1985 is calling, they want their compression format back.

Seriously, quit moaning and get with this decade - if he wants to RAR it then he can RAR it. ZIP is out-dated with piss poor compression, kudos to the guy for not using it (and for creating the start of an excellent looking game of course).

7zip would have been a good choice as well. It was just annoying me that someone can release such a high quality DB game like this and the newbs can't even handle un-archiving it, and added useless noise to a thread that should have been discussing this quality game, not their lack of PC skillz. It's ain't rocket science (I'll let off the guy who couldn't install RAR on his locked-down PC!). Anyway enough.. back to the topic in hand...

I AM NOT A NEWBEE!!! It is just easier to use a standard format of .zip. Windows XP has its own .zip extractor and creator. There is no need to have whatever a rar file is. The screenshots are great, but I am using a 56k modem and have no time to download the extractor and the game.

@Richard Davey: I have been programming for five years. That was since I was eight. I also know assembly, C++, Java, and SGML. You have no right to jump to the conclusion that I am a newbee.

By the way: That was not directed towards Math89. I love the game. "I just get so annoyed when some Administrator tries to put down standardized formats that he thinks to be extinct because they supply an unziper and zip file creator on every XP."

Who cares...not everyone has XP...some people cant afford lots of webspace. And no need to flash your 'ive been programming for this long" because here it isnt that special.
Please just accept the right of the author to put the game in any format he/she sees fit.

ZIP has half or less the compression of modern formats. There is no reason to use it. And since you can't even spell newbie, quit whining

*downloads the demo*

A copy of WinRAR AND the game in RAR format = several MBs less than the game alone in ZIP format. Your 56k would benefit and you'd learn something in the process. Can't loose really.

Whats your point? It's not how long you've been programmign, it's how well you do at it.

I've read alot of "STFU NOOB" type replies on these forums over the years, but this is just a god damn needle to the heart. Words are weapons when used properly.

How big are they supposed to be, because I get them downloaded in like one second, and they give the Invalid archive format error.

Copy and paste the link into your broswer.

EDIT: tried the game.
Awsome graphics! I love the large selection of weapons. All very high quality might I mention. Though none of them pack any heat and the monsters seem to be indestructable.

The levels, textures and misc 2d art are all top-notch. Although I have a bad case of sore eyes after playing this game becasue of the high intensity lights on the cieling...-_-'

The control layout is kinda awkward. Can you make in WASD for movement, F for flashlight, space for opening doors, and right mouse for zooming? Would be alot of comfortable than the arrow keys setup.

I have no other complaints. This is an awsome game.

Awesome demo! However, I had three problems. The first is that the level's are too short. The second is that when you fire on an enemy there's no indication that you hit them or not. For a while I thought that it was a collision bug and I couldn't kill the monsters. You should at least have them make noise when you injure them so we can tell that we're making progress. The third issue I had was the enemy AI is pretty aweful. I ran away from an enemy and up some stairs and it pressed itself against a wall and didn't move (I was behind and above it). Maybe you should have the monsters pace randomly when they lose your trail.

HWT : Your dl don't work : size 0 bits

Nitrixik Studios : the textures comes from www.limefly.net
"And how many polies is the first level?" sorry but I don't understand . Maybe "polies" = "polys".

GothOtaku : I'll add some noise and blood to see if they are injured. And, normally, ennemies pace after a few seconds without seeing you
