Update: 3 Aug 07

Version 1.1.0.19 is now ready with a few requests added.

The ability to turn protection (run-time) off has now been added.

All speed issues have been addressed by removing "overkill" protection methods that were running on timers. Open Windows Task Manager while running a game, go to yourgame.exe in the process list and watch the CPU cycles used. It won't hit above 6% at any time on my computers and is 0% most of the time. Of course, this value varies with all running apps.

1.1.0.19 Patch Info: For existing PGPS installs Only

@Silent Thunder:

Here's a direct link to the v19 patch download.

Just extract and copy over the existing file structure in the root directory of Phoenix.

I've just about completed the update for v1.1.0.20 and it addresses the following:

1) Shares check does not produce a game-stopping error on any system
2) Non-English language check errors on sentry applications have been fixed
3) Added the ability to change error message text for other languages
4) Added the ability to Force Video Playback
5) Removed specialized error message pop-ups in favor of an error.txt file
6) Removed redundant real-time protection methods on timers. Games will not see ANY drop in framerate due to PGPS running.

No and I'm sorry for not getting back with you sooner. We've been working with several developers to make custom versions of Phoenix for their upcoming releases, so time has been at a premium.

I'm working on the release of v1.1.0.20 right now and going over it down to the 1's and 0's for best performance and coding specialized methods for cross-platform compatibility.

May I ask what language you used to code the is in? It looks like Visual Basic?

Waiting for a copy,

Are you using dial-up or broadband? Also, did you try the Force Connection option?

v1.1.0.20 Pre-Release Notes:

I've been so busy with the nuts and bolts of Phoenix that I decided to take a little time and work on the aesthetics. Here's the new logo to match the one by FastBurst on our website.

Dave- I would alter the font a bit. THe logo itself could use a bit of sharpening..

Cheers,
Dave

Thanks Dave! The full size logo looks the way I was going for, distressed/damaged metal. But, I'm not the best at Paint Shop Pro.

How would you alter the font?

See the attachment for a 1280x1024 .jpg of the logo screen.

I would add a gradient that went from red'ish orange to yellow and still maintain that metal feel to it. I Would actually do that to the whole image.

See attached image..

Cheers,
Dave

You could always create the logo in 3D an make a 2D render.

It's a very nice logo, but the lens-flare really kills it. Would've looked perfect without it.

@Roger Wilco: Thanks! I noticed the flare was so over-powering on my laptop. On my desktop, the LCD screen is tilted so that the flare is barely visible (and looks really good).

I agree though. I think I'll lose the flare or try again with a tone-down.

@Reality Forgotten: Oh, okay. Kinda like a fire background or something? I had that for the original logo and this one started that way, but didn't match the web logo or fonts. I'll keep it in mind and see what FastBurst thinks also.

@KeithC: Part of the logo was done in 3dsMax to get the inner shape smooth. I may have a go at doing the whole thing in 3D. Nice idea.

@Duplex: Cool!

@Crispex: I actually told you that I would give you a free copy when you completed a game. I wouldn't use PGPS to have a registration system for other software. I can supply you with custom code for your application that uses our web application for registrations, though. This is another project I'm calling "Phoenix Sentry" (the app name) and is being developed for use as an online registration system only. Haven't worked out everything yet, though.

Here's some ideas for the logo based on your input so far. What do you guys think of each version?

Flare:

Definately without the flare; it just creates unneccessary noise, IMO.

I plan on using it for games only, software is too hard to modify to use it on there.
