Hi all,

Not sure if you guys remember me...been gone for a long while. was studying/writing exams that i didnt have time to come by. I started a rpg game back in april-ish, but never got a chance to update since school work got in the way...sorry...now that exams are over and got accepted to university, going to continue this now...

Anyhoo, finally doing the project again. re-did most of the stuff since i have more time now. The RPG game is call "Vatica". It is set in the future, with mechs and stuff.....

Here is a couple screenshot of one of the mechs that belongs to one of the character in the game....




Re-doing some part of the editor for speed issues...will have more update later on. Hope you guys like it.

Thanks for the comments, the editor is currently undergoing some major changes due to speed. Adding new functions in it because i now understand memblocks..hahaha

Here is a WIP shot of the level in the editor.

haha, glad you liked it. Took a lot of time to make that haha. There is 2000 polycounts in that mech, including the sword. But thinking of cutting down a bit. But then again, it doesnt seem that high for an rpg game. Oh well, will see if I will cut down a bit later on or not haha.

@Oneka production
The UVs is just normal UVs with texture command, and adjust the UVs from stretch texture command. Nothing special haha. Thinking of putting shaders on it though later on.

YES I WILL! haha...no, I only make this games for fun, not for profit. I will never charge this game for money. IT is just a hobby of mine.

The editor is just an editor that make mine life easier haha....dont know what to say about it...what do you want to know about it?

This is just a style i been struggling with awhile ago. I decided to go for the realistic-ish style. Like this model i am working on right now.



However this takes a lot more time though....what do you guys think? stick with chubby style or realistic-ish? haha

The puddgy dude looks more stylish and cute... er.. i mean cool. Altho realistic will be more impressive, it will take longer and isnt realy needed when the puddgy guy is their giving you the puppy eyes.

haha, ya..the pudgy guy was model so that he looks like a RPG maker character....some might recognize the design too
Oh well, i am going back to the realistic design, it just look so much cooler...hahah

and ya, made the models myself. Took me a long while...but i hope its worth it...

Hi

Here is a little update, the character is fully rigged, worked out movement system and the message box function. Going to make the message box looks nicer in the future, but right now i am just too lazy to do that so just used back the same GUI as the editor...haha

Does it really? didnt notice....i just made that in Fireworks when i was fooling around. It just turns out pretty nice after awhile so i just use that as the logo. haha
And their site is back up? NIiiiiiice...*going off to see updates*... haha

I would stick with the more realistic guy for your game. It goes with the style of the game. the chubby char is cool and all..it just dont fit the style with the mech :o)

cant wait to see a demo.

ya, the lower body is a bit big. Its not part of the style...i just never realize it until you told me..
Well, Here is the character update of it. the lower body is smaller now, and he now have a sword. Not texture yet though.


Finally made the first beta level to test out the movement and collisons. Here is a beta shot of the first level.



going to continue on the maps and stuff...hopefully can get a demo out soon.

Agreed... Is that the Buster Sword? Naww its too rounded off, what is it about "big" weapons that makes characters so cool? [Inuyasha's Tetsusaiga, Cloud's Buster Sword, Sepheroth's uber long Katana, Sanosuke's Zanbatou]

Hi all!

The beta level design is done, the transport function works great. Just need to add in events function to make it a fully playable demo....yayy

Here is a few updated shots of the levels. Been messing around with lightmaps, it did wonders on the levels...haha

These two levels are linked with the transport function, which allows the character to go from one level to another with seemless transition. Just like the FF-series where you exit one area to another.
Going to add in events function next...hopefully it wont be hard....

Wow that is really begining to come on I'm loving the style of the models, and how well they seem to fit into the game! Really looking forward to a demo of somekind. Keep up the good work, better than anything I could do!

That wasnt only in Oricana of time, before that it was in A Link To The Past on SNES, But I don't know if it was on any of the NES zelda games

SWEET!!! You're making what will probably be my most favorite game. Cause it reminds me of kingdom hearts, which I beat 3 times and I'm on the 4th, (Just finished Agrabah). You should publish this game, make it commercial, make DBPro popular, and never, EVER let Lee forget what you did for him, then you'll be getting free TGC software for the rest of your life and you will be able to make even better games with me in the credits as the lead tester, so I can rake in some cash just for playing your awesome game.

Without hating, this world would be perfect.

HAHA, didnt see this last time I post. I will surely do that, didnt realize the fat podgy guy was so popular. He will be the game then! Will do a special version just for you that includes him attack you with thousand knives....hehehe

haha, I dont have a website yet, cus I think I should have complete the game (or most of it) before I make a site about it. And yep, as mind storm said, made mine own editor. But it is surely taking massive time to make one. All those triggers, events, portal placement could drive anyone insane...gaaaah

Speaking of beta testing, the first beta is almost done. Just need to fix some bugs and conversation still need to be implement. and also need to build a better beta level. So going to upload a beta soon, hope it can be soon...
