@ Largo Winch, I like that menu that you made, looks nice. But maybe you should try to use the edit button instead to keep Uncle Sams thread tidy.

Largo Winch, making a multiplayer game requires a lot of time so Uncle Sam's probably quite busy.

@ Uncle Sam, I know this game must be quite hard to create and I think your doing a great job!

@ Largo Winch, if you look at the bottom left corner of your post, below your location, username etc - you will see two links. One will say "Back to top" and the other "Edit Post". If you ever need to change something in your post, ie :
Quote: "ah u mean the pics size !
@Uncle Sam I'm so sorry !! "

You can just click edit and change your post, so you don't make a new post everytime you want to change something.

Thanks Danielp for helping him.

Largo, I can see that you've gota good looking game going, but if you haven't even finished the shooting part yet, then multiplayer isn't ready to be added. I really think you should not have planned to make it for a study. I just can't tell you how hard it really is to make it. For now, just work on the game, and post a thread in the DB Pro section (if that's what you use) for multipalyer help. I'm afraid I can't help you, and I'll tell you the main reason why.

Announcement: Yian and I were making progress in our testing. We were able to "ping" to each other, and were going to test, but couldn't because when he pressed play, it also skipped the IP part. But that's not the worst of it. While testing, my graphics card suddenly died. Right now I'm using some sort of built in windows graphics system. This means no games, or making them, until I get my card. Yian, did you have something to do with this?

Anyways, the good news is that I think it was going to work. But until I get my card, progress is halted, so whoever it was on the last page that was wanting a demo (my comp is to slow right now to go and check ), all I can say is that, after I get my card, which should be soon...hopefully...but doubtfully also...I would say that....the game is very close to being done! Thanks for offering to make a menu. I appreciate it, but you have no idea how long it took to make the current, simple menu! I would like to keep it the same. I'm planning however to make a new version of this game in the future (a sequel...spelling?) and would then use your menu.

Ok, to do list (note that I have removed a couple items of things to do because saving them for the new version...and I'm lazy ):

finish collision (almost done!)
speed up walking a little
make head, chest, and leg damage different
fix sun effect bug
fix firing animation for enfield
make chat system
possibly add jumping...not sure if needed on such a primitive map...and animation would be...
fix walking sound
post up for the enjoyment of everyone!

About ammo, I am thinking that if I did have ammo, that would require a reloading animation, and a wepon supply box, etc.! Right now, I think that is too much of an undertaking. I'll save that for the next version. and make this game a simple rapid-fire-non-stop blaster game!

Well, as you can see, I"m clsoe to completion, but have had a delay. Not to fear...the game has not died!

Thanks for your support.

EDIT: sorry for my messy post!

People, just to let you know, I've been trying to make a video without sound (since I couldn't get it to record sound), and can't seem to get it under 40mb in file size. The video may have to be choppy to be small.

I'll keep ya posted.

Yes it is his problem, he is a forum user. open_Froz is right: Don't post screenshots of your game here.

I keep telling you, I can't help you! It's more than you think! I can't just give you a snippet of code and tell you to add it in. I have to know how your code works. Now I suggest you stop posting here, and go to the DB Pro board and make a question for multiplayer there, or search the forums. This has been asked numerous times before, maybe even by me.

Quote: "I'm asking spacially help from Uncle Sam because as I have seen it is the only forum user who has a completed multiplayer FPS!! "

My FPS is not complete!

EDIT: and editing your posts won't help. I quoted it. But thanks for getting rid of the screen shots.

I would suggest variation in the terrain texture. Unless you're using a matrix.

No, it's advanced terrain. It is a little repetetive, but that's because I couldn't get the hang of Strata Works. It's a tough program.

Hey, Uncle Sam, use fraps to record a video, then open up Windows Movie Maker (Default C:\Program Files\Movie Maker or something like that) and add it to the collections. Then put it in your movie and save and you'll notice a great save in usage of space.

@Conner94

Thanks, I'll try!

@FPS FIGHTER

No. There is a board for these kinds of questions. I'm tired of new users coming into my thread to ask questions about a multiplayer FPS. This thread is made for comments, not questions. Sorry, but you must go to the DB Pro board.

EDIT: movie is still same size.

Guys, I've decided that I am expecting too much of myself! This is my first multiplayer game, and my first real game! I will fix the collision, and then maybe make some head, chest, and leg damage, and then just make this game local! I cannot get online play to work. Maybe someday I'll come back and make this game online, but for now, you may enjoy it as a local 1 vs 1 game. I am just about finished with my particle functions, so I will then probably finish this up and post it, and then start a new one.

but, if it works local, why would'nt it work online???

its exactly the same as local.. maybe its not the code, but your firewall/router/windows just won't let you host the game

yes possibly that is it just give it to someone else to try and if that is the problem someone that has expirience at multiplayer programing could help you.

Haha, It's easy for you guys to say that - but it's actually harder than it seems. Uncle Sam has put a lot of time into trying to get multiplayer going online.

And if it is something to do with routers etc, which it most likely is, then how is the average user of the game going to be able to figure out how to do it for themselves when they want to play online.

It's all quite complicated

Uh, no. I've watched like every season on boxed set and none of them say stargate center.

Now, on topic:
