@Cyborg ART
Do you think that the due date could be put back a little into June, lets say June 15-20? I have a ton of school work and other thing during May an I think it would give more people a chance to enter. So could you please make it a later date?

Cheers.

I believe everyone would benefit from a later deadline. If we move it to 15th June, then I could announce the winner in the July newsletter.

Okay?

Here is my entry video (Youtube link)!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d9028kQh8yk

My 2 featurse are ones often underrated or under-appreciated, or often both (especially in the case with FPSC.)

My Unique Features are:
1)A Bad Company 2 Remake (Specifically, to show that a $50 engine can be used to make a half decent remake of a Triple A Title game, in this case Battlefield: Bad Company 2)

2)Large outdoor worlds with 250,000+ polys, and over 10-15 AI characters ALL while keeping the FPS above 30-40FPS.

About the world:
Before people go yelling at me that this isn't a unique feature, let me ask you - how many FPSC games out there have such large, vivid, and expansive levels with a dozen AI and run well? Next to none! That's where my game comes in. Inspired by Battlefield Bad Company 2, I set out to push FPSC's bare engine to the limits, with an extremely high poly count, detailed and luscious world. The player is able to control THREE allied players and go up against up to 15 enemy characters throughout these levels. All of this with a smooth 40-50FPS! NOW I CANT BELIEVE THATS FPSC!!!

Best of luck to all my competitors, and may we all show what FPSC is really and truly capable of!

@Susysyay: It is not a "Feature" and certainly not YOUR feature. And yes I have seen a lot of games that used magnificient tricks to get great outdoors scenes done with more polys than you promise us.

Anyway keep it up.

@Red Eye

Of course a beautiful world is a feature! Look at games like Fallout, Crysis, GTA, etc. Each of those games use the environment as a sell point and they function as part of gameplay. Therefore it is a feature!

Secondly, half of the ideas here aren't 100% pure original ideas. I see people making coop mods, scripts from games like Silent Hill, etc. None of these ideas are their own, but they are unique for FPSC games (and pretty dang awesome!) After all it is "I Cant Believe its FPSC," not "I Cant Believe thats Possible."

Ultimately, lets let the judges choose winners and losers. My entry is my entry. I encourage healthy competition as this contest can only benefit the FPSC community and show the true power behind the FPSC engine. May the best win, but everyone should try to take FPSC to new heights.

Best of luck
Susysyay

@Susysyay

Yes the world may be a feature BUT in your post above you said that your FEATURE was and I quote:
Quote: "Large outdoor worlds with 250,000+ polys, and over 10-15 AI characters ALL while keeping the FPS above 30-40FPS"

Running a game well isn't a feature exactly... its more of what is expected.

IF you want to have a feature I'd say that your feature was re-making Bad Company 2. Doesn't that sound like a better feature? Just edit you post above and just say that you re-made BC2. One person a couple pages before said that they were doing a scene from Portal 2 and that would be their feature, NOT how many FPS it ran at. You have a feature that your just not using .

Cheers.

@2Beastmode4u

Well, in my video I started off by saying that I wanted to prove 2 things.
A)That large outside levels in FPSC can be accomplished, with loads of AI and run at a decent FPS
B)That a decent remake of a Triple A Title can be accomplished with a $50 engine (in this case BC2.)

So I guess I can edit my original post to include both of those.
Thanks for the suggestion and I hope this will extinguish any other arguements between memebers.

Best of luck to all competitors

Sorry for the double post but, I recommend for all people who are going to record their features should use FPSCapture. It has absolutely NO LAG(FPS doesn't change), super high quality, and IS FREE!

Great to see an entry!

I believe that as long as you accomplish something unique it would be able to compete.

NOTE: BETTER VIDEO ON 3RD PAGE(PLEASE USE THAT ONE FOR JUDGING)

In this video I am using my own custom made Coop/3rd Person/Silent Hill Script. Now how many of these do you find a day? Almost forgot, in this video I didn't show the self-destruct and crouch feature, so keep that in mind.

Recorded with WeGame

Cheers.

Its great that you want to do this, but your levels are far from "detailed and luscious" or "vivid". Not to pull you down in any way, man! You did a great job on the mission remakes and its certainly a dang fine FPSC Game but it still requires work to be what you describe. I don't want to be too descriptive here, but the largest downer is the way you blend models from various packs unmodified in one level. It looks a bit thrown together, especially in the winter scenes.

I believe some people are holding their entries until the deadline is closer. I do hope more people enters, it doesnt have to be something fancy. Challenge yourself to come up with something new for your own game.

I have an idea for FPSC that would be crazy cool, but the video won't be nearly as long as theirs.
It would take a bit of time to pull it off, and that is what I don't have, but maybe I can spare a day or two on this.
Maybe I better start right now.

@Susysyay
It was at about 3 and a half minutes that I realized the video was over 9 minutes long, so I decided that I could believe it was FPSC and bailed on the other 6 minutes.
Very nice use of the ramps though and the outdoor map was great.

@2Beastmode4u
That reminds me of my puppet script with a few plrmoveto's thrown in.
Short & Sweet effect.
Well done.

Just curious, but is there a minimal amount of entries required for winners and prizes to be awarded? I mean, we have 2 entries already (myself included.) If no one else manages to make the deadline (which I doubt) will the awards be presented, or will it be acquitted due a total of 2-3 entries?

i'm asking cuz it's a very simple mechanism ya know ?
i'm also trying to develop a way to decrease the maximum player's weapons to any value you want, and if nobody thought about this before, you're all going to hate yourselves, cuz it's too simple, way too easy, you guys will all say, Ohh i can't belive aint thought about this before !

i've based miself in the crysis 2's ammo refiller."

well if you think, we all can have lots of fun with a crysis 2 re-build in to the fpsc

maybe, maybe...

if i just make one or two levels, will still be worth as feature ?

Now now, I wouldn't say that you gave me the idea... well not intentionally at least.

@Conjured Entertainment
Thank you! It makes me feel great to here someone like you say that about my work . Oh, your puppet script wasn't working for him so I just re-made my own(just with more features). I didn't mean to steal anything if it came off that way.

@Susysyay
You can have more than one. I asked a couple pages back, and will be putting part 2 of my entry in action soon.

@gendestroier
Yes, it will count( a couple pages back someone said that they were re-making a scene from portal 2 and I think Cyborg Art was ok with it).

@EVERYONE
Come on and enter your ideas. Anything works. If someone put something in about how to have a box open in game in FPSC I would just faint with joy and excitement! This is where new things for FPSC are born! This is where heroes are made.

I was just saying what it reminded me of, not that it was a rippoff or anything like that.
Any attempt at a 3rd person perspective would remind me of the puppet script.
I was commenting on how I would try to do an effect like yours.

Interactive point and click system.

Quote: "It doesnt matter when the feature/idea was created."

In that case I'll throw up a couple of things that new users may have missed in the past.

Entering and using an enclosed elevator.
May not seem like much but anyone trying to enter a dynamic entity will understand.

Seamless environments and perfect enemy collision on terrain.

Dynamic shadows using animated shader.

There is a better demo example of dynamic shadows which can be downloaded here.

I have no wish to win anything here, but would be happy to donate all of my skybox packs collection to the prize list for first place winner. I just would like to add to this competition.

So I´m unbanned now and I´d love to join the contest with my Silent Hill script system.
I know 2beastmode4u made something similar but I made it first so I think I have the right to join too.
It will be a short Sci-Fi level so nothin´SH like.
And after the contest I will release the demo and a few days later the scriptsystem.
Sounds good?

The Silent Hill Script System!!!

This allows you to make your own SH styled game in FPSC.
SO the bad thing is I didn´t have time to make something really gorgeous but I made this little Demonstration with a Sci-Fi level:

Please leave a comment also on YT would be very nice!!!

simple effect that was fast to do and load.

one that took a bit longer, but if you do it right, you get better results

So, should I bother entering?
