We have sucessfully secured the military base, but at a cost.

Total units of ours on the battleground: 96283
Securing the government building: 10%

We have also secured the hospital, the mutants will no longer be able to reproduce or plan attacks correctly.

Report on Herkopolis:

Population: 650 (100 scientists, 200 militia, 300 civilians, 50 children)

White Mesa: currently inventing numerous types of marketing goods

Goods currently available for export: Nice warm sweat shirts

So who wants to purchase some nice warm Herkopolis brand sweaters?

Ok, sorry I couldnt play, I am thinking of starting a differant game that allows less... Madness. It will be set at 1000AD and will put up the rules later on a differant thread that won't be this one. If you are interisted, contact me at techaton (@) gmail (.) com

That sounds pretty good, but I'm not sure if the mods will like yet another game. You can give it a shot, tho.
We have sucessfully secured zone 14, with around 10000 units remaining. We have also found a cure for the mutation and isolated it for good. I'll update the map in a sec.

OOH! I do! I do!

EDIT:

@Techathon, would you rather just restart this game on this thread with the 1000 AD?

I would like two threads, this one for non-game talk and the other one for the game, would that be allowed?

I think we can continue this game until the next one is up.
EDIT: 1000AD game rules
You control a nation at 1000AD.
Wars are handled via designated 3rd parties. PMs must be sent to them and they will write a report. One person (me) will not play to be a third party, but if anyone else wants to help and play, they can as long as they are neutral in the conflict.

Technology will be handled via third party to be realistic.

Colonies will must be approved via third party.

If there is anything outragous, you will be asked to delete it.

One day is five years.

That'll be $10 a piece. There are currently 7000 sweaters in stock.

20 of the civilians of Herkopolis begin to learn how to make statues. Early design concepts of the great statue of Herakles are made.

I think it's better if you isolate all this to one thread, the other one might get locked. Honestly I'm not even sure what you mean by "non-game talk". And personally I'm enjoying this game, but it's your choice.

Good! We'll buy all of them, and yes, we are a nation with much more than $70000. My soldiers need sweaters!

Well, normally there would be a limit to how many we will sell all at once, but we are currently bankrupt so we'll take all the money we can get. They're all yours.

Herkopolis report 2:

Population: 652 (100 scientists, 200 militia, 300 civilians, 52 children)

Total money: $70000

White Mesa: research continues

Exports: Sweaters (currently out of stock)

To be honest, I think this thread is going just fine and serving as a fun game for a lot of people. I thought an unmoderated, no-rules game like this would dissolve into chaos and nuclear winters when I saw it, and too many people would claim to suddenly invent superlasers and death stars and stuff. There have been a few of those people, but everyone else has shouted them down/ignored them and the game is still going almost 500 posts later. Maybe it wasn't what you originally had in mind when you created the thread, but it works, and in my opinion it's a lot more fun than it would be with more concrete rules. Though I think we might all benefit from some solid numbers on how much we can build at once, economy and income, and numbers-related things like that.

I think the game is awesome as it is... but I think starting again, with the same format would be pretty good. The whole extra land and godzilla thing kinda made things OOT unrealistic.

I think we should write up a .PDF or .txt document with a very loose set of ideas reguarding the speed technology is advanced in. If anything, maybe a cost system (e.g., it'll take 5 years / 5 days to research into laser weapons and only 3 fields of science can be researched every year). Just some ideas to keep the game going at a steady pace and nobody conquering the world in 10 posts.

I don't really want to restart, especially since BMacZero put the work into revising the map. And Techathon, I think you're playing as Egypt, so you can play along if you want.

I now have the technology to make nukes(you would have though I would have got nukes before my plasma cannons...) and in addition to that I am expanding my land to both sides of the north part of my country.

Yeah, I was like "noooooo!" when you were talking about restarting after I did that .

If you want to apply a few rules I'm sure that can be done with the same layout of countries anyway.

New rules are fine I guess, I just want to play in the form we've been doing so far.

I updated the map, I think it's safe to say we can display it again. It has a lower resolution.

I was out buying a loaf of bread and a nasty man shot me in the face... I am dead... game over!... for me... I leave my empire to my cat tiddles and to my wife I leave nothing.

I got bored because I was trying to set up a big battle against the mutated but everyone just said "I kill all the mutants, problem solved", if we put a bit more narrative into it it'd be more fun. All this crazy technology kind of detracts from it as well for me.

I tried to write up some rules but it got a bit complicated so I scrapped them. I will look at sheep's rules and try again.

The amount of work you must have done writing that PDF is impressive, but I don't think rules that specific would be good for this game. I think the whole "winging it" style fits this game well. Though I do think there should be some general rules:

No apocalyptic super technology (I think that should include nukes)

No taking too much territory in one post

Wars are handled by a neutral third party

And that's all I can think of for now. And 1 real life day = 1 in game year seems to work well.

Anyway, my attention is required elsewhere (real life) at the moment, so I can't give a full "report" on Herkopolis. Suffice it to say that we're making more sweaters and other trade goods.

Egypt Report 1
Egypt has been standing still too long in this moving world. As egypt lacks the extreme size and force that the other nations of the world currentially posess, they ar very capible of being neutral. Thuslly, we are building and setting up the "world assembly". Every nation shall vote at the assembly. But first there must be an elected leader of this world assembly.

Military:
Egypt is ordering a draft for self-defence.

To: World
Fr: Egypt
Do you want to join the world assembly? The vote for leader will be up next year and only people who reply soon will be elegable to have their leader of world assembly. This will be like the old UN.

To World:
Fr: Egypt

We are a pieceful people, do you wish to sign a non-agression pact?

I would very much like to sign the pact, and I would be happy to host the location of the W.A. on my islands to the South if you believe it's a better location than Egypt. The security is up-to-date with the giant electric fence surrounding it, and there is but one person who lives here. Me. It's a very secluded and safe area to build something of such importance.

Herkopolis is an isolationist settlement, and we do not wish to involve ourselves in the politics of the other nations (other than for trade). We will not join the world assembly, though we are not hostile to it. But we are a peaceful people, so we will indeed sign the non agression pact.

Construction of the great statue of Herakles has begun. Once it is done, it will surely be a great tourist attraction.

We now have a supply of 15000 thousand Herkopolis brand sweaters ready for trade, still at $10 a piece. We now have a limit of 5000 items per purchase.

The scientists in White Mesa have invented a new type of bug spray that is rather inexpensive to produce. Will soon see market release.

Constructions:

Radar facilities and large warehouses to store materiel will be constructed this year, as will a small drydock to enable the construction of medium-sized ships.

Project Overlord has no interest in this worldwide group but wishes you luck.

We would be willing to trade 1000 sweaters for a supply of raw aluminum to Herkopolis, which you will no doubt need to package your bug spray. You'll have to pick it up, though, as we have no real ships yet.
