It's a shame you haven't beem able to make the progress. but it's part of the learning processes, picking up from your mistakes and see where you've gone wrong. Don't worry a number of my projects haven't worked as well as anticipated but listening to what others have had to say and looking at how other projects progress I soon picked up a way to work. Not to mention placeholders are a godsend when it comes to coding the main engine parts.

Hope you can see the area you're weak and learn separately to build those elements up, and of course hopefully once you've come around your mistakes, you'll be back on your projects. I think it's good you've been having a go at it, because that's one way to learn, even if the results aren't what you want or what other people expect of you.

Good luck though dude.

Best of luck, Zeus. You've shown you can actually have a n00b turning into a newbie, and I'm certain that you can reach the next level. As said, start with simple, simple stuff. Heck, try something as simple as a mini-platformer! Or Pong! Or.. Or... you get the point!

Like Sepp said, best of luck!

zeus,

looks like a decent start to the "needs" bars. a couple suggestions on the lay-out/etc:

1) consider giving a full outline to the bar. it makes for clearer/more precise info (ie, "about 50%" or "completely in need!". )

2) looks like you've centered the icons under the bars, which is good. but, you need to lower the icons some.

here are some examples:

btw, do the bars "work"?

PS: good to see my icons being put to use. was thinking you wouldn't use them when you transitioned to 3D. if you need more, let me know.

Yes the bars work. Thanks for the offer. I will work on the outline and thanks for the comment.

Come on guys, why no more comments than this?

Seriously i think its not ready for wip yet.. You should listen to Tha_Rami and make your game patient and post later.

Seriously, Youtube video please. There's absolutely sod-all we can gather from your screenshots, other than a sense of wasted time.

Lookin' good Zeus. That's more progress than most of them probably suspected you'd have. I especially like the 'object sensitive' mouse.

Did you notice the top of the dog house does not color along, and whats with the first shot of the dog where it appears to fall over?

Like said, work on!

Yes, I like the video. It's actually quite well put together, Jordan. I think the dog moves a bit too slow.

The menus are good, quite readable. The dog looks like it's been given a fatal injection when it "sleeps" though. It sort of drunkenly capsizes.

Well, it isn't that slow in the game, Fraps slowed it down for some reason. And the dog collapsing like that is temporary until I can get/make an animation for him collapsing. Any suggestions on making a skeleton for that dog in just the free CShop?

It slowed because your game is not timer based.. And when its not timer based some other people computer will run it faster or slower. You should add timer based movement!

Your game is not going to be good if you dont add the timer things to it. Because otherwise there will be speed proplems!

What happened to letting the thread die and only posting when you have enough progress? .

It's looking better, but still not worth a WIP IMO. Keep working at it and then post a new WIP when you have a lot more done.

You don't need to prove anything, the point is that the project isn't really ready for a WIP, I think. Wait a bit and then post a better and more clean one .

And dó keep it up, though. And dó post when you need help. Actually, I think while it isn't a real lot, you should keep posting here. I think this constitutes as a WIP.

Keep it up.

Zeus,

you do what you want here. you're going to hear "stop" and "keep posting" both, so you do what you feel you should.

if it was me, and it isn't so this is only a suggestion, i'd take a break from this WIP thread, make some real progress without feeling any pressure from the tug-o-war that this thread is becoming, and then drop a big, steaming pile of "take that!" down that noone could deny was a solid WIP. any questions you might have could go in the DBPro boards, and those will be viewed by more people than are following the WIP thread here so i don't see why you wouldn't do that anyway.

this is simply my advice. if the thread continues, so be it. those of us who don't want the "updates" can choose to take a break from the thread. that's what i'm going to be doing and it's nothing against you at all. you work at the pace you work at and i'll check back every once in awhile. until then, good luck and keep at it!

Hmmmmm..... I think personally I have enough progress due to this is how much I had done to the 2d one when I posted it on this thread. So I might keep posting here.

Demo! Sorry, it has an installer. My interent acts funny if I upload more than 9mb. Read the README for info on the demo. You can also sign-up on the forum to chat about the game and report bugs.

...no

Look JSG, you bumped a thread 6 hours after posting, an unfortunate mistake. Also, I wont download installers for anything but finished games or demos that I think I'll want to play more than once. In fact, I almost always save game demo's from the forum to temp folders. I also ask what you've shown us that could possibly take up 9mb COMPRESSED.

Never... NEVER and I mean NEVER bump. If your topic has gone dead for 2 months you might. And even then, only if you've got a darn good reason. I've told you so a thousand times, haven't I?

Nevertheless, I downloaded and played it. I encountered a bug: If you select male, then female, and then male, it can't go back to male. On the color select screen, sometimes the colors seem to mix up, especially if you click a color more than once.

I couldn't click the green arrow on the color select screen. It wouldn't let me. So this is where my review ends.

I experienced all of the same bugs as tha_rami. Although, I managed to get the next bit (where you can feed the dog and stuff), and I got a runtime error. I'm using vista btw.

Apart from the negatives, I do like the colourful menus for choosing the dog type, kennel and stuff.

It's pointless to require the use of an installer for a game at this level of development.

Yep, otherwise people won't be too trusting of it. Installers can do nasty things.

And no bumping please, unless you've got an update of some sort.

The green arrow doesn't work yet. I didn't know about the female/male thing. Rami, you have to click "OK" to go on at the bottom. Sorry about the bump. Kinks are being worked out.
