This is the game Witchgate I am making, I have been woring on this
project for over 4 years off and on, you might say that its my pet
project I dable with in-between the real world stuff I have to do
to make a living. I am using the Realmcrafter engine to make this
game which can be bought here from the TGC e-store. Now, on to the
screenshots~

I will only put 3 images per post to keep the lag down, I hope you
like them.

Just let me ask you one thing, did you make all the vegetation yourself? Because they're beautiful!

Thank you Alucard94,
I made all the trees and plants with 2 programs I bought from the
TGC e-store, they are totaly MUST HAVE programs called "Tree Magic"
and "Plant Life". I have had great luck with them and everthing works
in Realmcrafter. I can get the trees to work in DarkBasic but for
some reason the Plants will not show up with the skins. I have been
working on getting trees and plants from the programs into DBpro.
Now this is not to say that I don't make Trees and plants in my
modeler because sometimes you have to in order to get the look you
want but for fast model generation and generic grass and plants
you can't beat these programs, what a time saver they are~
Now arranging your plants and trees to give your level a feeing of
life is a skill in it own,
Thanks again for your kind words Alucard94, if you want a tree to
play with I have one you can have. You could make yourself a forest
with it

ALways~

Ah, that's what I thought. And I used to follow this a while back on a RC Forum, although I can't ever remember which one since it was so long ago. Point is, your game is awesome!

Hi Achi,
Thank you for your kind words, I am an avid Truspace user, I make
almost all my models with it. I am working on a tutorial for you
guys along with some other items I had to first learn how to use
DarkBasic before I was able to make a tutorial worthy of you guys
but I'm almost finished with the last part and soon all of it will
be yours. Thats really all I can say about it right now

The table I made for you guys gave me a great idea for a
tomb so I used it today and made this:

its the tomb that connects to Darmack village (the place with all
the lizard people) Looks pretty cool after I added the effects~

more to come~

From what I've seen from Vickie she uses Truespace/Gamespace and is very talented doing so.

@Vickie

if I added some of my consept art work could you help me make some model`s from them?

I`m ok with truespace and making basic model`s, but can`t map the texture I guess I`m a bit of a novice when it comes to that part.

@ Vickie

Very beautiful landscape and models, I especially like the dragon. You have done some unbelievably cool work, can`t wait for more screen shots.. Have you made any videos yet?

@Sindore,
Hey I'll do what I can, I have a lot on my plate at the moment if you know what I mean, but I would be happy to help you~

@Achi
Nice model Achi, looks really cool!

I have changed the particals from a fire look to a green ghost
skulls. I think it adds more to the feel of the tomb this way.

does realmcrafter and truespace come for mac?

i know this is odd, i cant even use DB on this lol

furthermore if you need beta testers......

PS: i like the green skulls thing it looks cool, but, can you maybe widen the scope to which the particles fly? so they fly more outwards? and if like max truespace supports forces, a twister vaccum would be cool at the top of the particle flow

I think ill take the blue pill

if you need some help with particals textures then I can help

here are some of the basic one`s that I have made.

the particals you have made look nice, but it would look 10* better if you used one of the basic partical textures that I added here, with the ode big skull poping up from time to time in the center of your fier.

I don`t think that it would take away from the look of your tomb but inhance it even more.

ever way its up to you, but you could humer me and just test it and see what it would look like.

call on my bro ill send him the files,

and omg ur texturing is majestic!

(For the tomb sub-level part): if you maybe added a plane above with some mild refraction or some particle generators here and there with a low emission frequency that let out large particles that refract, it could give a good effect, it makes the plce look like it has.... spiritual presence ( extract from a film)

or, hmm, i cant think of any other way i can get tht file to you, my msn is writen on here, i think....

Vickie I think I`ve maped out a model in truespace but when I saved out the texture none of the outlines where on the image, do you know how I can save out the image with the outlines in place?

I have some old art you can use for you monsters but you will have to translate them in to 3D, there only quick sketchs and are not complet, but by the look of thing I`m guess you could finish them how you like.

hope this give you something to work from

here is a skull partical I just made I hope you like it, you can edit it how ever you like, thort you could use it in your tomb with the green ghost skulls fire, as a big skull in the center of the fire.

hope this is usefal.

Wow Vickie this is looking incredible. Could you teach me how to place models so they look "natural" like that? You do a good job of avoiding awkwardness and have insipred me to learn to use Truespace .

Just one thing. The lighting on the character in the tomb scene seems slightly strange to me... like it should be blueish teal instead, like the walls of the tomb are. Is there something in the scene causing the red light on the character? You may want to make it easier to tell if there is (unless you just haven't gotten to changing the light yet )

Vickie how can I say this, I have no game so have no level`s.

I`ve bin working on my game for about 5/6 year`s, I have tones of code/texture/images/consept art/graphic art/music/sounds/etc, but I have never put it all together, be cos there all way`s seem to be more to learn, if it not something with dark physic`s stuff, its AI or rpg elament, fps tech etc.

so I have no game of which to show off, but your`s is looking good, and I thort that I would help, but you don`t have to use any of it if you don`t wont.

I just throt that I would offer some bits of what I do have to every one from time to time.

I apologize if I`m butting in, I just throt that it would be nice to give some help to you.

hope you liked the skull anyway good luck with the rest of this project, can`t wait to play it.

Vickie have a look at this like

now at the bottom of this thred is some pic's of a game I started making years ago in dbc, but I just hated it so I never finshed it, I had no way of making the land scape, so I had to programed a matrix of which I did not like one bit.

I made some crap tree`s and plants with some crapy model editer, bad textures with what I had to make them with which was paint.

I just didn`t get on with it be cos I hated making it.

you`ll see what I meen, have a look at the bottom of this link.

Yeah! I got it; I have achieved the look I was after for this portal door. The particle effect is now the misty eerie cloud with a hint of skull faces in the mix so as you are looking at it you sort of catch the skull faces out of the corner of your eye. The effect make you look twice at it. This is so cool~

This tombs remind me of the catacombs in the Guild Wars prologue (which were a quite cool place!). The outdoor-scenes rather look like World of Warcraft, which is probably not that bad.
The models look really brilliant, I especially like the horse.. don't really know why, it just looks somehow real.
However, I can't really tell you anything more than that I'm looking forward to more progress.

Hi Vickie!

Quote: "I can get the trees to work in DarkBasic but for some reason the Plants will not show up with the skins."

Once you've selected your textures, you need to export them/it using the button shown below. PlantLife will prompt you for a file name and then save all the textures you've selected into one image file. Then after you've exported your plant object, copy both the object file and the image file to your game. You should get your textures.

You'll also need to change the object transparency, so the textures look right.

Your game's looking great!

- Jane

P.S. Yes, I know a tropical plant in a desert is incongruous. I just used what I had handy.

personally, i think the lizzard people should be alot smaller or bigger than the character, it just makes an emphasis on the ifference in species, and also will make them look cute if theyre small or mighty if bigger

the idea i get it from is moogles in Final fantasy, theyre small and different

well, Loch in Scotland means a lake, soo, if you maybe made it sound like there used to be a watery plain there then maybe the name would still; fit, you know, give the villagers a bit of gossip to spread to the player or, have a storyteller in the town,

or sayyyy, do what he enchanted arms staff did and take a real towns name and swap letter around, eg they made Tokyo - Kyoto

It sounds very British/North American, a desert city's name should sound Mexican or Middle Eastern, something along those lines. How about:

Arralus
Mezarrah
Saif

Although I don't like the idea of RealmCrafter games being posted here because of the possible influx of a trillion and one click together MMOs, you clearly have some great modelling skills and the screenies look excellent. Good work.

Vickie I just had a look at your The desert city of Lockdale pic, I know its still a work in progres but I think you need to add some piles of sand in the corners of you structures, small dryed out tumble weeds bombing around the place, and maybe even a big markit in that big open space.

but as always I'm just giving you an idea or two, still alls looking good.
