Hey all,

It's been years since I've posted or even visited this forum. I frequently visited around 2012-2015. Is there any classic users still on? Is this forum still alive like it used to be?

I think Phaelax may have been referring to me ... I was comparing my actual age to his of course .

Phaelax is right about the forum though - he has indeed haunted this wonderful place for far too long. I have no idea why.

I have no idea why either. I think maybe because this forum has stayed the most consistent over the years. Every other forum I've used in the past has either vanished or just completely faded away. And yes Green, you're an old fart!

Did you not hear? It was Green Gandalf's idea to use irrigation as a method of transporting water and helped revolutionise Mesopotamian society. The man is a genius.

Well, I'm not dead yet. So there's that.

I had to make a new account, but I assure you I'm still the same old Lord Herakles the Great, or whatever I called my original account. Can't remember exactly. I promise I'm not someone taking over his name as part of a clever scheme to rule the world.

I haven't posted here in forever. I've had other things going on in life. Some good stuff, some bad stuff. You know, life. I remember talking a lot about music back when I posted here semi-regularly. Anybody still here from that time?

I just kicked it off again with AppGameKit tier 2 and I see this thread with people I remember reading posts from ages back (looking at you Seppuku Arts and Green Gandalf). In fact, wasn't there a PC giveaway for Green Gandalf? (I had to google after I typed it, https://forum.thegamecreators.com/thread/144577 yes you were). I remember seeing that looking at your contributions and being in admiration. I owe a lot to my drive to make games from TGC forum and what I learned here, even though all I provided were half efforts and questions.

Likewise, Dark Basic was my first taste of programming and I fell in love and folks here helped me further along that path and put up with the naive teenager me. And nowadays after trying to get a job writing didn't work out, programming was an interest I was able to fall back on and I am now a real programmery type person. Which actually works out better, for a start, there's more money in it and a lot more job openings for it.

My game making, model making, and everything development wise stemmed from FPS Creator. This forum brought me so much interest and new ideas.

When are all us old timers going to join together and make a great game!?

Thought I'd pop in and say hello as it's been a while.

I still can't resist browsing this forum every day or so even though I've not used DBP for years. I still have plans to finish my entry for the 2005 puzzle competition that I started but never finished!

Can't believe my account still works although it did not recognise my password so had to reset that.

I too am an old'ish fart who only has one more year until the big 50 comes around.

I'm still around and check in from time to time. I decided not to make the transition to AppGameKit and still make games with DB Pro.

It's been so long since I've posted here with any regularity, but I still check in and see what's been posted every month or so! For somewhere around 6 or 7 years, the first tab in Chrome was always the Geek Culture board. I can't believe it's been 8 years since I joined

Looong ago, I was on here a lot. I was really young, as you can probably see from my posts from then (I was around 14 years old around my first post). Had a lot of fun, a really good time creating "games" and just messing around with DBPro. Nowadays, I have a great job in web development, and I have all of you to thank for it. So, thank you all!

I normally check here every 6 months or so. Been a long time since I fired up DBPro. Don't think it's even on this PC... Long ago I used to spend a worrying amount of my free time either programming in DBPro, or on these boards

These days, thanks to a heavy amount of work, I rarely even get to develop any games (Unity in C# being my main tool). I'm a programmer for a living (23 years this year doing this job... grief....) so at least that scratches the itch a bit...

Now someone please get me the *codes* for a red tank, with yellow tracks, and a blue missile. Too soon?....

Cheers

Gimme da codez! (Anon, TGC Forums, c. 2004).

Edit: Sorry! My timing is a bit off .

Here's a link to a copy of the original thread:

For some reason Dazzaq's post reminded me of it . It's always a good read for those who remember the good old days

Screen Device Recovery - Stop your apps from crashing when minimized/tabbed/screen locked.
