@CC - i'd like to join in, but there is no way i'll get anything finished before the end of jan - i've set myself a little target for my first AppGameKit game before the end of the year.

I remembered I bought some models off of the TGC store a while back, so they are proving to be useful placeholders.

I've got more done this weekend. The code is tidied up into separate functions and it's a lot easier to navigate through, though more tidying is needed. The placeholders have been introduced and it allows me to code in the animations, there's a few things that need to be fixed on that front. I've improved the system for player stats and now the player can level up. Because the test enemy respawns I can level up in the little demo.

To-do:
Add different attacks to battle system (and the ability to learn them)
Add the inventory system
Add the saving/loading system
Add multiple enemies (and the ability to select a target, current lock on system only requires you to be in their line of sight to lock-on, it may create a problem with multiple line of sights)
Add world collision
Build a test area with multiple enemies and NPCs.

Once those are done. I'll start a WIP thread.

But here's 3 images:

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/seppuku05/projectnaga4.png
http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y173/seppuku05/projectnaga5.png

[edit]
Works with multiple enemies (separate stats, made the second enemy tougher). I'm gonna call it a day. Next step - choosing targets.

Sorry for the lack of updates, I've made great progress on my Minefield remake, it's just the kind of progress that's harder to show with a pic/vid. I've just about got all the interfacing completed. Had to create some custom kismet events/actions, so I've been learning a TON along the way so far. Once I get the interface ironed out, I should be able to start working on the parts that can be shown more easily.

Mine's hit a dead end, I'm now trying to finish my level editor for Ker-Bang as the project got a kick start from a new team member.

I will finish my Asteroids clone/upgrade at some point in the near future but Ker-Bang has turned into a rather larger and much more fun project!

I'll be posting the editor for people to try when it's done. It might make an interesting physics sandbox for Box2D actually...

I've come to more collision issues... The game is pretty much ready to be released, so once I have patched up the intersection formulas, I'll be finished I don't think I'll be able to implement the replay option because I'm running out of time. Oh well...

I, mr_d, pledge to complete a working game demo before January 31st, 2011.

And to that end; and at the risk of being labeled a deviant, etc. I am now submitting this program now.

I don't believe this contravenes the AUP of this forum as it's not exactly R (or even M) rated, but it's probably not something little kiddies should be seeing

It's just something I was experimenting around with to see if the idea behind it would work - I'm still not sure, so maybe I'll need to experiment some more

For anyone who's interested; no, it's not using object meshes, just pre-rendered images...

Not sure what the object is, or how you're supposed to 'play' it but:

1-I think it may be considered sexual reference
2-Nice graphics...

I would take it down quick or risk a ban...

Thanks for your input.

That's the thing...it's not pornographic...and as I mentioned, it's not really "adult" material either (well I don't think it is anyway...) It's really only PG IMHO.

I don't want to be banned, so I'll edit my post to remove the attachment, but will replace it with an off-site link (so any non-kids interested can have a peek

Is there actually a game or is it just like a visual... thing...

HI Everyone !

I, Serge Adjo, pledge to complete a working game/game demo/general project before January 31st, 2011.

I plan to program a new kind of racing game. something like binarymoon/sun's "LimitRush" but bigger ; An kind of "Orienteering" game ; As it is my biggest project ever, I only plan to release a game demo for NaGaCreMo '11. I will probably post a youtube video of the game demo and nothing else, as I want to keep somme features secret until the full game is complete. Hope people will show interest for my game project as it is the thing that helps me most!

-Serge Adjo, A.K.A. "Serdjo(4/L)".
-Cheers.

Well, I've finally got something I can show. I've got the interfacing basically sorted out, so I'm down to just creating the features, which should be the faster part.

Here's a small video showing what I've accomplished so far.

It may not look like much, but there's a bit going on in the back, and I had to take some time just to learn how to use UDK and unrealscript before I could really even start working on this.

More to come hopefully.

Hmm didn't do anything last weekend, I suppose I ought to do something this weekend. Um...build a level and implement collision. That'll do. Once that's done, I can create a playable demo. I want to implement save and load data, but I'll work towards something playable first.

How is looking up a girl's skirt and clicking a "magic spot" NOT pornographic? If you can see her crotch I'm pretty sure it counts as porn.

That's not to say the idea isn't unique though...

-------------------------------------------------------------

Alright guys, times up! Time to discuss our projects and link to them here. I'll start.

While I didn't get my level editor/game engine done, I did manage to start work on my GUI functions library for the editor and it's taught me a lot about object-oriented programming (or tricking DBPro into thinking it's OOP ), and it's to a point where I know I could re-design my editor with the new GUI in a weeks' time, if that. So my project will be a week late, but it'll be there. What about the rest of you?

Urg why do people upload screenshots in PNG.

For the same reason they do in JPG?

I've always used PNG for both my signature and avatar. PNG is pretty useable like that.

What reason it that? Both formats are used for completely different reasons.

Yes I know, but I meant that a person could easily upload an image as a PNG without realizing that it is a PNG. I didn't know some images I uploaded were in PNG when I first fiddled around with Windows 7 and the Snipping Tool it has. It likes to save all images in PNG format. That could also be why everyone uploads screen grabs of their games in PNG, because that's the only option they're given with the Snipping Tool.

Well, it's the 31st, and I don't see me finishing this project... So I am going to attach what I have. The game IS playable, there's just a problem with oil, and I haven't programmed the winning routine yet. So if anyone wants to take over from here, be my guest

Thank you, Mad Nightmare and OBese, for pointing the things out that I was going to and forgot.

Does anybody else have anything to show for NaGaCreMo?

Don't mention PNGs again please, let's keep this ON TOPIC for the rest of this thread.

Yes no one mention PNGs please.

[edit]
Sorry lol.

I am sad to say that we didn't manage to get a fully working version of our space invaders game finished on time
There's been a lot of progress made, I have hardly done any work myself and feel bad about that but real world problems have gotten in the way.

Who's up for a March InGaCreMo? It's too late to start one for February anyway.

I'd totally be up for a March InGaCreMo!

Sadly I was not able to finish a demo by the end of the month, but I've made a lot of progress and learned a lot about the unreal engine in the process.

Definitely going to finish this game off over the next couple weeks for I feel it has some potential and I think it would make a good portfolio piece.

I wouldn't mind being entered for the March InGaCreMo as well, as I never managed to start my project 'til the 26th due to GCSE exams, and I've been having major bugs that I still haven't solved but I'm definitely finishing this one off!

I think that The Slayer, Deathead and I are in the same boat. Not finished, but willing to continue on it for getting it done by the end of March.

Sorry, had to say this -

Quote: "What's wrong with PNG? It's small and lossless, what more could you want?"

It's a case of one format creating files 1-2MB in size versus 50-100KB. Takes longer to load, that's all.

Quote: "That could also be why everyone uploads screen grabs of their games in PNG, because that's the only option they're given with the Snipping Tool."

Ah, I didn't know this. That is possibly why, since it was always BMP in the past.

InGaCreMo stands for InterNational Game Creation Month. It was previously known as NaGaCreMo, but after a couple of years we decided to re-brand it to let everyone know that it is, in fact, an international event.

It's not a competition, rather, it's an event where each person who is interested in making a game can make a pledge to attempt to finish it in the amount of time given in the current InGaCreMo thread (a months' time). The "reward" is knowing that you successfully put your mind to something and accomplished what you were seeking to do.

Saying something negative to provoke an emotional response is trolling, instead of actually providing a solution to the problem. And besides, everyone knows you like to troll here, it's not exactly new information.
