Well hello there people, its quite a nice climate here isn't it?
Sarcasim aside, I thought i would post some conceptual weapons that ill probably give away in a pack,

sorry for knicking your idea Image All

Out of intrest? Whats your weapon of choice? Please keep it in the styling. =) short swords, akes, maces, bows that style.

I will keep this post for all the weapons and will make new ones for answers/poll/updates, just to keep this one clean.

C&C as always is welcomed,

Anyho, heres the first weapon;

hand an''half sword,

805 polies and 406 verts

Pics removed for the sake of space

Surprisingly simple design, The idea was formed from a character preference of Ject, the sword need to be light, durable, for parrying, strong enough to pierce light armour, and for use with one or two hand/s depending on the strike stance, if a shiled is available, it can easily be used in one,

So hand an' half sword was born. When the texture is done, thier will be a crystal at the hilt, the sheath was lost decades ago so that will not be a nesscity. Elf forged so the blade is emmensly strong few blades can equal it, never rusts, never dulled. Perfect weapon for a saviour, or a destroyer...
As you can see i let my imagination go wild here, Why not anyway? I like to give context to my weapons...

To be continued cb

Lookin' good.

I think you should give the blade a "pinch" halfway up, I mean, so the blade goes in and out.

The edges of the hilt (the "devil horns" on either side) look a little odd, make them longer and give them more of a curve maybe?

I was toying with that idea, but its on another branch of weapons so for now, ill leave it as is, but the deflectives, or ever so elequantly devil horns, are still be experimented with,

The proportion was to allow them to defelct the opposing blade without allowing the blade to interfere with swing, I was going to 'flick them outwards slightly, to achive this effect, I have some experience with swordsman ship, during a two year splint of 'sport' on the valley fields and woods, with archery, swords, chain mail and plate armour with a friend ive know for what 11 years out a 16 year life lol. Damm my grandad was a lunatic unleashing us with that gear.
The armour dosent fit anymore and the swords cannot hope to hold up against our barrages. the accidents where few but, very severve

Ill post a image of my scare across my kneecape from where he seen a weakness in my stance. I repaid the dept to his stomach...

Good old days they never last...

I really like this! Awesome job lazerus. You also did a wonderful job posting the angles and other types of shots. It's so nice not to have to remind someone for a change.

Nothing really to critique yet. I can't wait to see it textured!

Very nicely done

Weapons of choice:
1st - Scimitar
2nd - Bastard Sword
3rd (depending on the design upwards) - long swords with neat etchings in them

If at first you dont succeed, LOWER YOUR STANDARDS.

That doesn't really remind me of any of my ideas unless I think about it really hard. Of course this statement may or may not be as relevant as I think it is, as I don't fully understand the use of the work "knicking" in that context Slightly reminiscent of the Runescape sword I think, with the way the guards on the hilt are curved

But about the sword itself, I think it looks like it does what it's supposed to do; you designed it to be more tactical than stylish I just can't decide if those cut-outs look like they'll get caught on the guts as you slice through or not. I don't really think it will be a problem as you've tapered them slightly and the blade would have cut a clean path through already.

Actually there's something about this geometry that caught my eye:

Remember those old guys? They made epic renders, I think one of them was called DaVinci, and all they used was MS Paint. Sometimes it's just skill....

Hmm forgot complelty about that loop, ohh well thanks for pointing it out though slighlty two late, heres the finished texture,

Picture load removed ####################

sorry for image intensive, I couldn't get the whole sword in the blood render without causing some idiotic problem.

A finish is a finish so tadaa,
Though I wouldn't expect any updates in a while to come, some issues in another thread, I dont wish any details being said here, I've played my party piece

It reads 'Veros Marcova' Fate Bringer
Thought it would be a nice finishing touch, for it to be written in an ancient language.

C&C as always

cheers cb

The number 4 sketch looks very organic and menacing, I like it

As for the first sword, my only crit is it looks way too clean. Even for a newly forged sword, it looks too clean

Also them gem on that sword and the new one, you could get away with by getting rid of most of those polys and do it all with a texture. Though that's my personal preference.

Oh btw 806 polyies and 402/? verts

as for the gems, there going to be my focus points, I really don't want to give a huge chunck of time and parts of my book to explain why so, There what makes the sword, helpful = nope, Though this extremly shortened version might help,
gem= sword= immortal/
sword= gem= unbreakable= badguy/goodguy= war/
got it?

wow that sounds really patronising, sorry its just one of those things,

uv mapped and ready for texture, things are moving quite smoothly, oh btw the counter part will have a slightly different texture map, just to add a bit of flavour,
flavour? jesus whats up with me today...

That is a cool looking sword lazerus, nice job for sure.

I've never modeled any weapons before myself. A friend of mine has a very nice Katana that I would like to do though. the handle is made of ivory I think, or atleast looks like it. And very detailed

The uv map is above, thought it'd be nice to post it, thiers no stretching, as far i know anyway, goin give it and inch by inch look over before anything,

Yeah, thier dual swords, but i was toying with the idea that the won't look the same, if all else fails ill simply copy the uv coordinates from the first and theyll be the same again,
I just wanted the option,

ill edit this post when i get the render right,

edit

The texture came off worse than what i thought so i remmapped the side and turned it blue on both, (not the part of the blade you see the, the thicker side facing downwards/upwards. not a huge difference but it helps,

Am going to get to work on the bow next, after i tweak the purple out of the texture,

2nd double post //slaps myself\

heres the textured version of the katana,

Ill work on the bow some more today,
Almira holds this weapon,
btw Almira = 'Truth without question',

If you haven't guessed it i love names/words with hidden meanings or multiply interpreatations its a good marker, and it serves to add more depth to a story,

Ohh and sneaky smith12 there will be sharing of most of these weapons, ill realese a pack to comemerate are new mod

I don't really like the shape of the handle on the katana, generally katana handles seem more cylindrical, and if you want that jewel in there I'd suggest just indenting it in the cylindrical shape.
And your questions are rather simple, at times it seems like you just put up a grunge texture on it with no modification or just very contrasting colors with grunge brushes, sure it looks pretty nice I guess but I don't really see the realism. Looks good though, you're rather good at swords. I like the fact that you plan your things out a bit.

I, the texture was slightly rushed, 30min i think, it was really just to get an idea of how to set the style up, it will look like the other texture map when am done, but for now its SUNNY IN ENGLAND so am going to bask in it

cheers cb

this is true aftermath of a party, just went ot book up me laptop notebook/ and looky what i found -_-
//look at uplaod pic, that anit no abstract background...
Am back at 6th form tomorrow googled around and the screen costs more than what i paid for it, well there gose this weeks sallery anyways.

lol i thought that might cheer some ppl up, it sure gave me a few laughs...

Ughh i grow bored of weapons, I got half way through the new katana, and i just got really tired of it. It just happens every so often so to save pushing it, am moving onto the next step of the blood right to-do list which is the five/? cities.
At the moment am working on theo /code named / Dont want to realse my writing muse//

Ill post screen shots of the main tower when it's ready, Dont worry about image intensity of my work flow i plan on producing a single sheet of all the renders and one 512x512 final, Ill replace the ones above when am ready.

Ohh btw can BigAdd please change the thread name from// Weapons for a BlooD Right //. //To// Lazerus' Models
If youv figured that out lol, thxs in advance

Edit, heres the new update on theo tower, the rest of the buildings will be situated around it,
,
compressed 4 renders, yay!
1500 polyies, although i have no real aim on the count, itll be nice to keep it as low as i can, so when i start to model the city,i dont overload it and crash, plus the renders will be faster. Ill update as i go, the tower still has a few 'layers' to go

Cheers cb

thxs BiggAdd

twideling my thumbs for a bit, while i sketch out the rest of the cities' I want to get this right lol

So in the mean time i wanted to practise my rendering/ scene setting skills, although i know a great deal on max, i barely scratched the surface of its rendering how stupid on me...
I simply self teaching atm it helps me remember what ive done and learnt. more-so than a tutourial, stupid i know/?.

Anyway i stumbeled upon this little trick, so i thought id share, though I have assumed that you know a little about max and materials

Pic removed

I set up my lighting as per usual, 2 omni's and one target.

Then create two planes one at the base of the model and one a few feet'?/ (measurement) under. create a artitectual material// where it says standard choose the water preset, set the diffuse to a nice blue and place it on the top plane. Choose another material for the lower plane, a standard will do. and vollia you get a nice reflective surface that gradients out strangely.

Now;

On render setting select the preset/ mental ray no gi high'

then choose the Indirect illuminaton// turn final gather//on// and set it to medium hit render, sit back, and watch it unfold,

it took 8 sec on my pc but thats with a 2k polycount

Its probably no use to anyone but if it helps it helps.

cheers cb

I finally got some time to model, being a ninja i fitted all my jobs into one today so i had a spare hour free, so i thought id make a lybithan with a limit of 500 polyies, keeping in theme with reaching a deadline, it came out exactly 500 polies and 504 verts, so yay me, that means nothing though if the model sucks, so heres a montage of renders and wireframes, still havnt found time to replace those images, huhh

heres the pics

Ill texture next free hour i get, Insipered by GOW2 lybithian and neo's works- his only came to mind after i modeled the spikes on its back, thxs for insperation lol

I intended to keep my promise, so heres the models above, including libithan, all are uv mapped except the tower,
Another sword, Fire sword for sake of a better name still needed to be textured. Though geo is done.

I honestly dont mind about the others but please give me credit on the malice sword, personal favourite lol, that still dosen't mean you can claim them as your own...

cheers cb

playing around with low poly chracters,
So far hes 444 polyies and 442 verts.
I noticed alot of lowpoly chracters going around so i thought id throw mine up.

still need some practice, but as this is the *very* low poly version, i have not defined the mucles as i should, dont worry, from this ill work up a nice higher defined poly version...

ill upload the dl link for this when i finish a few pesky problems.

Yes its me working late again but i dont have much free time of a day,
