Hello,

Now that I got the full version, I have finally finished my first ever Dark Basic Pro game, Whac a mole in DBPro. It's a zip file that includes the exe, 2 sounds, and a .x file. There is an info option at the main menu, but I'll say how to play here as well.

To play is quite simple. When you start the game, a "mole" (actually a sphere) will pop up from inside the box. Press an arrowkey(s) to move the the hammer to the correct spot and press the spacebar to smash down. If you hit the "mole", it will play a sound, disappear, and you will get a point. If you miss it (that is, it goes back under the box), a different sound will play and you will get a miss point. You are allowed 5 misses before the game ends. On the 5th miss you will see your score and the game will restart.

The best way to learn how to play is to play it a couple times to get the feel and orientation of the hammer and where the arrowkeys move it to.

Also remember that to have the hammer smash a spot other than the center, you must hold the arrow key down and THEN press space.

Have fun!

DB can do 2d and 3d...so:

DB = 3d <> 2d = DB...huh?

Pretty good for a first game!

My only complaint is that it was hard...
even with my super fast gamer's reflexes ( ) i only got 15 hits

only 15 peter? thats poor! it isnt that hard or fast xD

GMX: nice first game, well done ^^ Did encounter a problem though, I couldnt press space to make the hammer fall if i was doing up and left, down and left or down and right - it worked when i did up and right though. Most likely a key conflict, but double check your code just in case ^^

maybe it was just my fast super computer...

because unless i hit the right direction keys and the spacebar simultaneously (within .5 seconds of the thing appearing) i didn't get it....

@Sephiroth: Strange, it worked for me in every direction.

@Peter: Maybe I should slow down the sync rate? It's currently at 100.

DB can do 2d and 3d, and 2d isn't like 3d...so:

DB = 3d <> 2d = DB...huh?

Maybe you should make the hammer move with the mouse, and hammer if you click? It would be alot easier to control.

Not bad!

when I said "most likely a key conflict" I meant to say "most likely a keyboard key conflict" ie, the old error on keyboards where you can only press so many buttons at once. I remember way back playing resi evil 1 on my pc and not being able to RUN forward and right at the same time so i always had to turn on the spot But I havnt encountered a problem like that in YEARS so it is indeed a bit odd.

Oh, ok. I misunderstood at first.

Not bad man. Though that matrix in the background is probably eating up your frame rate.

Never thought about that. I was just thinking without it, the background would look pretty dull. Any suggestions?

Make yourself a plain instead of a background, texure it with like, wood or something, and stick it there instead.

Also, I assume you're using a frame rate limiter, correct?

Well I'm using sync rate, is that the same thing?

no,

oh wait, dunno. just set sync rste to 0 for maximum speed, wen set to 0 it goes with whatever the computer's fastest speed is.

i think.

Yup, Peter_ is right. See, I found the game very easy. Why would that be? Because it's running faster on Peter_'s computer than on mine.

@GMX: Email me the source why don't you, and I'll see if you've got a frame rate limiter.

I don't think that would be a good idea. Not only would it give very diffrent results on every computer. But this would also make it unplayable on the fast computers.

@GMX:

You should lock the frame rate to around 30 or 60, after what fits best

Good game for a first time!
