Im working on a 3D car game.
Progress is going really good.
I have been using DBP for about two months.

Im thinking about turing this into a racing game.
Where you race in the streets of a city, racing other computer players.
Maybe add time trials where you must get to a point in an amount of time.

Maybe adding newer (faster, better) cars when you complete things.

I have a lot of ideas, and im learning DBP fairly quick.

Its just hard finding building models and such.

So what do you guys think so far?

The only thing im trying to get right is the collsions with the buildings and such, and the car animations.

That's one pathetic, useless comment right there.

@xxdemzxx
Looking good for two months. Unfortunatly I'm only on 56k so it would take an age to download your demo, so I can only go by what the screenies are.

Are there any objectives in your game, 3d car game doesn't say much. Can you get out of the cars, what do you do to complete the game etc.

These are the sort of things you should tell people in your first post, that way everyone's happy. And a few more screens might encourage more people to download the demo.

Keep up the good work.

EDIT:: And there aren't that many car games here at the moment,so with a bit of luck this could turn out popular.

I like it mainly because I helped him out a lot with this back on the newcomer thread he posted about speed issues.

So this is it eh? Not much but since you've only been using the language for a couple months it's pretty good.

At least it looks like you may finish your first attempt at a full game(much unlike myself).

I agree with soapyfish. Gogeta, you don't have to be such a jerk. Indeed, get a life. xxdemzxx, it looks good. make sure you keep up the work so flamers like him don't try to break you down.

[edit] Actually I take that back after playing the demo Gogeta you still don't have to be rude but... that screenshot is really misleading. It looks good there, but in the game weird stuff happens. I don't know if it's my computer or what...

Pretty good demo, but you need to add a frame limit use sync rate 60 or something.

Oh and place the car on the ground

Just tried the demo. It had a steady frame rate here.
Some of the problems i found was that the car wasn't actually on the ground, it was in the air And also there we're not any collisions. You could program your own collisions or use sparkys free collision dll, although i still use(and prefer) the nuclear glory collision dll for dbpro. It's really easy to make collisions with it, but it isn't free though.

But i think this game is too early for a WIP Thread as pointed out by the other users. Work hard on the game, and then when you have some really juicy stuff, then post on the forums

But if you worked hard enough on this game i think it could be great.

Good Luck with the game!

Looking OK. I think the next upgrade may help you out with collision and finding the ground, it's supposed to better collision, and it's coming soon.

Ignore the harsh comments. I think it's fair for people to criticise only if it's constructive and helps you improve. "Get a life" certainly doesn't fit in to that category.

Actually.. it looks and sounds very cool..

At least, it isn't a By-Newbie-Massive-Multiplayer-Online-Racing-Game

I don't understand why some people say this stinks.

It's a great start!

Suggestion:

The only problem is that you stop instantly when letting go of reverse; otherwise, good job, and keep up the good work!

Jerk wasn't the word I was looking for...Whats a jerk but worse?

Looks like an interesting start, lacks proper progress, but the tbread is started, so lets just wait for more progress

Good demo, i like it, continue working on it and add more cars, buildings etc stuff, some street background sound, just like GTA3.
I have plan to make GTA3 clone. Coz i love this game.

Whats some new progress? Once a thread has this many posts, there should be info posted at least every 4 days!

Good job though... I like the acceleration.

Maybe look into using ODE with this, solving not only your collision worries but also your car handling right there, plus it would bring instant wow factor.

The newsletter says ODE is built into DB Pro now, so it would be almost rude not to use it, non?
