Nice. Will the stuff be free? I mean, I have to ask because... umm... you're an awesome guy, so you'd probably get permission from the Star Trek people to sell it, LOL.

Transpoerter room is done.

Everything will be "Free" in this pack, and anyone who wants to join in, is more than welcome.

Again, Please note that these do not have the normals applied yet. Will do that later on. All textures are based on reference form the Star Trek TNG Technical Manuals, and Virtual 3D Quicktime files. They are as accurate as possible. Thanks.

Next up is Engineering!

Here's something silly and crap I did back in the 1990's using an Amiga 500 computer and Octamed Sound Studio. The recording is a not much cop as I had to rerecord it of an old tape I had.

Enjoy.

LOL!!

Ok my friends, I need some ideas for how to proceed with the Holodeck. I was thinking of building the patterned room as a "dummy" that would sit in front of the control "Arch", and somehow use the teleport feature to simulate the activation of the Holograghic effect.

This way you could build an unlimited number of environments, and scenarios that could be acsessed from some sort of menu that can be chosen from the Arch control panel.

The menu could contain, say 3 or 4 choices that the player could use to teleport to a different map that would contain the desired environment. Each of these environments could include the "arch" at some location in the level that would transport the player back to the original ship map that contains the Holodeck starting point.

These could be used as training levels, or "free for all" shoot em' up scenarios. Or even load the TOS starship to browse through, as a holodeck simulation.

If anyone has any other ideas, let me know, so I can put it all together, and have a working Holodeck on board for you guys.

I can imagine the little flip phone thingy that they carried to be made as a weapon, like starmind did with his spacesuit glove.
You could press fire for a communicator, or use it as a "detector" that would tell you what an object is.
That could be done using a flag variable so we know that weapon is equipped, and then the limb detection for the objects.
Each object would have to be scripted for that feature, but that would be easy enough with a template script.

Press "R" for the <r>eturn teleport to the ship. (reload sound saying "Beam me up Scotty")
The pressing of the 'R' key could also be scripted to make the teleport happen, and with a kewl hud/video visual for the player's transit.

Just a thought.

Biran: Don't be ridiculus buddy, Old Cosmic does'nt get mad at anyone, especially my good friends. Just been crazy busy with this project, The Starship Troopers pack, and getting stuff ready for the next community pack. I've been running in overdrive the last 2 weeks.

At last count, I've built, and base textured nearly "40 new models". I'll drop you an e-mail later on tonight brother.

I love the skyboxes Brian, especially the DS9 one.

Conjured: Ah yes! the TOS Communicator...Nice!! I also really like the idea of the Detector. That would be great to use with the Tricorder.

And on a side note, If I so much as see one more freaking snowflake, I'm moving to Florida!

Lol, tell me about it... I live in MN

Great (I stress the great!) job on these Cosmic!!! Man you have a lot of time and patience to sit with one model pack to the end... I usually get bored after the first couple of weeks (which is why I have an ever reminding team lol) Cant wait to see more... let me know if you need any help (like thats ever gonna happen ).

BTW, whens the next all community pack... I got tons of ideas for a MW themed pack

Cheers,
Anayar

not to get off topic but anayar got me thinking when he asked when the next community pack is...what about doing a generic "pot-luck" style pack where everyone can just contribute anything they want and like people that are good at one thing say modeling for example can post their models up and then people that are good at texturing can go and texture them or stuff like that.

I worked on this a bit more and got it in as a basic weapon (this is similar style of the first phasers (second resembled a pistol)).
Now I need to do the animations and then write the script, then improve the texture a bit.
This will be a phaser/communicator as will can shoot and call in your teleport back to the ship.
Right now, it just says "Energize" with a sound effect (recording of Kirk) when you hit 'R', but the script will have it teleporting back to the teleporter room.

I know there are a lot of people here in the forums that could do better with this thing, so don't let me stop anyone from making a better one.
I was just joining in the fun.

Sure, I can do the scripts for your animated version.
I'll still animate mine because I really enjoy animating, and because I have already started on these.
It will be interesting to see the variations, and mine still needs a hand.

How is this for your com? Texture is done and the hands are almost done. Then for the animations. Any suggestions for the animations?
Enjoy!

EDIT:The dial will be animated and the antenna is see through. The transparency caused some issues in blender, but it should look great in game.

I think they don't have to be complex, since it is a simple weapon anyway.

Here is a look at what I have so far... (see attached video)

Now for the scripting...

Yeah, I need a lot of work on my texture.
Here is an alternate open/close animation... (see attached)

These are a lot better than the first one I did.

Okay, the script wasn't that much trouble.
Now the reload works for the teleport back to the ship. (just a room for my example because I don't have the teleporter room yet)
As you can see from this video (see attached), you can switch to other weapons and the reload just reloads, but switch back to our phaser/communicator, and the reload teleports you.

Let me know when you are ready for that script starmind

Too bad I never watched Star Trek (never was into that kind off stuff..). I could have helped out here. If anyone has a model or something which requires texturing dont hesitate to hit me up (as I know there are some people who need help in just that area )

Cheers,

Conjured I have a teleport animated hud for you to go with it. It's 150 frames with 4 frames that white out the screen, so you can move the player. I will send it to Cp shortly or you can email me and I will send it to you first.(You can trust me with your email)

This is based more the new star trek movie than series. The black part of the video is transparent. Enjoy!

They are fast with high quality stuff.
I am only fast with low quality stuff.
Then it takes me forever and a day to ever get my stuff to look close to their level of workmanship. (I'm still working on it)
That is the difference between real artists like them, and a wanna-be like me.

That 'your' in your sig should be a you're.
I usally am the last person to correct grammar or spelling or a typo, but in this case I had to say something. (wouldn't want any Yankees poking fun at that)

Here is another short video of my communicator/phaser combo in action... (see attached)

Thanks to starmind, I added some HUDs he made for the teleport effect.
He made 150 of them but I was too lazy to script them all and only used 15. (I might add more later when I have more time)

I went ahead and changed that sound file for the teleport too, so this effect is starting to take shape now.
I have the script where it only lets you teleport if you are standing still.
If you are running the sound file plays but you do not get teleported because Scotty cannot get a fix on your position.

Not bad, but I think I can make that teleport hud look beter than that. It just doesn't look trek enough. Scripts are looking great, but I gave you a test run and I should have done it better. I will give it another go tonight.

I just wanted to show these off before I hit the hay. It is the new hands for this pack. I thought I would make them with just the basic colors of the TOS and allow the creator to add rank to the wristband. Right now I have them all as an ensign. I will add a template for everyone to make new sleeves. Enjoy!

You did fine. (my fault for not using them all)
I can modify the script a bit for different effects.
Here is a clip of the same huds, but I changed the hudunshow order so they each stay a little longer.
It totally changes it by building them up on top instead of replacing.

Check it out, because I think this one looks a lot better.

Quote: "I just wanted to show these off before I hit the hay. It is the new hands for this pack. "

Those hands look great.
I hope we can use those for other non-trek weapons.

It's so cool when people get together to put out a product around here. There is a lot of talent and great minds here. I hope that CP will include an FPM of the ship so people like me won't butcher it by putting it together wrong.

I have a special purpose for this pack and I can't wait to get started. Thanks to all involved for your work. I can't think of a thing I could add to this one but if I can help behind the scenes, let me know.

Don't worry mine didn't either. It seems that model pack six hands do not work in blender. Tha whole mesh just seems to get cut to pieces, so I have to make a new one. I will still be using the same textures, just a complete model by me instead of part of one.
