I grabbed a free hand off of Turbosquid and then modified it a bit.
I used a hand texture from one of Cosmic's previous packs (Pirate I think), and I modified it a bit too.

I might attempt my own hand from scratch and see what happens, but that will have to wait until I have more time.

Are there any specific shuttlecrafts/shuttle pods from the tng era that people want or should I just model them all?

Just model them all. (just kidding)
Here is a link to the Ship Schematics, but I am not sure which ones are TNG.

The name of this shuttle from the Feregni Alliance is Unknown.

This shuttle from the Vulcan Navy is also an Unknown vessel.
This design looks easy enough for me to try.

Edit
Here is another attempt at adding a hand on the communicator... (see attached video)
It's getting a little better, but still needs some work.

Cool, I'm glad someone knows.
I was going by what was posted on that website, because I did not know.
Maybe you should inform him, so he can update the database's information.

I have a lot of the original series on VHS, but I never watched The Next Generation that much.

Maybe someday someone can do a Star Wars themed pack.
Then we could have Capt. Kirk meet Darth Vader.

Not to get off subject, but I was actually doing that over the winter. I was animating a totally new rig for fpsc characters to include lightsaber actions. Not that easy for me. I have lightsabers and blasters all that stuff. When I am finished with stuff here I will send it to Cp to help with a new pack.

Hi guys, here's an update on the "Engineering" section. All parts are segmented, and scaled for in game use. All the premier rooms will be prefabs, so all you need is to add your hallways to connect them. This is around 90% finnished, and I'll be moving on to "Sickbay".

With a little help from Starmind we've got the warpcore animated as it's seen in the show.

More to come soon. hope you like!

Here's some detail shots. All displays are directly from stills, and are as you would see them as if you were actually on the set itself.

I'm using stills from the DVD's and screenshots from The "Simon and Sheuster, Star Trek the Next Generation Interactive Technical manual", as well as various blueprint sets.

As Stated before, I'm going all out for accuracy. The only difference will be in the slight corners I need to cut, to keep the poly count relativly low.

Overall though, when this is all put together, it will be like walking through the actual sets used for the show. The same will be the case with the Original series version of the ship, right down to the "Jeffries Tubes". There will even be a walk in version of the Columbus Shuttle craft ( Same model as the Galileo 7).

Thanks Guys! Hey Conjured, Have you got a little time on your hands? I want to know if there is a way to make a "Turbo Menu"?

In all the Trek movies, the primary way to navigate the ship is by the turbo lift. These lifts move up, and down, as well as side to side, transporting the passengers to nearby stations at the destination.

Is there a way we could use a Turbolift model with a console that the player could use to bring up a full screen menu, where the destination could be selected. The transport effect could be used to move the player to the inside a different turbo lift near the destination, or maybe load a new map that contains the area selected. No transport visuals would be needed, just a moving lift sound could be played to simulate the lift transport. Just a thought.

If you have some time, could you see if you could work up something that can be used for both ships, by maybe just changing the graphics of the menu?

I can can send you a video that shows what I have in mind, if you need it.

Let me know my friend, Thanks.

I'll have a new walkthrough video of engineering in a day or so. I've got everything in FPSC, and it looks pretty good. I got the small personel lift working in the warp chamber last night, that takes you to the top of the core sevice area. where consoles will be located that can be used (when activated)to script various actions to enhance your storylines.

Hey Mike, good to hear from you my friend. Your right, I think Starmind did a replicator a while back, but I'm not sure. But hey, anything you would like to make for the project will be most welcome. I always like to have at least one new and unique item, or effect that has never been done before.

I'll drop you a line soon, say hi to Cathy for us!

Hi All, Here's the walkthrough video of TNG Engineering, Hope you like it. Please ignore the lack of the lower deck, as I dont have all the room segments done yet. I've moved on to TNG Sickbay, Next will be the hanger deck, then lastly Ten Forward.

As soon as those are ready, It's on to the rest of the TOS rooms and halls. Opinions welcome.

Thanks!

Please don't take the following the wrong way WoI.

Must say that looks amazing! It really does look like your walking through the actual Enterprise, which is where you must be careful, you don't want it to end up just being a tour of the ship (incredible as it is), you need to have places to run & crawl through, things to jump on and over. Ask yourself "could you actually play an FPS game in this or will I just be walking back and forth between rooms?"

This really looks amazing.
You did a fantastic job!
This is going to be sooooo much fun!

Here is the easy link...

When are you going to send me the other video???

Quote: "Ask yourself "could you actually play an FPS game in this or will I just be walking back and forth between rooms?""

I can definitely play a game in there, especially when I open up all the rooms to those doors we can see.
All the work he is putting into making an emulation of the actual ship is great! (this is what the real fans will want)
I plan to design my own ship from the stuff included, rather than make a copy of the actual ship.
So, the possibilities will be endless.

Not sure how familiar you are with the Star Trek Series NickyDude, but in the series all the confrontations that were ship board were pretty much in very specific areas being: Jefferies tubes, 10 forward, the bridge, sick bay, cargo bay, shuttle craft bays, transporter rooms, holo deck, engineering, battle bridge and the corridors. oh and every once in a great while crew quarters.

aded in planet side and other side side missions along with being able to setup your own custom ships and there is really a almost endless variety you could come up with.

hummmm....borg, borg, borg, (anyone get the hint yet ), cardassians (rare occasions shoot first whine and wimper later), tribbles, the krenium imperium that kept attacking voyager in the "Year from hell" episodes, species 8472. Okay so not so many because the tng series was more of a Utopian idealism which was so popular in the 90's.

But then again Q could always show up and bring a few guests ( new super badies) that we shoot first, ask questions never types.

For ST NextGen we definitely need a Borg character as enemy.

Personally watching that movie, I immediately think about a kind of puzzle/defense game: You have to kill borgs transporting (=spawning out of thin air) into the ship because the shields are down, while also trying to repair stuff to get the shields back up.

Although I am generally not into "fan-games" I start to take a liking to this one

Nickydude: I see what your saying my friend, It was my intention that the starships are to be a starting point to build on. As you know, most of the real action that a starfleet officer encounters, takes place off-ship (or on the Holodeck).

That's not to say that you could not build an "on-ship" scenario. For example: a search for the missing crew, or a mission to reach engineering to prevent a warp core breach, etc. Or as stated above, a ship-wide invasion.

With creative use of the Holodeck you can simulate everything from combat training, to playing out your fantasy as a private detective named "Dix".

And dont forget about the "Time Travel" staple that is common in many Trek episodes. Another example might be: Going back in time during WWII to prevent The Germans from developing the first Atomic bomb.

The ships are just the steping stone for you to create an endless number of scenarios. But in order to establish the Trek feel, the ships need to look as convincing as possible and give the player a realistic home environment to relate to.

This Mega pack is designed to do just that. It will be up to the developer to build unique and interesting storylines. But it allows for the developement of multiple storylines, and not be locked down to a single scenario development stratagy. You can make as many different "episodes" as you like.

Conjured: I'll send it today my friend.

It is going to work great with my RPG Mod. I like dialog in my games. I like role playing. But then again most everybody that uses FPSC wants shooter games and that is cool too. I like the option. A lot of CP's scifi community pack is being used in my current game.

But, of course, why not conjure up a 'run n gun' fight on the enterprise. Whoo Hoo. We don't have to completely be 100% loyal to the fans of Star Trek.

BTW, has there been any Star Trek games out there and has anybody played them if there are?

I played a few of the star trek games and the ones that I played all sucked. Granted there haven't been any new ones for a while, but yeah they aren't very good. The biggest problem is that in all of the series diplomatic negotiations were more likely than any real fighting so the phasers (even the assault rifle ones) had a really slow firing rate which probably had alot to do with the games sucking. There really needs to be some type of rapid fire pulse phaser to really make any of the games good if you're trying to do a fps.

Quote: "But, of course, why not conjure up a 'run n gun' fight on the enterprise."

I can imagine it sorta of like Cosmic said, with most of the fighting done when you are off ship exploring new worlds, new civilizations, and boldy going where...
Well, you get the picture.
I can also imagine a few surprises when you return to the ship, should there be any unauthorized life forms on board for whatever reason.
I think a mixture of the two scenerios might keep the gameplay exciting and full of surprises.
This is going to be so much fun that it will probably be a big distraction on getting any commercial work done.
But oh well, it will be lots of fun.
It might also be interesting to go back to the orginial series (or TNG) and build a level for each episode. (sound clips from the shows would really set it off)
That way the fans will already know what to do for the objectives and what they might expect to find.
It would still be entertaining though if we add in a few extra improvements to the plots just to keep them guessing anyway.
As mentioned before, the only limitation will be your imagination, and that is why Sci-Fi is a full proof genre.

Quote: "BTW, has there been any Star Trek games out there and has anybody played them if there are? "

I have not played any, but I am sure there must be something out there.
I guess we'll have to do a bit of research on that and find out what has already been done.

The TNG series ended in 1994. While I'm sure there are a couple of oldies TV stations that still play episodes, it's been gone - for the most part for - for better than 15 years. For my Grand kids it will be a brand new adventure and I will be be a God for creating such a cool game.

I can imagine that the ship is a means to receive and prepare for missions while getting from point a to b, while much of the game play is in strange new worlds. That doesn't mean that it can't have it's own drama, just like the series. Yes, the possibilities are endless.

I'd like to do a comic book with this theme using adventures on the ship, happenings back on earth, and conflict on strange, new, worlds all combined.

Brian.

That is so much better than mine in looks and the animation.
I might as well quit wasting my time trying to model.
I can't though, because now I am hooked on Sculptris.

Seriously, nice job starmind...it looks just like the real one!
I really like that animation of the flip it open the way you roll it back for the flip.

yeah starmind as usual awesome job. You really do make it look so easy. Guessing the hand is a WIP because of the thumb and the skin still needing a light diffuse on it?

I switched up to working on the starship troopers stuff again for a bit but tomorrow I'll be back to working on the shuttlecrafts. hopefully it won't take me too long but since a certain slave driver told me to do all of them except for the tos shuttle it might take me a little bit to get them all done. Speaking of which...Mr. Slavedriver Sir did you want me to do just the federation shuttles or did you want some of the other species too? lol

All means all, so get busy! *cracks whip*

I was only kidding when I said do them all.
Anything and everything is appreciated, even if its only one thing.
If we get lucky then maybe more people will join in the fun, but it's hard for me to contribute any models of Cosmic's, or Starmind's, quality.
So, I'll probably just stick to scripting on this one.

I'll be submitting my rough draft today, so my paper is almost out of the way.
In two weeks I should finally be free, so wish me luck.
My career as a student is coming to an end.
Now it's time to retire & work some magic with FPSC.

I am not that good. You should really read what people keep posting on my threads. You keep at it. I am one of those that won't say to much to harm your self esteem. Besides you can do something that a cannot seem to grasp and that's scripting.

I have finished the type-1 phaser. The same as the com, it has the three texture variations. I have sent them to both Cp and Conjured for scripts and what not. Instead of just showing you a video of them in-game I thought I would show what it looked like in blender.

GamerX if you are reading this I will send you two blend files for your tutorials on how this is done. Also to those wanting to do more animations on these weapons I will be including all the blend files when I am done.

For now here is an in-game screenie:

And the blender video:
