andrew neale: Thats great!! Thanks!!

Torq: Those are both exelent!! The island music would be perfect if it had a just slightly softer sound and a sort of wavy feel to it, and the teck music is great. A big thumping sound like a blacksmiths hammer is just what I had in mind.

Now the only two backround musics I still need are
-Desert-kind of sandy sound with sort of arabian music
-Jungle-jungle sounds and drums should be a big part of the sound here, but not the only

I've also just completely re-did the look of the menu, and I'm finaly truely satisifed with it.

Of all the luck- I just wrote both of you long and thought out thanks-you's and comments. I spent a long time writng it, and just before I pushed the post button, the power in my house went out. So this post won't say nearly as much as I wanted to, and will be the sort version.

Andrew Neale: It would be nice if there wasn't that pause in the beginging of the song, and rather the begining and end flowed togeather, and it would be nice if it were ever so slightly quieter, because right now it drowns out the sound effect a bit. But the actual music is really what I was thinking of for the fantasy area. And of course you'll get a mention in the credits!!

Torq: They're all exactly what I was looking for, and my favorite was the jungle one. You'll also get a mention in the credits for each song.

Both: I still offer to model or draw something for both of you (My drawing skills are better, but I've gotton alright at modeling cartoony things), and am ever greatful, for I could have never done the music myself.

Can't you use the comand:
'set music volume MusicID,Volume(out of 100)'

I'll try and get it to flow but I won't make any promises. I'll re-upload any progress.

Np Ill get in contact with you at a later date about the model
(I still have many other things going on.)
Im glad they work for you and that you like them. The desert and island songs were a real stretch for me Especially the desert. I had to listen to some egyptian music to get even a remote clue of where to start.(I love the jungle one also)
I just couldnt see a good game like this wind up without music.

GL in the competition!!

andrew neale: Does that comand work in DB classic? I've tried a sillilar command that did nothing.

Torq: Good luck to you to!!

All: Okay, I've been given a new deadline by my dad, who wont let me program all summer (he wants me to develop something called a 'social life'). I have to finish by friday, and I'm probably not giong to get a chance to program all week even. So I'll be working as hard as I can to finish the actual game, and if I'm lucky I'll have time to fix the remaining outstanding bugs, and implement all the AI I want to.

andrew neale: I tried the code, and DB cassic had no clue what it was. Oh well. I'll use the music the way it is if you can't get it to loop nicely. It isn't that big a deal.

I've been working hard the last few days, and I completely rebuilt the little amout of AI I had implemented. Now the enemies are a puzzle themselves, and you have to use your brain to get past them. There may be opertuniteis in later levels to use light and heavy drones as trampoleens, but that's a small maybe and doesn't make sense unless you know how the enemies work. Time's running out, and I don't think I'll be able to make the eleventh original level the bonus. Sorry. In its place I'll add something very cool, that takes far less time to do.

If I can get the first six levels running perfectly today and get part of te AI implemented into the vast seventh ans eighth levels, I may just be able to get everything else in, however.

here's a pic of the fith level, and I think I'll wait until the games done to post anymore pics.

Well, I'm sorry I couldn't reply to eithier of your posts earlier, but this is the first time i've checked Apollo for a while. I just re-did the block collision system, which fixed the last bugs that made some levels practicaly unplayable. But this new method uses almost twice as complex code, and I'm afraid that for almost all computers the last two levels may be unplayable, but I may be wrong. I had to scrap the last four levels. It's a lot, but none of them were close enough to being done that I could put them into the game. So instead I added a small but fairly difficult level in the middle of the game. It's the only one that side scroll, and after playing in you'll know why. I also didn't get a chance to add any bonus at all, or even complete the the story!! I may one day finish the game, or more likely re-do it in dbpro with planty of enhancements.

I have about half an hour to an hour before I have to submit the game, so I would need the music before then or I can't include it. My e-mail is bprager AT compup DOT com.

Waaa!!! I didn't win!!!
Oh well. I didn't really expect to anyhow.

But now that the compo is over, I'm goning to finish the game. Right now I'm working on version 1.1, and here are some screens.

The final version of the game will have nine story levels, and one bonus level if you collect all the keys. If you played the compo entry you may have gotton to the water level, which you can see improoved screens of above. Three of the levels will have this timed aspect, including the rainy rising water world, rising lava in a volcano shoot, and the boss level where you run away from the monster from the story. I've added a veiw of every level before you start the level, as well as added a skip intro option to the menu. I've also improoved how you veiw the intro, as well as the games akward controls.

I'll most likely be releasing version 1.1 within a week or two, which should include everything I want to add so far but the bonus level and and auto save feature.

EDIT: I've added a cool toturial to the first level, as well as a head up display and a quick help button.

Andrew: don't worry about the speeling (he,he). I just did that quickly so I could get my idea out.

Peter:

I’ve also updated the heads up display. The inventory now looks really cool, and that thing in the upper right of the screen is now a cool devise that keeps track of how many keys you've collected. You also may have noticed that the level name is the same in every level in the screens. That has also been fixed, and a health bar has been added to just below it (if you get killed three times by an enemy, the whole level restarts). I'm also making another but shorter tutorial by Block Due for when BlockMan first encounters things that can kill him.

Edid: Here's a pic of the heads up now. I like it, and I'll probably keep it.

Off Topic: I'm in the middle of planning out a turn based strategy game, called Bizar W.A.R.S. (or just W.A.R.S.). Right now W.A.R.S. stands for Wicked Awesome Random Stuff, but that has literally nothing to do with the game! If anyone can think of some title that has the initials W.A.R.S. that would work well with an advanced wars type game (the only game I know of that even remotely resembles it), I'd be happy to hear it and will use it if it's good enough.

W.A.R.S. uhhh..."Where Are Renaldo's Snakes?"

oh, wait...that wouldn't have much to do with the game either if i think of something i'll tell you

BTW the game is looking superb!

Looking good. I`m looking forward to a more playable BlockMan Remix. The game would have got much much farther in the compo if it wasn`t for the lack of time you had. I`m glad you`ve decided to finish it properly.
As for W.A.R.S.....mmmm. How about Wars Are Realy Slick or Weapons Are Realy Slick? Sorry. No good at these word games.

Thank you for the votez!1!

Peter: thanks!

MiR: Yah, me too. I felt really bad about not wanting to finish this, so I opened the code up and a million ideas on how to improve the game sprang up. And it isn't completely that I didn't have enough time, it's also that this is the first project was ever actually finished, and I had no experience with deadlines, so in the beginning I just took my time. As you can see, progress is much faster now, or at least it feels like it to me.

And don't worry about the WARS thing. Just thought up a name... War Against the Rising Sun. You'll just have to wait for that one... he he... And it's worth waiting for; the idea is so cool and amazing.

MUSIC REQUEST:
Once again I need music!! I'm making the game so no two levels have the same background, and thus I need more music. I need
Grassy meadow-type music (calm and encouraging)
Snowy winter-type music (sort of upbeat, but warning and should make the player feel a bit uneasy. Like the calm before the storm)

Sven B: I like it quite a bit, but could you make the song speed up a bit in the middle? not too much, I just felt it was a bit too relaxing.

andrew neale: I'll go with svens meadow music, but I felt the winter one was very close to what I originally wanted! The only things that you might do to improve it are add some winter wind sound in the background, and whenever the instrument that sounded similar a harmonica played, there was a staticy sound as well (possibly breathing?), and I was wondering if you could somehow take the staticy sound out and leave the other sound.

I kinda didn't like the effect of the speed up in the middle, so I made the whole thing speed up. Also, I added some timpani too...

Sven B: Exelent!! Thanks!! you will get a mention in the credits, and if you need my help on anything, I'll help if I can.

andrew neale: Thanks! I hope your sucesful, because I really liked that music!! And just so you know, the staticy sound can't be heard on most computers unless you listen very carfuly, and I couln't even hear it using a suround sound system. It's just that my laptop picks up sounds very well, and it really made it hard to consentrate, which would be terible for anyone with a simmilar sound set-up to mine.

Bizar Guy.

I hope you knew this was a demo. 30 sec for a whole game music is a bit short don't you think...

I can email the full version to you when it's finished.

I believe my email is displayed on one of the buttons below my post, please contact me.

Sven B: My e-mail is bprager AT compup DOT com. It doesn't have to be much longer, as it's only for the first level, but then again that level has the first toturial in it... so do whatever you feel is nessesary!

andrew neale: Yes!! But I'm not on the computer that you could hear the staticy sound from, so I wont be able to tell about that until monday night. But I can tell you that it will be perfect for the level if the staticy sound's gone.

Andrew Neale. If you want, I can convert you're midi to mp3,wav or ogg, without having background noise. This way, the music will be same on any pc (that has a mp3 codec).
