Hi all,

Release Candidate 10 of Upgrade 6 is now out. This hopefully fixes all of the reported issues with RC9 that were submitted over the Easter holiday period.

http://files.thegamecreators.com/betafiles/DBProUpgrade60-RC10.zip

Changes are in the readme, post reports to the Bug Board flagged RC10.

We have also released new RC10 compatible DBPro plugins, these are replacement DLLs for the full (commercial) versions of Cloth and the Enhancements Plugins. They are encrypted and need the certificates from the U5.9 versions in place already. Don't install these if you do not own either of those plugins!!!

http://files.thegamecreators.com/betafiles/plugins-licensed-U6RC10.zip

If no-one finds any serious issues with RC10 then we will prepare the new installer system (which replaces that currently being used).

Cheers,

Rich

Enhancements aren't working but it's a weird one. Whatever is failing (and I think it's related to File Blocks) is on a delay. It crashed with a runtime 13, but the point at which it crashes is unpredictable, it's different every time, carrying out exactly the same code.

I'll post in bug reports if I can isolate it.

Both u6rc9 and u6rc10 when I download them the download speed is weird it works it way upto 200kb/s then drops down to zero then back upto 200 and keeps doing this then when I come to extract it with winace it says the executable could not be extracted correctly???????
I am not having trouble downloading anything else strange no!

Everything looking good so far. Shame Lee won't create an official keywords file for the advanced terrain commands or for the GamerFX dll commands, but at least the core commands look well catered for now.

I realise that having keywords in a .ini file demands you have a help page aswell (so when you hit F1), but the keyword file is ideal for just knowing what the parameters are when you focus on the command in the IDE. Maybe just a one page ditty about terrain commands to cover all the commands would be ideal.

The GamerFX keywords could just load up a help page listing all the commands and stating they are unsupported and undocumented and the reasons why.

If TGC won't do this, then maybe an experienced user can knock up something.

The icing on the cake is that in addition to the full GameFX product, we will release a free version of the DLL which includes every command you had access to under U5.9, meaning you will be able to continue any project you are working on that uses these commands. The difference is that the commands will be supported, documented and where required, bug fixed. Yet they will still be optional, so if you don\'t need to use them your EXEs will remain tight and compact."

That is a quote from Lee. It seems like the undocumented commands should be documented in the near future. Unless he changed his mind about it.

Hmm...seems to be a lack of posting on RC10, and bug reports. I'd consider that as a positive thing...

Candidate 10. Wow, so many candidates. Expansion packs...that reminds me...TGC still owes me from the 20 line challenge a while back.

Everything appears to work with this latest installment.

The only thing of mine it even broke was my TYTT game, because I was jacking with the object bounds to make the collision work correctly. I'd say I can live with that one.

Do I need to remove the 5.9 upgrade before I install an U6RC? I was having problems before because I wan't removing old release candidates before installing new ones, and I just want to get it right this time

Welcome back Philip.

You better get testing all your code with RC10 and find any last minute bugs as Lee is champing at the bit to finalise U6 any day now. It's looking really good now but last few RC's saw the usual creep in of new bugs out of nowhere, but looks like he has refixed them all.

Ever since the famous incident with the u5.something upgrade that killed lots of my WIP (admittedly mostly due to my own stupid fault), I have steered clear of testing betas and RCs. As the quid pro quo, I don't complain if a final upgrade misses a bug I have posted.

Probably a good idea like most beta testing should be done, is to have 1 stable version and 1 beta version on the go.
That's what I tend to do, so if anything breaks I can check what it is and find out if it's because of a bug or if something is actually working how it should again.

I just make copies of my project folders to test with the new betas.

@Gnomes - the bug about lots of weird characters against certain commands was recently resolved in RC10;

http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&t=76946&b=15

As you posting your query in a thread about RC10 I assume you already updated to RC10 but it sounds like you have not, or at least it did not update your keywords file successfully.

Try and reinstall it.

If you NEVER use MD2, MD3, MDL or 3DS files then add those dll's as exclusions in compiler.ini file. It should speed up compile times a bit and make exe file a lot smaller.

[EXCLUSIONS]
exdll1=ConvMD2.dll
exdll2=ConvMD3.dll
exdll3=ConvMDL.dll
exdll4=Conv3DS.dll

No, just edit the file compiler.ini that lives in the compiler folder. Edit it in notepad.

You want it to read something like this;

Compiler treats exclusions above noexclusions, and you should not really touch the noexclusions section if you don't know what you are doing.

If you do however compile a program that deals with 3DS files and you have that line in exclusions section, then program will compile but the exe will either crash with microsoft senderror type box, or DBpro will crash with a runtime error about not being able to load your object. So be warned!

In the readme it says that the commands #INCLUDE and #CONSTANT have been fixed so they link properly. But I just tried them and they came up with the same error I always got:
Quote: "Can't locate file Crogram FilesDark Basic SoftwareDark Basic ProfessionalHelpcommandscore."

I thought the problem was fixed!

[EDIT]Does the advanced terrain plugin cost? Cause the DLL is sitting in my plugins-licensed folder! Also I tried opening more than one window but it doesn't work![EDIT]

Not the lite version but the Plus version will. I think it is in that folder so that if you buy the plus version it can over write it properly.
