Just a thought before anyone suggests getting too close to the real thing.

I usually average 1 to 2 models a day. So, if you do that for a month...
But if I really Hustle it, I have done as many as 4 a day.

I would have to say that my smartest practice is that I save everything!!! If I make an ammo pouch, or a gas mask, that will be used for a character, I'll always export it to an .obj file and throw it in a props folder. That way I have it built, and mapped already, and can just slap it on.

Same with other stuff too. If i need to build a vehicle, I have like 4 or 5 diffent wheel types saved, that I can use, ready to go. This way I dont have to build the same thing, or particular object over, and over.

After a while, you got yourself a huge library of objects that you can use to put your stuff together quickly, and easily.

Hope that helps.

Now is the time, for all good things to pass. And don't it figure, My toilets' broke.

Wow! Your new vehicle looks really nice.
I knew it was going to be awesome, but your texture looks better than I imagined.
The truck is better than the car for several reasons, but the main one is because it is yours and not someone elses.

LOL
Speaking of Mad Max, it looks like I'm not the only one wanting to make an animated movie. Mad Max 4: Fury Road
It's pretty amazing they had a $100 million budget for the film but got cancelled because of politics.
What do you think Cosmic; could we pull an animated movie off for less than $3 million? lol ( about $2.999 mill less)
I bet we could beat them to the post apocalyptic animated movie punch too!

Quote: "George Miller is also developing an action-adventure tie-in video game based on the fourth film, along with God of War II video game designer Cory Barlog. Both projects are expected to take two years to two and a half years, according to Miller, with a predicted release date of 2011 or 2012.[1] The upcoming Fury Road film would be produced at Dr.D Studios, a digital art studios founded in 2008 by George Miller and Doug Mitchell."

With an animated movie and video game in the works for Max Mad 4, I would suggest not making look alikes from that franchise as to avoid any legal conflicts.
Instead, I suggest making all of your stuff original like what you have so far.
Like you said before, maybe for a fan based free pack or something, but definitely not for sale.

Quote: "Cosmic Prophet: If you are going Mad Max style,an Interceptor is a must "

A re-texture of the car he gave us a link to doesn't do too bad... (see attached)
The only bad thing about it is the mirrored texture so the other side will need remapped for the MFP not to read backwards.
That head liner is mirrored from the top of the car too, where I probably would have used the back seats' texture or something.
Anyway, with a little effort you can get a better Pursuit Interceptor than I did, even though its not a 4 door. (but it has a big trunk)

@Cosmic : WoW you again!

I have all of your free packs and I will be the first who will buy your new pack.

This time your models in a better quality and I'm gonna be crazy.

If you do at this quality or better then you can sell your pack as model packs.
And sometimes little free pack at this quality is required to remind people you are the great CP.

Have our guns was a mistake!!!

Storyteller: Here's an update on the trooper. This is the bump, and base metal texture applied in Milkshape.

OK, He needs a paint job! Perhaps some stripes, or logo insignia.

Lets see what you guys can come up with!! using the image above, Drag him in your paint program and give him a good wasteland Paint job. Be creative and original.

I'll take the best of your submissions to finnish him up.

i like it, but your bump map doesn't seam to be doing anything, mabey posting a shot where it doesn't have a texture applied but just the bumpmap it might be more noticeable

I know its a little daring but since I am getting bored by grey armor I tried to mix a *dirty* yellowish tone

The black parts are to emphasise that the armor has flexible parts too, which is has to since its so tight. On an afterthought though the visor would look cooler in orange.

Overall I would prefer it a little bulkier but it looks terrific the way it is.

Hi Cosmic, you have me running here, so as I pass through, some free software for those looking to upgrade to next gen.

Bake your maps
xNormal is an application to generate normal / ambient occlusion / displacement maps. It can also project the texture of the highpoly model into the lowpoly mesh ( complete texture transfer, even with different topologies ).
http://www.xnormal.net/1.aspx

Curvy 3D
Rapidly sketch natural forms direct to 3D.
http://www.curvy3d.com/
I think version 1 was/is free, the latest isn't, but its low cost, Ive heard that people have been getting the basic form in this then exporting it into Sculptris.

I have a link to an awesome poly reduction tool for those that want to do the high poly model first for the normal model map, and then reduce it down for the game model. But Ill have to find it on a hard disk, so I will have to look for it, its a fantastic tool comes highly rated.

I think there may be a pot o' gold at the end of that there rainbow!
Nice

Here is my stab at the trooper...

This trooper's mechulite suit is naturally a pale green in color but tarnishes like silver when electricity is applied.
You can see the electric force field surrounding this veteran trooper's aged suit, so I wouldn't try to touch it if I were you.

Yeah, it is beautiful, but with all of those rounded parts and roll bars it makes me worried about the poly count.
What is the poly count on that bad boy?? (about 4600-5400?)

More like 5600, Still less than some characters. I was also concerned with this, It works well on my machine, but on slower machines....???

The majority of polys is in the engine. I did have an idea about converting the engine area to a platform where one could stand, and lay waste with a mounted machine gun. that would drop the poly count by at least a third. (But man, the exposed engine, makes it look really cool).

Maybe I'll include both versions, and folks could choose which one to use.

The pack continues to get better and better, you're doing a diligently brilliant job Cosmic. I agree with you on the Buggy; the two versions would credit those with varying levels of PC's (I personally don't have exactly the fastest running machine out there by far, heh). The Buggy coming in parts could also be fun to play around with (separate from the whole entity given as well for simple vehicle purposes of course)! Whether making it look like it exploded in a battle though, or sitting on blocks in the shop, so many ideas. Just wanted to air some thoughts.

Take care and have a great day

Life would be much easier if I had the source code.
