Having lost most of my maps when changing over to Vista, I'm now redoing "he is coming..." starting with the town, (here's the original thread, which is now locked: http://forum.thegamecreators.com/?m=forum_view&b=25&t=114189&p=0) and here are 4 screen shots of said town:

#1 - 'Which way?'

You forgot to say "and lost."

Excellent screens Nickydude! Looking forward to any demos you release. I think the lighting and entity placement is great, I think you might wanna use a more...commercial jeep to replace the Humvee. Why not use Psionic's jeep?

Here's a small video of the start of the game (this vid was to show that you can have enemies walking on roads from the Road Rage pack).

Great work Nickydude, gives off a real feeling of free roaming in a town which is not so easy to create with FPSC.
Can't wait to see more.

All the best of luck.

Ok, things I've fixed since the video:

* The flickering paper.
* The floating box (look really carefully in the alley[/i]).
* The disappearing wall section at the end.

this game is looking great, the one thing in the video I noticed was the wooden stairs at 0:43. Unless you've changed them, they seem to float, so I would use another model.

other than that, great game!

The project looks great so far, Nicky. As Ross said, it has the feel of a free-roam city.
One thing I noticed though, is the black edges on the blood stains. If you've got a proper alpha map, with greyscale shades and all, you can get it to display properly if you set the overlay to be dynamic/immobile. That way it won't cast any shadows either, but it might not adapt to the lighting too well in some situations.

Anyhow, as I said on YouTube, can't wait to play this. Keep up the good work.

Thanks guys, Chapter 1 - "Home Sweet Home" is 90% finished, it's now going into the testing stage and then other bits (menu, cutscenes..) will be added.

These were the only stairs I had that looked like they could belong in a house. Stone, marble or metal stairs just don't go.

These are from the Bloodpack666 pack (not sure who created them, Bloodeath I think), I'll have a go at cleaning them up.

I think the lampposts are too short and need to be increased in scale, but otherwise, this is looking superb, well done!!

Another shot of the town.

I'd like to thank my beta testers for their feedback, I've now made the town less linear. Beta2 will be released to the beta testers shortly.

Oh, and there will be a few 'easter eggs' in there also.

Nope, not a secret.

1/. I've surrounded the entire town with invisible segments, this way FPSC thinks it's rendering an indoor scene and squeezes a few more frame rates out.

2/. There are no dynamic entities apart from the weapons and characters.

3/. I have the enemies hidden and only spawn when the player is near (around a corner, behind a door, that sort of thing).

4/. I have each enemy spawning in a way that the it's right near the player so he will have to kill it, this stops many enemies from wandering around as that is a frame rate killer.

This is really good, are you using sketchup as your mapeditor so you can create the buildings and such? If not then where did you get the town models etc.?

No sketchup, the models (the hi-rises are by ZbVld) are from the store.
