Well Dark if I know the answers I might as well help the people out. Saves you time that can go towards Cranox

Yeah the map editor preview sounds cool. Since as of now the preview isnt very good. I dont even use it unless im serious about my entity placement.

i mean a real time preview
so you place a light, press a key and it updates all the lightning (just if you want, you can always put it off!)

Wow! That'd be awesome, but lightmapping times, (especially on higher settings), would drag it a bit...

If I was ever given the opportunity to remove all the bad from the world, I wouldn't, because for there to be heroism, compassion and all that is good, there must also be all that is bad.

well no...
its real-time lightmapping so there is no need for that.
K it needs to calculate the lightning but thats fast. and in the editor, you will not have Shadows on a resolution of 512*512 ^^

It wouldn't be necessary for them to be that size either. I can't wait to see this when it's released, when might we see the first beta?

Finally I got an Demolevel ready for you guys.

Please read the ReadMe.txt in the Mainfolder, its very important to know the things inside of it!

Do not expect such a nice performance right now, but there were a lot of people waiting for a little Demolevel.

Downloadlink - Mirror 1: http://blutigerwinter.astarot.bplaced.de/cranox/Cranox%20Mod%20Demolevel.rar

PS: Maybe on the end of this week there will be a Launcher for the Demo, so you dont have to adjust all the Settings like said in the ReadMe!
And dont forget your PC Specs for a Bug Report!

Have fun
DG

EDIT:
Sry forgot the Flashlight keys:

F: Flashlight On
G: Flashlight Off

Dling now.

Expect a detailed bug report emailed to you soon, or when i see you on msn.

I dont care for performance i want to see what cranox can bring the table. After using C++ i expect plenty, and i shall compare the too. But I hopefully I have not supported your mod for nothing which im sure i havn't.

Uhhh goblin next beta you release you should use some sort of game protection software since things can easily be ripped from this demo... NOBODY GET ANY IDEAS!

It just didn't work for me (run of the mill Dell XPS with a 256 graphics card/4GB RAM). It was slow in coming up (arrow jumped around a lot at menu startup), then I just ended up dying (drowning) right from the start...and that was a slow death, let me tell you!

1.Yes The Water Moved A Little Too slow....
2.When I Press 1 it gets colorful and da world disappears
3.When I Press 2 I dont even know how to explain it...It Looks Like The Walls And Stuff Are Like Crayons or Caulk or Something.
4.When I Press 3 everything looks super dusty and gray and white.
5.When I Press 4 A Small White Box Appears.
6.When I Press 5 A Bigger Black Box Appears.
7.The Water Fog Thing Did Nothing
8.The Shawdos Looks Too Light with The Flashlight...It Took Me Awhile To Notcie the Shadows On The Railing With The Flashlight.

Altogether it looked Great!!

Well, guess I'm having the worst luck so far. OK, so yeah I didn't see any water at all. And there were no shadows at all, besides some on static objects. But they just looked like normal fpsc shadows.
I did see some shadows move with the flash light though, not much though. But that's the only dynamic lighting experience I was offered.
Shame really.
Hope it will be fixed.
Maybe its because I am using Nvidia Technology?

have you turned the Dynamic Shadows on in the setup.ini?

Because they are deactivated because they can produce a hugh framedrop, if you move the objects!

the keys 1-5 are Debug Images, dont worry about them.

And the Num Keys to something, you just need to wait some time!

EDIT:

@Lewis:
You need to raise the Water, I have written how to do this in the Setup.ini

@KeithC:
I think your GraphicsCard is the problem...
but dont know!

@ZFletch1:
Looks like you try to run it on an Notebook. So that would be the problem ^^

Argh, excuse my dumness. I'm tired
But that fixed all the problems, with dynamic shadows for objects and DoF turned on I get a good, solid, 60 fps, sometimes more.
Great job DG!
I always loved Evolved's water, especially the under water system.
Anyways, again, great job.

I think you have the dynamic object shadows on, dont you?

Than the Water gets to the objects, the Water physics is activated and the Objects "float" in the Water.

And also the Shadows need to be updated.

Thats the reason ^^

I ran it, but it was really slow, and when I spawn, the water was above my head, and I died...

Then, when I respawned, I plummeted through the floor, and died again...

On my last life, I bounced up, stuck to the ceiling, then when I tried to have a look at the level by walking, I fell through the floor again...

Here's my specs:

Admittedly, EFX ran at only 10 fps for me, my PC only rates at 4.1 on the Vista Rating System. It's a pity, because that tiny look I did get at the level looked beautiful.

thanks for that sorry for be so idiotic
i got it running and it loaded very quickly at the start i was getting an average fps of about 62 and it at one point went as low as 28, but after a while it settled and i was getting around 92 and as high as 99
BUGS:
i got some popping where some lights were rendered differently form different distances and there were some issues with the water where some sections of the segments weren't refracted or affected by the water in any way however

other than that it was very good and i have to congratulate you on the water as i feel that it was some of the most realistic water in a game, not FPSC a game (and that includes crysis ), the flashlight was very good and i think with lower ambiences would rival that of doom 3

one thing i thought may have been good would have been the ability to control the ambience in the level

Nice work on this DG I got a nice 120 fps apart from one section where it drop to like 35fps but it ran great.

Only issue I did have was a funny hum noise when playing.

Unfortunately for me my pc isn't fast enough to run it, it just crashed my pc Nevermind.

Also for the Cranox Modifications logo is the spelling mistake deliberate or a mistake?

That is the german spelling im guessing it is meant to be like that

Onto the mod...
I have a big issue i cannto run the mod no idea why have tried on following pcs:

Mine
Windows 7
Direct X10.1 (patched with X9.0c first)
Core 2 Duo 3.2Ghz
4GB Ram
2x 9600GT 1GB

2nd PC
Windows XP SP3
Direct X 9.0c
Core 2 Duo 2.8Ghz
2GB Ram
7200GT 512MB

3rd PC
Windows XP SP3
Direct X 9.0c
Intel Pentium 4 2.8Ghz
2GB Ram
5200GT 256MB

Those first two are both more than capable than running nearly every FPSC mod out there the first one defiantly is. When running the exe i get the windows error "This program is not responding" any ideas why i get this any help is very welcome.

This Mod is absolutely gorgeous. It runs perfect on my
machine.

I can't wait until this is released. I love it, everything is great.

The DoF is, however, a little blocky to me. Even in the screen shots.

thats the german Word for "Modification" ^^

so its like it should be

EDIT:
Also no idea why it does not run on your PC.
First I thought about Windows 7 but for others it runs. So maybe some other problems, dont know sry.

Also you need to know this mod has a big performance problem, so its just normal that you can run all other mods perfectly but not Cranox Mod!

Just tried it after reading what Cyclone said about his specs.

I got 2 fps. Fell through the floor everytime I spawned. The main menu lagged terribly. The water didnt move when i was able to not* fall through the floor the next time.

Some computers insist on not running FPSC. Take my dads, using blue um I get maybe around 10 fps avg. Granted the card is a little outdated, and my RAM is the min, but my processor is a dual core athalon, which S4 said should fly.

And those frames are with Shaders OFF. I get 4fps with on. Why does technology hate me?

This mod looks really great!

I just got one problem..
First I got some .dll missing errors. But those were the same I had with EFX, so I knew how to fix it (put the following 3 .dll files in the windows/system folder: mfc71.dll, msvcr71.dl, msvcp71.dll (thanks to Nomad Soul)).

But now I get the "Runtime 118" error when I test the game, while I don't get this error without the mod..

well I dont know why you get a Runtime Error.
Maybe you have the wrong dll`s, thats what my problem was sometime. I downloaded all 3 of them and than got such an error.

Maybe try to get them from a diferrent server.

EDIT:

Now there is an official page on the official Cranox Interactive Homepage for "Cranox Mod".

Tested the demo out, forgot to check performance before tinkering with settings in the setup. I guess I was too excited.

But, with 256 shadow resolution and dynamic object shadows on, I get (at an estimated average) around 60 FPS. Framerate drops by 3-5 frames when I raise the water up to visibility, so around 56 with water.
The one perfomance issue that stood out for me was when I picked up a dynamic object or otherwise made it move. While throwing barrels around, FPS usually dropped to around 25.

My specs, if relevant;

I must say that it was awesome to see an FPSC level run with full scene bump/parallax mapping and dynamic lights and shadows. Since I first played STALKER, I dreamed of being able to achieve similar graphical quality in FPSC. Looks like it's not far off now.

Keep up the great work, I hope you can get it optimized even further so that it'll run great on more systems.

I tried pushing settings to the limit, running with object dynamic shadows and 1024 resolution shadows. As long as I didn't make use of the physics engine in any way, it stayed pretty firmly at around 50 FPS.
I'm running at a 1680x1050 monitor, by the way, forgot to mention that last time.

Keeping the default settings (128 shadows and no object shadows), framerates peaked at around 80-90.

EDIT: By the way, how do I enable ordinary normal mapping? I've tried parallax and relief, but I'm not sure what term to enter to enable normal.
