Thanks, Alex A friend of mine (who works as a designer so he seems to know stuff) said that the background was a little much, like too much contrast etc. and on the shading too... when working on that one I actually did the lineart, THEN the whole background and experimented with a whole bunch of stuff (like halftone effects) and then came the shading on the ponies (and added textures, which I had never done before either).
Anyways, point is, I have a less contrasty version here even though I like the original one as well.

The problem at work are https connections. They don't work through my proxy. :/

Pff, I would have just answered the usual "it's art."

Without seeing the lower contrast version I'm still going to say I like the current contrast and shading.

Oh and it reminds me of that time when I went to a toy store to see if they had any brushables or blindbags, and stood in front of the shelf with all the pink stuff in it... and one of those things similar to what was posted above said "Ich hab dich lieb, Mami" which translates to "I love you, Mommy" ... I just thought "Oh umm, that's okay Pinkie Pie... I'm leaving now. D:"

ShinodaGE's street art stuff is pretty awesome.

Check this out too. A collab project of a brony friend of mine with ShinodaGE. They both printed a poster of one half of pinkie looking through the portal with a picture of the place on the other side of the world (well, germany and argentina) visible through the portal... it's pretty cool!

Oh and what's your opinion on Double Rainboom? I thought it was okay... but could've been a lot better. I'll have to watch it again to say more. I disliked the initial scene in the library because Twi and RD were acting kinda out of character/weird to me... the plot of that episode was whack anyways. The art & animation was cool I guess. I liked the crossover thing a lot (I won't spoiler it here). They could've maybe used better recording equip on their VAs, some of the voices sounded lower-quality than the others I think. That's all I remember right now. ^^

Just watched Double Rainboom, the "first ever fan made" ...crap. Lame crossover with bad direction, stupid jokes and unbelievably crappy scenario. The Crystal Empire episode, with all it's flaws, now looks like a perfect episode. For the first time ever I wanted to drop watching MLP fan video for several times. I am incredibly disappointed.

P.S. A fair amount of noob animation. College of art and design you say?..

...At least JanAnimations continues to roll out great fanimations. Double Rainboom was a big disappointment in a very Michael Bay kind of way. All the nice visuals, no worthy dialogue, comedy or anything, really. The crossover also came and went nowhere, it was just dumb.

Excellent wallpaper by the way, Red. :3

Double Rainboom...

While I do appreciate the time and effort invested into creating this - it was highly ambitious to create a 30 minute episode for a student project - it was just average. The animation was below average, the voice acting was poor, and the overall plot didn't make much sense to me.

I did enjoy a few things here and there, and I must say, I loved how Rainbow Dash's drawing style changed and blended in to Townsville.

I think the largest problem was that they pushed everyone's expectations way too high.

For example, during the whole production, they were selling it as "the first ever fan made episode". They dedicated an entire website to it and got people all excited about it. Then they release a super epic trailer, which - I'll be honest - still gives me goosebumps, setting the barrier extremely high.

So of course the episode seemed average if you blow it up that much like they did. If they had released it with less fuss and more underground work, I think I would have an entirely different opinion. I'd certainly have appreciated it more.

Like I already stated, I commend them for their hard efforts, and it was quite an achievement considering it was fan made.

I would give it an overall rating of 4/10.

That's some solid animation there. (Not just pony creator ponies moving awkwardly with changing mouths to make it look like they're singing... >.> ) The fluid animation, interesting camera angles, good pacing... I like it. Makes me wish I could do traditional animation too, I might experiment some more in that direction some day... but I equally like comics. And I'm not good at planning projects. xD
Anyways, that video is very nice!

I should get some spray paint and draw ponies in apartment attics and basements too. I Work at an internet company and i have access to all kinds of restricted areas where communications run and stuff and those places tend top have some unique graffiti. I should contribute to that with p[ponies lol

This one may be kind of old but i just saw this. Its 30 minute long review of canterlot wedding. Nothing new from the looks of it but if you watch it till the end there is a certain theory explained there that just blew my mind and it also explains some things about the storyline of the entire show.

now i am really looking forward to season 4
