every gaming site, magazine, and web comic was "OMFG HALO REACH IS RELEASED, DROP EVERYTHING, GET FIRED, GET THEY CAME TO HEAR ME BEG!!!""

I haven't had a chance to properly play it, I got up to the end of The Long Night of Solace...

IMO the space fight is too short lived and Bungie missed a trick by not adding it into matchmaking...
