have
Well a couple weeks ago I landed my first job in retail (and first job ever at that) working at, well, a big American retail company which recently had an incident with the Canadians. Anyway, I like it a lot and the company itself is great, but I got yelled at by a customer (guest as we must call them) for the first time today.
A particularly disgruntled man was looking for soap bars, and my PDA gave me a location in the store I was unfamiliar with. I began walking around in an effort to rapidly find the aisle in question, only to be yelled at for walking too fast (I'll give that one to him, I'm a sportscar of a walker). After looking around a fair bit, I realized I couldn't find the aisle. I got on the talkie and asked other team members if they knew where E39 was, only to get no response. I walked to an aisle that I deemed most likely to be the one, but not being able to know for certain that it was indeed the correct aisle, I told him, partially just thinking out loud, that "My best guess is that it's this aisle..." To which he rapidly and loudly retorted, "I DON'T WANT GUESSES! I WANT ANSWERS! NOW GET ON THAT THING (referring to my PDA) AND SEARCH AGAIN!" Anyway, the main store manager came over like an angel and took over for me. I hear this is very normal for retail.
EDIT Aww man, my story doesn't seem nearly as dramatic while reading it as it did while I wrote it. Oh well, its hardz being a forum dweller!
