some american soldier killed an iraqi girl, not nessecerily on purpose, does that give me a reason to be intolerant of all americans, even pasafists?

no, because (and i owe this 100% to these forums) from being here i've seen americans for what they really are, not what the media shows. I've found that some americans are wonderful people, you, cattlerustler, jimmy, and (although we have political differences) mouse are all great, do i think of you as iraqi money whores? no.

edit: roffle at killswitch, stop you're making me laugh"

im startin to think about pulling out "eric" from the list of non-jerks there.

if your wonderng, this is in response to what you said about walking down the road and having missionaries hurling religeon at you.

dont you think missionaries pss me off too? i've had jehovas witnesses get at me loads of times. i think of them as annoying, but does that make me think their religeon is BS? no, cos i have a brain.

Eric, you just have a complete lack of the concept of faith. God is not meant to be proven, he's meant to be believed in. Nobody will ever prove to you that God exists, but you can obtain faith that he exists. Well... others can... you, I don't see much hope for.

To all people...no matter you faith:

Out of the million+ religions out there...what makes you think yours is the only one that can be possibly right? Are you saying everyone else is either a liar or misled in their beliefs?

Go ahead, If being a jerk is based on my religious prefrences then I wouldn't wanna be in the list of non-jerks.

Quote: "was i one of those missionaries?"

How do I know? (you see, I never said i don't belive in the "how do you know" stance that you have been pulling on me )

Quote: "i've had jehovas witnesses get at me loads of times. i think of them as annoying, but does that make me think their religeon is BS? no, cos i have a brain."

Well, I do have a thing for the jehovas being BS, but i won't get into that. SO Having a brain is based on religious beliefs and tolerance too?

I seriously have better things to do with my time than sit around all day thinking how every OTHER religion is wrong and I'm right. What do you think we are, conceited jerks? Some of you people have the biggest set of false impressions on who we really are.

Meh, I believe my religion is right for me, I also believe it to be more complete than the others, but nobody is a liar or misled for honestly believing in Christ and striving to live a good life. Being a member of the truest religion has added benefits.

My opinion.

i hope theres hope for eric, but he'll probably read this and wanna shoot my head off, fair enough, nail me to a tree for wishing good amongst others.

ps- ill clarify that has no links to jesus in any way, since i dont believe he was crucified, one of the things that seperated islam and christianity.

im asking seriously, was i one of them?
im telling you 100% i never been on your side of the atlantic.
so why do you take these issues out on me and others who weren't there? my dad's punched missionaries in the face, yet he's deeply into religeon and culture.

Actually the difference between Christianity and other religions involving a supreme being, is that Jesus actively pursues us, not the other way around. Many religions involve having to do certain routines or rituals to stay good with their deity, in order to have blessings etc. (i.e. burning incense, etc.). With Christianity Jesus pursues us, and sooner or later we're all faced with the situation where we have a choice to accept him or turn a blind eye.

What do you mean you pwned it? I bet noone read the thread then suddenly discovered god.

All you proved was that some people are religious and others are not and neither side can provide any real evidence that proves their views.

i'd like you to quote me, and if i'v offended anyone i'll gladly take it back. the issues i had here were people like eric making out that religeon was bad just because of a few missionaries who he encountered, and i was defending the right to follow a religeon considering i nor no-one i know has ever been a missionary or preached religeon to the open public.

Ok, lets get back on topic.

>Even if they managed to get 2 of every mammal and land based
>creature the ark would be kilometres long.

AFAIR this is basically what happened with the ark.

God sent a number of angels to earth to teach humanity, but the angels liked earth women so much that they had children with them. These children were called nephilim and were refered to as giants.

God didn't like this and decided to flood the earth. He decided to save Noah and his family, and instructed Noah to build the ark and save a number of males and females from a number of species. The flood came and the ark survived.

Here is some speculation:
We know that god resides somewhere in the sky, although ancient scripture hasn't provided us with accurate directions(vectors, coordinates, galaxy or zipcode) atleast not as far as we know. The only thing that we really know is that he resides upwards from the earth, no matter where on the earth we are, which suggests that god resides in space.

We know that all living things share the same key elements(DNA for example). We know from the story of the ark, that angels had offspring by earth women, which suggests that angels are genetically very close to humans. Ancient scripture tells us that mankind was created in gods image, which suggests that god is a biological entity.

Ancient scripture doesn't tell us whether angels are male or female, however they specifically lusted after women, which suggests they were all male. Ancient scripture also tells us that angels are perfect beings and yet they seem to have free will(lusting after earth women or lucifer refusing to accept humans as a superior species). Ancient scripture tells us that Noah and family lived for a very long time, which suggests a better genetic makeup than modern humans.

Is it possible that god was in fact a biological entity from somewhere in space?

Is it possible that god is in fact the title of the leader of human ancestors who lived many thousands of years ago, perhaps a person with authority such as a captain of an interplanetary or intergalactic spacevessel?

Is it possible that angels were perfect, because they were merely perfect clones of a species of human. Perhaps the perfect in-vitro clone of a worker or warrior.

Is it possible that Noah was a descendant of alien humanoid settlers. Maybe he was under the command of a guy named god?

Think about this. You settle on a strange but lifesustaining planet. You start unthawing the workers and possibly the security personel, which then act as couriers between the mothership and the settlement on earth.

The most important cargo that the mothership carried from home was a genetic archive of all lifeforms on your homeplanet. After settling, the mothership was cut up to be used for building the new settlement on earth.

After working very hard for many years and even centuries, the polar icecaps start to melt at an alarming rate. The leader of the settlement then commands Noah, who manages the the genetic archive to protect the archive at any cost. The flood comes and the archive was saved, but the technological base of the settlers was destroyed.

Now the settlers had to rely on hunting and gathering in stead of laserweapons and teleporters. The settlers faced with having to reinvent their entire technology, they decide to keep an oral account of their story.

However, after many generations, their story has become a myth. They all know that they should honour god, but what served a function in their forgotton hi-tech society has now developed into worship of god. They still salute their the commanding officer, but have no understanding why. They no longer remember anything about advanced nuclear physics or genetic research, and the myth keeps changing with every generation.

Fast forward to today. We are still asking 'why are we here' and wondering if there is something out there...

ben: his oppinion was that he could blurt out to everyone that religeons a farse when he himself says he hates people blurting out that religeon is the in thing? i dont care if hes athiest or not, and i've tried my best to keep highlighting that, i just wanted him to stop saying religeon was "bs", it was his oppinion, but if you know an oppinions going to offend people, you should expect someting back or hold your tongue.

Huh? Is this Greek mythology or something like that? To tell you the truth I've NEVER heard this. It's certainly not Biblical, that's for sure. I know there were giants back then (says in the Bible), but angels are NOT human so they can't have children. They are also sexless, so copulation would NOT be possible even by the utmost stretch of the imagination. Sorry to burst your bubble.

lol i should of locked it yesterday before I went to the video shoot for my mates band.

It wasnt intended to be some huge religion vs scientist massdebate.

You know the method behind all stories in the bible is to control the masses. Sure you can extract good things from them, but its a control method for people who lack a strong moral compass.

As for people thinking there were less animals back then, iirc it takes a long time for nature to create different strains of creatures and I cant see that happening over a few thousand years.

if the bad animals drowned then how did they come back?
Are we not an animal anyway? are we not the most destructive animal on the planet?

40 days and 40 nights is a lot of food for that many animals, there should be water flood evidence across the whole planet including what would have happened to the polar caps etc..

If im an idiot as some people say then why did you bother to reply? did it waver your faith or did it press a button?
Perhaps all it did is give u a platform to express yourself, however that was executed tho is your opinion.

either way the result is an opinion expressed to try and value an input or idea. Regardless all ideas are just as valuable and invaluable as each other, subjective weight.

Im agnostic but heavily lean to atheism, in moments.

wouldnt it be a shame if there was no god and it was a case of delusion and grandure that u waisted all that time and energy on a wisp.

luckily we live in a time where even tho its strained we can talk about religion and so forth without to much death and carnage.
this doesnt exclude the hotspots of the world tho where anger and resentment towards each other is most commonly profound around the most religous types.

ironic that religion and the most faithfull are also the most destructive towards each other.

to me if jesus really existed hes was the first telemarketer with a good ol book, that helped the church increase its power.

IF your told in religion that moses could part the water or jesus came back to life etc.. and you believe it...then leave your brain at the door, you will believe anything then and under that guise it will strengthen in your mind that its true.

you just got lied to for an alternative motive, greed power, control, yet since you have been brain washed into the stories as more then just stories but sanctified peices of information that you cant touch or digest in different ways you can throw any logical discussion out the window regarding them.

whats going to happen when the universe and all its questions are so close to being solved? do the religious people have an apifiny about more powerfull religious indicative moments or do they forgoe and say yeah god was fun but i can see the evidence its not entirely true. I doubt they will let go of all that time. it would be very hard for them to do so.

what if god really existed and the scientists said alright all this work was created by god, either way we have the answers we so desire.

what if every god thats been created instead of just one god the christian world so vehemently describes as the one true god was the false god and some south american god with a 56 letter name was the only god.

what if its all nonsense, what if its a method to pigeon hole the questions we cant answer with fables and stories.

no one likes to be deceived, and some find it very hard to let go if we have been for so long.

what about religions that dont share a one figure god architecture.
are they worse off? are they inferior?, religion is a bad thing to me faith isnt.

You all have a brain, you all have the opportunity to be good or bad, its your own decisions that flow who and what you are as a person without anyone influencing what or how you lead the time you have.

If no-one gives your an answer to a question you have asked, consider:- Is your question clear.- Did you ask nicely.- Are you showing any effort to solve the problem yourself

Indi, you of all people should have read the previous posts before posting yourself. People with faith don't need scientific evidence to back up EVERY SINGLE sentence in the Bible. God knows how many hairs are on my head--- do you need scientific evidence of this?
